Chapter 12 Better to Die for Your Fellow Daoist Than for Yourself

Ye Beiping led the two men to the dog hole where the guns were fired.

Upon seeing the three dark guns, Hou Baolin immediately began to caress them with obvious delight: "This... I must say, I've seen them many times, but this is the first time I've ever handled one. My dad never lets me touch a gun, hahaha."

"Let's go." Ye Beiping said as he distributed the three guns and loaded them with bullets.

"OK."

The three of them set off into the deep mountains.

When they reached the mountain pass, Wu Di looked around and said, trembling slightly, "It's so dark, isn't there any danger?"

"What are you afraid of, Fatty? How can you be so cowardly? This is the main road into the mountains, what danger could there be? Besides, we have guns, don't we?" Hou Baolin retorted dismissively.

Wu Di curled his lip and retorted, "You talk as if you can shoot a gun."

"Of course, or else I'll shoot you?"

"Okay, you can release it then."

Wu Di, looking unconvinced, urged Hou Baolin to fire.

Provoked, Hou Baolin snorted coldly, and without saying a word, he pulled back the bolt of his rifle and fired the trigger into the air.

Click!

"Hmm?" Hou Baolin frowned, having not heard a gunshot, and picked up the gun to examine it. "That's not right. I saw them fire like this, so why didn't it go off?"

"Hahaha."

Wu Di was overjoyed and pointed at Hou Baolin, saying, "You can't even use a gun, yet you're bragging to me."

Having no time to deal with Wu Di, Hou Baolin handed the gun to Ye Beiping and said, "Beiping, don't you know how to use a gun? Can you check if it's broken for me?"

Upon hearing this, Ye Beiping pursed his lips and took out a few bullets from his pocket, spreading them out in his palm.

"How can it go off without bullets?"

Wu Di and Hou Baolin's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Damn it, Beiping, why didn't you say so sooner? I knew it! That's how they all fire their guns. Why didn't mine go off?"

"Beiping, you're so unfair! You didn't even give us bullets. What are we going to do if we encounter danger?"

The two men each took a few bullets from Ye Beiping's palm.

Wu Di also loaded the bullet with Hou Baolin's help.

Click!

Both men pulled the bolts at the same time, but Wu Di, the fat man, simply raised his gun, pointing the muzzle directly at Ye Beiping.

Ye Beiping quickly pointed Wu Di's gun upwards.

Bang!

A crisp gunshot rang out, echoing through the mountains and forests.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?" Ye Beiping was also extremely nervous. If he had been a step slower, he probably would have become Wu Di's victim. "Don't point the gun at anyone, what if it goes off accidentally?"

"I..." Wu Di fired his gun for the first time, and his hand went numb from the impact. He immediately released the gun and raised his hand, saying, "I didn't mean to. I didn't know that this was firing a gun."

Hou Baolin, who was standing next to him, also scolded him with disdain: "Do you know that you almost sent Beiping to its death?"

"Go back to your sister." Ye Beiping took Wu Di's gun and slung it over his other shoulder, saying, "Don't fire. We're not far from the village. If the gunshots alert the militia, it'll be troublesome."

"oh oh."

Hou Baolin and Wu Di nodded repeatedly.

"You fatso, you're coming with us."

Wu Di, who had done something wrong, didn't dare to utter a sound even after being scolded by Hou Baolin.

The three of them slowly made their way up the mountain in the dark.

After about half an hour, Wu Di was too exhausted to walk any further and cried out, "I...I can't walk anymore. I need to rest. I'm just too tired."

"You eat so much, what use are you if you can't even walk this far?" Hou Baolin said again with disdain.

"Then...can you blame me?"

Feeling wronged, Wu Di plopped down on the ground. Looking around at the pitch black surroundings, he said with some fear, "Are there any wild boars? We've walked so far and haven't seen a single one. Beiping, say something!"

"Shhh."

Ye Beiping gestured for silence, and the two men immediately tensed up, looking around as Ye Beiping began to do so.

Suddenly, I heard a pattering sound.

“Bei…Beiping, what…what is that sound? Could it be…a ghost?” Wu Di immediately stood up from the ground and hid behind Ye Beiping.

Hou Baolin glanced at the trembling Wu Di and scoffed, "Tch, feudal superstition. Where would ghosts come from in this world? It's probably some kind of wild game. Watch me blow his head off later."

"Shhh."

Ye Beiping frowned and gestured for silence again, then said softly, "Listen, it's making quite a racket. Looks like it's a big one."

“A…a huge thing?” Wu Di’s eyes were filled with terror, he was almost ready to raise his hands in surrender.

Bang!

Just then, Hou Baolin, like a superhero, fired a shot directly in the direction of the sound, without even aiming.

A bullet shot out of the gun barrel and embedded itself in a tree trunk.

"Damn it, come on, I'll blow your head off and scare you."

Upon hearing this, Ye Beiping and Wu Di both gave Hou Baolin a strange look.

Ye Beiping realized that the strongest player was Hou Baolin, who was clearly terrified but still stubbornly insisted on shooting someone in the head.

The pattering sound grew louder and louder, and Ye Beiping became fully alert.

It was unclear whether Hou Baolin, the strongest player, had angered the other party with his shot, but the sound was getting closer and closer to the three of them.

"They're out."
