Chapter 98 Going Home for the New Year

Lin Qingyu then realized that her younger brother had probably come on an empty stomach.

So they immediately ordered the kitchen to cook some dishes and served a bowl of soup to warm people up.

When the last few people went home, they ran into Wu Lili again at the door.

Lin Qingyu frowned and watched Wu Lili walk out of the building before impatiently going inside.

This has happened several times recently; just as she was about to open the door, Wu Lili came out.

I have no idea what she's thinking. Does she really expect me to help her out?

Lin Qingyu sneered inwardly, ignoring all that, and after entering the house, she slammed the door shut, cutting off the cold air from outside.

"Weidong, please sit down for a while. I'll boil some water for you."

Lin Qingyu invited Lin Weidong to sit on the sofa, and only when she turned around did she realize that the stove in the house was already lit, no wonder the house was not cold at all.

At this moment, Zhao Xiaobao also came out of his room.

He's grown incredibly tall recently, already surpassing Lin Qingyu in height, and will definitely be taller than Gu Shi in the future.

"Uncle, Aunt, Uncle Weidong!"

He greeted us with a polite smile, but his voice sounded a little strange; he must be going through puberty.

"Xiao Bao, when did you get back? Why didn't you tell your uncle so he could pick you up!"

Lin Qingyu stood with her hands on her hips, none of them were easy to deal with.

Zhao Xiaobao suddenly laughed and reached up to touch his short hair: "I just wanted to come back early to give you all a surprise!"

Lin Weidong greeted him somewhat awkwardly, "Xiao Bao, you've grown so much taller!"

"You've grown quite a bit lately, Uncle Weidong. How long are you going to stay here?"

Lin Weidong was surprised that Zhao Xiaobao was so easy to talk to now, and looked at him with a bit of flattery.

"How about staying for ten days or so? Oh, sister and brother-in-law, wouldn't that be too much trouble for you?"

Lin Qingyu glanced at him and said coquettishly, "What trouble? You should stay a few more days! We'll go home together for the New Year, it's settled then!"

Lin Qingyu then went to the kitchen and worked with Gu Shi.

Although the two had already eaten at the small restaurant, Lin Qingyu was in a good mood today and could eat again!

With only the two of them left in the living room, Lin Weidong was still a little reserved, unsure of what to do with his hands and feet.

Zhao Xiaobao strode over, grabbed his arm, and pulled him toward the sofa.

"Uncle Weidong, what delicious food did you bring me?"

Zhao Xiaobao was no longer the aloof person he used to be; he seemed to have reverted to his childhood self, chasing after Lin Weidong and calling him "brother."

Now he's properly calling him "little uncle," so the generational distinction is correct.

Lin Weidong was still a little unaccustomed to it, so he pulled his hand away, pretended to pour water, and moved a little further away from Zhao Xiaobao.

"Let me have a drink of water first, then I'll get it for you."

Zhao Xiaobao didn't mind, nor did he rush him; he just waited by his side until he finished drinking the water.

After drinking a cup of hot water, Lin Weidong felt warmer and less restrained.

He walked to the door and took out the things he had brought from inside.

Lin Weidong first looked at the item to make sure it was clean before taking it over.

He feels that he is not as close to his sister as he used to be, and that the gap between them is widening.

Moreover, Lin Weidong felt out of place standing here in this living room.

It's the same as what people say about poor country boys going to the city.

Zhao Xiaobao seemed to sense his unease, so he went over and carried the snakeskin bag he had brought to the sofa with one hand.

"Hey, Xiao Bao, don't bring it over, it's not clean!"

Lin Weidong hurriedly stopped Zhao Xiaobao, worried that the things he brought would dirty the floor.

"What are you afraid of? We're all from Pear Blossom Village. There's no such thing as dirty or not dirty. Let me see what my uncle brought me."

Zhao Xiaobao reached inside and took things out one by one.

Apart from some agricultural products, the rest were all small trinkets.

Most of them were things he had eaten last year, and he said they tasted pretty good.

"Uncle, you're so kind of you to remember that I like to eat these."

Zhao Xiaobao suddenly acted like a child, hugging Lin Weidong's waist and snuggling against him.

Lin Weidong felt much warmer now and finally reached out to touch his hair.

"Why are you still like a child? Xiao Bao, you've grown so tall!"

Zhao Xiaobao hugged him briefly and then stood up, smiling as he spoke to Lin Weidong.

I asked him about his life at school, his studies, and even jokingly asked if he had a girl he liked.

Lin Weidong smiled and responded to each of them.

During the final meal, Zhao Xiaobao suggested that Lin Weidong share a room with him.

Lin Weidong had initially thought that Zhao Xiaobao might not want to sleep with him anymore now that he was all grown up, and had even planned to sleep on the sofa.

Lin Qingyu was happy with this arrangement and didn't interfere much, only providing a thick quilt.

Lin Weidong then stayed there until around the time of the Lunar New Year.

Lin Qingyu closed the restaurant doors and sent all the employees home for the Chinese New Year.

Gu Shi will need to be busy for a while longer. His factory is quite large, and he needs to be given more instructions.

After everything was arranged, the family boarded the green train home.

After a long and winding journey, we finally arrived at Pear Blossom Village the day before the Lunar New Year.

Li Xiuhua and her husband went home early in the morning after their holiday started.

Snowflakes were falling outside, and the two of them stood at the village entrance waiting for people to return, ignoring the cold.

A bus now runs through the village, taking people to the village entrance, which is the road in front of Gu Shi's house.

Around noon, the couple finally saw the swaying figure of the bus.

The four of them got out of the car, carrying large bags of luggage. Li Xiuhua quickly went over and took the bag from Lin Qingyu's hand.

"Mom? What brings you here? It's so cold outside!"

Lin Qingyu was somewhat surprised and quickly moved aside to prevent Li Xiuhua from carrying the things.

"Oh dear, why did you bring back so much stuff? Let me get you one!"

In the end, Lin Qingyu couldn't persuade her otherwise, so she had to let her take something that wasn't too heavy.

Gu Shi also called for help, and Li Xiuhua and Lin Aiguo both responded with smiles.

Unexpectedly, Zhao Xiaobao also shouted with a grin, "Grandpa and Grandma, Uncle Weidong and I bought you lots of delicious food!"

Not only was Li Xiuhua somewhat unaccustomed to it, but even Lin Qingyu and Gu Shi were a little confused.

I wonder if Zhao Xiaobao has reached puberty and has reverted to his childhood self.

While others rebel during adolescence, he's gone straight back to how he was as a child.

However, these little incidents did not change the family's happy mood.

Li Xiuhua walked beside Lin Qingyu for a while, then suddenly leaned closer to her and whispered something.

"Qingyu, when you get home later, don't take it to heart by arguing with your grandma. She just listened to the rumors spread by the villagers!"

Li Xiuhua said somewhat awkwardly, "Don't be angry. Just ignore what she says and live your life!"
