It was past 1 a.m. when the two young militiamen began to doze off.
One of them leaned against the wall and dozed off, while the other kept rubbing his eyes, trying hard not to fall asleep.
Hunter Zhao was getting old, and his spirits were somewhat low.
Zhang Dazhu yawned and muttered to himself.
"Could we be overthinking it? That beast might have already run far away..."
Before the words were finished, a clear bell sound suddenly pierced the night sky!
"Ring ring!!"
Everyone instantly woke up, and the sleeping militiamen jumped up.
Su Jianguo was the first to rush out of the greenhouse, his rifle already loaded.
The others followed closely behind, the beams of six flashlights piercing the darkness like swords.
"Over there!"
Su Jianjun shouted, recognizing the bell as coming from the furthest greenhouse, number four.
The group rushed over, the beams of their flashlights swaying violently as they ran.
When the beam of light shone on the corner of greenhouse number four, a horrifying scene came into view.
There, a large hole had been smashed in the earthen wall of the vegetable greenhouse, and tattered plastic film was fluttering in the night wind.
A huge dark shadow was stuck at the entrance of the hole, frantically twisting its body in an attempt to squeeze in.
Under the moonlight, the wound on its head and the brain tissue beneath the transparent membrane were clearly visible in the flashlight beam, bobbing up and down with the boar king's movements.
"Fire!"
Without saying a word, Su Jianguo immediately gave the order.
"Bang bang bang!"
Gunshots rang out instantly throughout the back mountain.
The wild boar king let out a series of deafening roars and suddenly retreated from the cave entrance.
The bullets hit it, leaving many bullet holes.
"Damn it!"
Zhao the hunter cursed and quickly changed the magazine.
"Is this beast made of iron? He's been shot so many times and he's still fine!"
The wild boar king did not run away; instead, it was enraged.
It took a few steps back, then charged toward the greenhouse at an astonishing speed, its 800-pound weight crashing into the earthen wall like a small tank.
"boom!"
The entire wall was shaking.
"Spread out! Form an encirclement!"
Su Jianguo calmly gave instructions.
"Aim for its head!"
The six men quickly spread out and fired at the boar king from different angles.
The wild boar king seemed to recognize Su Jianjun, its scarlet eyes fixed on him. Suddenly, it changed direction and charged straight at him.
"Jianjun! Watch out!"
Su Jianguo shouted.
Su Jianjun reacted extremely quickly, dodging the fatal blow with a side roll, but the wild boar king's tusks still tore his arm, leaving a bloody mark.
Ignoring the pain, he raised his hand and fired a shot, this time aiming for the boar king's eye.
"Bang!"
The bullet grazed the boar king's cheek, leaving a bloody mark, but it missed a vital spot.
The wild boar king, in pain, became even more ferocious.
It no longer charges blindly, but begins to circle around the crowd, looking for weaknesses.
This tactical maneuver sent chills down everyone's spine.
This is not the kind of intelligence that wild beasts would possess!
The wild boar king's frantic running around was very effective.
Many shots were fired, but none of them hit him.
"It...it can even dodge bullets!"
A young militiaman's voice trembled, and he could barely hold his gun.
"Don't panic!"
Su Jianguo shouted sternly.
"Uncle Zhao, you and Dazhu flank from the left. Jianjun and I will hold them off from the front. You two young men, go around to the back, but keep your distance!"
Everyone acted swiftly according to the instructions.
The boar king seemed to have sensed the change in tactics and suddenly changed direction, charging towards the two young militiamen who looked the weakest.
"ah!"
One of the militiamen was so frightened that he turned and ran, but tripped and fell to the ground.
At the critical moment, Hunter Zhao fired a shot from the side, hitting the wild boar king squarely in the front leg.
The wild boar king staggered and its attack slowed down slightly.
Su Jianguo seized the opportunity and fired three shots, all aimed at the wound on its head.
"Aww—"
The wild boar king let out a painful howl; this time it was truly injured.
A corner of the transparent membrane was broken, and dark red blood mixed with cerebrospinal fluid flowed out.
But what's terrifying is that it didn't collapse; instead, it became even more frenzied.
Those scarlet eyes were fixed on Su Jianguo, as if they recognized him as the leader.
The wild boar king suddenly stood upright, its front hooves flailing in the air before crashing down, shaking the ground.
"It...it's demonstrating!"
Zhang Dazhu exclaimed in surprise.
This is not the instinctive behavior of a wild beast, but a provocation that is almost human!
Su Jianguo felt a chill run down his spine.
This wild boar king has exceeded his understanding of wild animals.
It holds grudges, is tactful, and even understands psychological intimidation...
"Concentrate your firepower!"
Suppressing his fear, Su Jianguo spoke firmly.
"Aim at its head wound and fire!"
The six quickly huddled together, forming a semi-circular encirclement. All their guns were aimed at the horrific wound on the boar king's head.
"Three, two, one—fire!"
“Bang bang bang bang!”
The wild boar king writhed wildly amidst the hail of bullets, letting out heart-wrenching screams...
Gunshots echoed through the back mountains as the boar king's massive body crashed to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Under the moonlight, its head, riddled with bullet holes, was a horrifying sight. The transparent membrane was completely shattered, and brain tissue mixed with blood slowly flowed out.
Its limbs were twitching slightly, and a dying gurgling sound came from deep in its throat.
"Don't go over there!"
Su Jianguo suddenly shouted at Zhang Dazhu, who was about to step forward, to stop him.
