The father and daughter engaged in a question-and-answer session for half an hour.
Ye Beiping then asked, "Dad, how about we have dinner here?"
"Um...no need." Su Qingwen waved his hand and refused, "I'd better go back to eat, otherwise my family will make a fuss again."
He stood up as he spoke, glancing at Su Xinwan and saying, "What are you still sitting there for? Let's go."
"I."
Su Xinwan looked at her sister with a pitiful expression, asking, "Sis, can I eat here?"
The little glutton clearly knows that the food at her sister's place is much better than at home, otherwise she wouldn't have stubbornly refused to leave.
Hearing this, Su Qingwen felt a little embarrassed and pulled Su Xinwan up, saying, "If you don't go back to eat, be careful your mother will cause you trouble again."
After scolding his youngest daughter, he looked up at Su Xinyi and smiled, "Xinyi, we're leaving now. If you need anything, go to Dad's workplace or call us."
Su Xinyi was about to say something, but was stopped by Ye Beiping behind her.
She looked at Ye Beiping with some confusion, but he just smiled and didn't respond. He then said to Su Qingwen and his daughter, "Dad, tomorrow is Saturday. Let Xinwan come over then."
"Alright."
Su Qingwen, who had just reached the door, thought for a moment and finally nodded.
It's only natural for a younger sister to take care of her older sister, especially during a holiday; it shouldn't be considered disturbing the young couple.
When Su Xinwan heard that she could come tomorrow, her pitiful expression immediately turned into joy: "Then I'll come tomorrow, sister, wait for me."
"Okay." Su Xinyi was somewhat speechless about her younger sister.
Her face changes faster than turning the pages of a book.
Ye Beiping and Su Xinyi escorted the father and daughter downstairs and watched them leave before turning back.
"Why did you stop me just now?" Su Xinyi asked, puzzled.
She had clearly wanted to say something to persuade Su Xinwan, or even just ask her sister to stay for dinner.
Unexpectedly, Ye Beiping stopped him.
Doesn't he want his sister to stay?
Don't you like your own family?
A million thoughts immediately popped into my head, but they all boiled down to the same thing: Ye Beiping didn't like his own people, perhaps because he was tired of socializing with them these past few days.
Ye Beiping paused as he was about to go upstairs, and looked at Su Xinyi, saying, "Wife, I have no objection to Xinwan staying, but didn't you see what Dad meant just now?"
"What do you mean?" Su Xinyi was a little confused.
Is there a problem with my younger sister eating at my older sister's house?
And why did the father disagree?
Looking at his wife, who seemed completely oblivious to social niceties, Ye Beiping explained helplessly, "Dad is different from Xinwan. To him, once a daughter is married, she's truly married. Although she's still his daughter, there are certain things he has to be mindful of. Take Xinwan, for example. If she stayed here with us every day, what would others say about Dad? What would they say about your family?"
He started acting like a gossip: "Oh, the youngest daughter of the Su family goes to her son-in-law's house for dinner every day. Can't the Su family afford to support their daughter?"
Pfft!
Su Xinyi burst out laughing when she saw Ye Beiping's performance, but after thinking about it, she realized it made sense.
Indeed, there are differences among married daughters.
Moreover, there's a powerful figure like Min Yuehua at home. If Su Xinwan stays here every day, her family might not have any peace.
Seeing that Su Xinyi looked somewhat dejected, Ye Beiping sighed and said, "Didn't I say that Xinwan can come over on Saturday and Sunday? That way, even if she doesn't eat well, at least she can eat well for the two days she comes to our house, right?"
"Uh-huh."
Hearing these words, Su Xinyi felt relieved.
“You’re right. Then let Xinwan come over on Saturdays and Sundays from now on.”
After resolving the matter, Ye Beiping took Su Xinyi to the second floor and knocked on the door.
Knock knock knock!
Knock knock knock!
"Who is it? Who is it? Knocking on the door every day. If you knock again, I'll smash your head in!" Grandma Qiu cursed as she opened the door.
Upon seeing that it was Ye Beiping, Grandma Qiu rolled her eyes, quickly pulled Su Xinyi aside, and her previously cold expression immediately turned into a gentle one.
"Xinyi, why are you so late?" Grandma Qiu asked with concern, adding with a hint of reproach, "Did that brat Ye Beiping say something?"
I thought Ye Beiping didn't want to cook, which is why he was late.
"No, no."
Su Xinyi quickly waved her hand and explained to Grandma Qiu, "My dad came earlier and said he introduced us to a nanny, so I'm late."
Seeing how much Grandma Qiu cared for her, she felt embarrassed.
In particular, the stark difference in how Grandma Qiu treated her and Ye Beiping made Su Xinyi feel quite awkward.
But this scene was quite amusing.
"nanny?"
Grandma Qiu frowned even more when she heard the word "nanny": "Why would I need a nanny? You'll be eating at my place from now on, why would I need a nanny?"
Upon hearing this, Su Xinyi didn't know how to explain, and could only look to Ye Beiping for help.
The old lady happened to catch this scene and glanced at Ye Beiping, somewhat angrily: "Are you complaining that the food here isn't good, or that the dishes here are making your wife thin?"
"this......"
Su Xinyi felt even more embarrassed and kept giving Ye Beiping meaningful glances.
The latter smiled slightly and said respectfully, "Grandma Qiu, how can I do that? We've taken care of the meals, but what about the laundry and cleaning? We can't let Xinyi do all of that. She can manage now, but when her belly gets bigger, she'll have trouble squatting, let alone doing any housework."
