Chapter 21 Zhang Ming

At this moment, Factory Director Li completely forgot what he had said before: state-owned factories would not cooperate with individual businesses.

Perhaps he forgot about this idea after Ye Beiping mentioned selling leather shoes.

After a short while, Factory Director Li said, "Wait a moment, I'll go out for a bit."

After saying that, he hurriedly ran out of the office.

Ye Beiping was left standing there bewildered in the wind, somewhat confused as to why Director Li had run so fast.

He didn't say much, but just sat down and drank a couple of sips of tea. He was a little thirsty because he had explained a lot earlier.

A dozen minutes later, Director Li returned, followed by a middle-aged man wearing arm sleeves.

A pair of old-fashioned black-rimmed glasses made him look like an old scholar.

Factory Director Li smiled slightly at Ye Beiping and immediately said to the people behind him, "Director Zhang, come and take a look at this drawing. I think it's excellent. If we can produce it, it will definitely solve our factory's current problems."

Director Zhang stepped forward and took a look, his brows suddenly furrowing.

Factory Director Li didn't seem to mind, but instead whispered to Ye Beiping, "His name is Zhang Ming. He's our factory's production director. He studied design and is considered one of our factory's pillars."

Upon hearing this, Ye Beiping nodded slightly, showing no sign of surprise.

In those days, clothing factories didn't have many designers; most of the staff were just people who knew a little about the basics.

Otherwise, it wouldn't have been possible for the Hong Kong style to prevail in the 1990s, leading to the acquisition of domestic garment factories one by one, leaving them completely defenseless.

It's nothing more than being complacent and refusing to learn. They always thought that as a state-owned factory, they had no strong competitors in the past few decades, which led to their products being completely eliminated within a few years. By the time they realized this, it was too late to learn.

Even private factories can't compare.

At least the owners of private factories have seen through the essence of the matter and are willing to spend a lot of money to bring back some overseas returnees. Although they can't compare with international big brands, can't they at least imitate them?

This led to the emergence of China as a major producer of counterfeit goods.

From clothing to electronics, and finally to cutting-edge technology.

There's no way around it; it's called keeping up with the times. We can't compete in terms of creative thinking, but we have a ton of talent when it comes to imitation.

Before Ye Beiping could say anything, production director Zhang Ming clicked his tongue and shook his head: "Factory director, why is this drawing done like this? And can these things even be produced? If someone finds out that you've put the five-star red flag on someone's clothes, won't there be problems?"

"Moreover, the materials used and the patterns all need to be redone, which is very troublesome. How much stock does this customer need?"

The production director is indeed the production director; his first words are full of bureaucratic jargon.

Perhaps it's because I've lived a stable life for too long that I've lost my creativity; now I'm even too lazy to make stencils.

Ye Beiping shook his head helplessly at the old scholar, somewhat disappointed.

Before Director Li could ask, he said, "Our sales team is one of the top teams in the entire province, and even in China."

"Previously, we cooperated with Jiangnan Leather Factory and No. 1 Leather Shoe Factory in Wencheng, and the monthly sales exceeded 50,000 pairs. Director Li, I think that since we have achieved such results with high-end products like leather shoes, clothing should not be a problem. If your factory is too lazy to even make patterns, then I will have to seek cooperation with other clothing factories."

"After all, we have money, so we're not afraid of not finding partners. If we can't find them in Hangzhou, we'll go to other cities. We'll always be able to find garment factories to produce for us."

His attitude was very firm, and his tone was somewhat cold.

With that, Ye Beiping tidied up the crooked drawings he had spent several days creating and prepared to leave.

Factory Director Li panicked and quickly stopped Ye Beiping, saying to Zhang Ming, "Director Zhang, you know our factory's situation. We have business now, it's just making a board, how troublesome is that?"

Unexpectedly, Zhang Ming rolled his eyes and showed no politeness to Director Li.

"Factory manager, I've looked at the blueprints in his hand. Putting aside whether they're even wearable, who would buy clothes like these? Wearing them out would be incredibly embarrassing."

These words also angered Director Li.

He thought the theme of patriotism was good, so how did it become a laughing stock in Zhang Ming's mouth?

Ye Beiping interrupted Director Li, sneering at the old scholar in front of him. He thought that if he didn't retort, the man would think he had great taste.

"Director Zhang, right?"

“That’s right.” Zhang Ming looked up arrogantly, seemingly looking down on Ye Beiping.

He was, after all, the production manager of the Qiaosi Garment Factory, and he boasted that no one could replace him.

I've been working at this factory for over twenty years. I started working here right after graduating from university, so I'm considered a veteran employee now, and I have a high reputation.

So sometimes even Director Li was at a loss with him.

Many of the skilled workers in the factory were Zhang Ming's apprentices, and he practically held absolute power.

"Hehe." Ye Beiping didn't share Director Li's thoughts. He wouldn't even glance at someone who disrespected his superiors, no matter how capable they were, let alone someone as closed-minded as this. He didn't hesitate to mock, "Director Zhang, you say you've made a fool of yourself, but do you even know how far other countries have developed? Do you still think China's garment industry is very advanced?"

"Let's not even talk about developed countries abroad, just take Hong Kong. Do you know anything about their clothing? You know nothing about it and only look at today's clothing industry with the perspective of twenty or even thirty years ago. I really don't know how you got to this position."
