Ye Beiping recounted his encounter with Qiu Mingyue and shared his speculations.
“At the time, I could tell she wasn’t drunk at all; she seemed quite lucid. It seems our previous guesses were wrong. Qiu Mingyue probably had nothing to do with Ding Quan, but she’s hooked up with some leader of the commune.”
"What?" Hou Baolin and Wu Di's eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
Unexpectedly, Qiu Mingyue had gotten involved with someone from the commune.
Hou Baolin and Wu Di escorted Ye Beiping home and then went their separate ways.
As for taking care of Su Xinyi, they don't need to be there either.
Holding Su Xinyi, Ye Beiping entered the house, only to find it pitch black. He could only grope his way back to his room.
"Beiping?"
Just as he carried Su Xinyi to the bed, Tao Qiuyan's voice came from behind him.
Ye Beiping shuddered, almost forgetting the promise he had made to his mother the night before. He immediately grinned and walked to the door, calling out, "Mom, it's me."
Immediately, Tao Qiuyan opened her door and saw Ye Beiping standing there. She frowned and asked, "Why are you back? Isn't it...?"
Upon hearing this, Ye Beiping immediately made an excuse, saying, "Oh, the commander had something come up, so I came back."
"oh."
Tao Qiuyan didn't doubt this at all, but she sniffed and frowned, saying, "You've been drinking?"
They rarely drink alcohol; only Ye Beiping does.
Upon smelling the alcohol, Tao Qiuyan naturally assumed that Ye Beiping was with the leader and must have been drinking, which was normal.
"Yes, I had a little." Ye Beiping smiled awkwardly.
"Then you should go to sleep early."
Tao Qiuyan closed the door without suspicion, and Ye Beiping finally breathed a sigh of relief.
After closing his bedroom door, Ye Beiping walked back to the bedside. In the moonlight, looking at the stunningly beautiful face on the bed, he suddenly felt a pang of emotion.
"We need to be more vigilant next time, or we might get eaten without even realizing it."
As he spoke, Ye Beiping moved a chair over and sat by the bed, watching over Su Xinyi.
Early the next morning.
Ye Beiping felt something moving in his hand. He was a light sleeper, so he could feel even the slightest movement while sleeping in the chair.
Opening his eyes, he noticed that Su Xinyi was about to call out, so Ye Beiping quickly reached out and covered her cherry-like mouth.
"Shh." Making a shushing gesture, Ye Beiping glanced at the door and whispered, "You drank too much last night, so I brought you back. My mom and sister are outside, so don't make a sound."
Su Xinyi blinked and nodded slightly, understanding.
Ye Beiping then released his hand from Su Xinyi's mouth. As soon as he released her, the two of them were so close that they could smell a faint fragrance on each other.
Without realizing it, I wanted to smell it more, so I twitched my nose.
Unexpectedly, Su Xinyi moved back a few steps with a wary look on her face and asked, "What do you want to do?"
Seeing this, Ye Beiping chuckled and sat back down in his chair, pouting: "You're very wary of me, but you're not at all wary of others."
Upon hearing this, Su Xinyi frowned and looked at Ye Beiping, suddenly remembering what had happened last night.
"You...I..." She couldn't utter a complete sentence because her memories were fragmented and quite embarrassing.
Seeing that Su Xinyi seemed to remember something, Ye Beiping pursed his lips and said, "Don't worry, it's nothing. Luckily I got there in time, otherwise I wouldn't know."
Despite his seemingly nonchalant demeanor, he was actually far from appeased by the commune leaders after just one night; in fact, his anger had only intensified.
After all, Su Xinyi was his woman, so how could he not be angry that she had been set up?
Su Xinyi breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that she was alright.
At this moment, Tao Qiuyan's voice came from outside: "Beiping, your sister and I went to work in the fields. Breakfast is in the pot. Get up and eat something yourself."
"Okay," Ye Beiping replied, feigning a sleepy tone.
Then he heard sparse sounds coming from the courtyard. Only after the sounds stopped did Ye Beiping say, "I'll go get you some breakfast. You should rest for a while."
Seeing Ye Beiping's warm and caring demeanor, Su Xinyi nodded like a little girl.
The main reason was that I wanted to be alone for a while and think about what exactly happened last night.
A few minutes later, Ye Beiping returned with a bowl of porridge, blowing on it repeatedly before handing it to Su Xinyi: "The temperature is just right, drink it."

Ye Beiping was asked to stay home and fix appliances when he had free time, and to check on Su Xinyi's condition whenever he had a spare moment. Finding that everyone was doing well, he felt relieved.
