"I guarantee the remaining four tons will be delivered within a week!"
Su Jianguo frowned slightly and tapped his fingers lightly on the table.
He glanced at the wall clock; it was already past four in the afternoon.
Time waits for no one, and the expansion plan for the vegetable greenhouses must be started as soon as possible.
"Director Liu, we value integrity in business."
Su Jianguo's voice was calm and steady.
"One week, we can't delay any longer."
"Definitely! Definitely!"
Factory Director Liu breathed a sigh of relief and quickly made his assurances.
"I'll immediately arrange for workers to work in three shifts, even if they don't eat or sleep, we'll finish it for you!"
Su Jianguo nodded, stood up, and shook hands with Director Liu.
He knew that the plastics factory was having a tough time, and taking on this order was a lifeline for them.
But business is business, and he had to make sure his plans weren't affected.
"Arrange for a truck to move these six tons away right now."
As Su Jianguo spoke, he handed 1,000 yuan to Factory Director Liu.
Factory Director Liu took the money, his face immediately breaking into a smile, and he promptly instructed the factory's transportation manager to arrange a vehicle.
Half an hour later, a Jiefang truck loaded with plastic film stopped at the factory gate.
"Mr. Su, would you like to take one of our factory's cars back?"
Factory Director Liu asked solicitously.
Su Jianguo shook his head and patted the truck door.
"I'll take this truck; it's perfect for escorting the goods. It'll go directly to Sujiatun, saving the hassle of transshipment along the way."
Soon, the truck drove out of Beijing and headed straight for Sujiatun.
Su Jianguo sat in the passenger seat, looking out the window at the gradually darkening sky.
The driver, Lao Zhang, was an honest and unassuming middle-aged man who didn't talk much the whole way and focused intently on the steering wheel.
"Mr. Su, what's the purpose of this plastic?"
Old Zhang finally couldn't resist his curiosity and broke the silence.
"Build vegetable greenhouses."
Su Jianguo smiled.
"We grow off-season vegetables in winter and sell them in the city."
Old Zhang stared wide-eyed in surprise.
"How can vegetables grow in this freezing weather?"
"able."
Su Jianguo said confidently.
"As long as the temperature is controlled properly, cucumbers and tomatoes can both grow."
A truck drove through a harvested cornfield, startling a flock of sparrows.
Su Jianguo began to think about future plans.
Once the six new greenhouses are completed, production will increase several times over. This will not only ensure a stable supply to existing customers but also open new sales channels and even expand into other major markets.
As darkness fell completely, the truck's headlights illuminated the bumpy dirt road ahead.
Su Jianguo glanced at his watch; it was already past eight o'clock in the evening.
In the distance, the lights of Sujiatun can be faintly seen.
"Turn right ahead and drive straight to the vegetable greenhouses behind the village."
Su Jianguo gave Lao Zhang directions.
When the truck's headlights illuminated the four white sheds, Su Jianjun was on night duty with several villagers.
Seeing a car approaching, he cautiously picked up his flashlight and shone it over.
"elder brother?"
Su Jianjun recognized Su Jianguo as he got off the truck and exclaimed in surprise.
"Why are you back at this hour? And in a big truck?"
Su Jianguo patted the dust off his clothes and said with a smile.
"The plastic has arrived, a full six tons! Let's unload it first."
Su Jianjun was overjoyed upon hearing this and immediately called the villagers on night duty to come and help.
Under the bright light of the gas lamps, a dozen strong laborers began unloading rolls of plastic film from the truck.
"Brother, why is there only six tons? Didn't you say you'd buy ten tons?"
Su Jianjun asked as he moved the goods.
"The factory doesn't have enough stock; the remaining four tons will be delivered in a week."
Su Jianguo explained.
"But that won't affect our plans; we'll start the expansion tomorrow!"
"Expansion?"
Su Jianjun's eyes lit up immediately.
How many new greenhouses do you need to build?
Su Jianguo held up six fingers.
"Six! Adding to the existing four, that makes a total of ten greenhouses. We can produce over a thousand kilograms of vegetables a day!"
Su Jianjun was so excited he almost jumped up, nearly dropping the plastic roll in his hand.
He quickly regained his composure, but couldn't hide his excitement.
"Great! This is going to double our business!"
It was past 11 p.m. when the cargo was unloaded.
Su Jianguo thanked the driver, Lao Zhang, and arranged for him to stay in the village for one night before returning to the city.
The two brothers, carrying flashlights, walked around the four existing greenhouses in the moonlight.
"Jianjun, look over there."
Su Jianguo pointed to an open space on the west side of the greenhouse.
"The terrain there is flat and close to a water source, making it suitable for building new greenhouses."
Su Jianjun nodded.
"That land is wasteland belonging to the village collective. We should be able to use it if we talk to the old Party Secretary. However, some parts are uneven, so we'll have to level the land first."
"Let's go see the old Party Secretary first thing tomorrow morning."
As Su Jianguo spoke, he yawned.
"Go back and get some sleep first, I'll be busy tomorrow."
The next day, Su Jianguo got up just as dawn was breaking.
After a quick wash, he took a measuring tape and a wooden stake and went to the open space he had his eye on the night before.
The morning dew soaked his trouser legs, but he didn't care. He focused on measuring the land, occasionally driving wooden stakes into the ground to mark the spots.
Around 8 o'clock, Su Jianjun's tractor had already returned from the city.
"Brother, how's the measurement going?"
Su Jianjun asked.
Su Jianguo straightened up and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"It's about 100 meters wide from east to west and about 60 meters long from north to south, enough to build six standard greenhouses. However..."
He pointed to the northwest corner.
