Chapter 175 Su Jianjun is kidnapped

He recalled Shen Daqiang's sinister gaze, and a terrifying guess took shape in his mind.

Back at the makeshift shed on the construction site, Su Jianguo was restless.

He kept walking to the door and looking around, hoping to see his younger brother riding home on his bicycle the next second.

The workers sensed the unusual atmosphere, and no one dared to speak loudly.

"Mr. Su, shall we search along the way?"

Old Wang suggested.

Just as Su Jianguo was about to answer, he suddenly noticed a thin figure loitering outside the workers' shed.

It was a boy of about seven or eight years old, wearing patched clothes, peeking timidly inside.

"Little friend, is something the matter?"

Su Jianguo walked out of the work shed and asked.

The boy nervously swallowed and pulled an envelope from his pocket.

"Yes, an uncle I don't know asked me to give this to you."

Su Jianguo's heart sank.

He took the envelope and asked nervously.

"Which uncle? What does he look like?"

"No, I don't know him."

The boy shook his head.

He was wearing a hat and a mask, so I couldn't see his face. He gave me fifty cents...

Su Jianguo quickly opened the envelope, inside was only a piece of paper torn from a notebook, on which was written.

"If you want your brother to live, prepare 20,000 yuan. Put him in the biggest cave behind Shenjiabao Mountain before 8 PM tomorrow night. If you dare call the police, you can expect to collect his body. Don't try anything funny, we're watching you."

Su Jianguo gripped the letter tightly.

His worst fears came true.

Jianjun was kidnapped, and the kidnapper was clearly a repeat offender, skilled in the art, leaving no clues.

"Mr. Su? What happened?"

Su Jianguo took a deep breath and forced himself to calm down.

He crouched down and asked the boy as gently as possible.

"Little friend, what else did that uncle say? Where did he give you the letter?"

"Under the big tree at the village entrance."

The boy answered timidly.

"He just said he'd give you the letter, and that was it."

Which way did he go?

The boy shook his head.

"I don't know, I took the money and ran home..."

Su Jianguo knew he wouldn't get any more information from the child.

He felt his pocket and pulled out a few coins.

"Thank you for sending the letter. Here, I'll buy you some candy. Remember, don't tell anyone about this, okay?"

The boy nodded, took the money, and ran away quickly.

Su Jianguo walked outside the shed, gazing at the pitch-black night, his mind filled with countless thoughts.

Twenty thousand yuan is not a small amount, but what he is more worried about is...

Even if the ransom is paid, will Jianjun be able to return safely?

What if these kidnappers take the money and then kill the hostage?

Moreover, Shen Daqiang's involvement is obvious; he might even be the one who did it.

Su Jianguo clenched his fist.

He must rescue his brother, but at the same time, he must make these lawless criminals pay the price.

"Mr. Su, what's wrong?"

Old Wang leaned closer and, seeing Su Jianguo's ashen face, immediately lowered his voice.

"Jianjun has been kidnapped."

Su Jianguo said somewhat angrily.

Upon hearing this, the workers in the shed stopped what they were doing, and the air froze instantly.

Su Jianguo turned to Lao Wang and said.

"Gather everyone, grab your weapons, we're going to Shen Daqiang's house."

"Shen Daqiang?"

Old Wang's eyes widened.

"You suspect it's him..."

"It's not doubt, it's certainty."

A cold glint flashed in Su Jianguo's eyes.

"No one but him would do such a thing."

Ten minutes later, more than 20 workers, carrying shovels, wooden sticks and other tools, followed Su Jianguo in a large procession toward Shenjiabao Village.

We arrived at Shen Degui's house.

Su Jianguo gestured for the workers to disperse and surround the house, while he led Lao Wang and two other sturdy workers directly toward the gate.

"Shen Degui! Open the door!"

Su Jianguo pounded on the wooden door.

A commotion broke out inside the room, followed by Shen Degui's panicked voice.

"Who is it? Who is it? It's so late..."

"It's me, Su Jianguo!"

Su Jianguo said sternly.

"Get your son out here!"

The door creaked open a crack, and Shen Degui's panicked face appeared in the gap.

When he saw the workers standing behind Su Jianguo with weapons, his face turned deathly pale.

"Comrade Su, what's the matter so late? Daqiang... he's not home."

Su Jianguo sneered and pushed the door open, barging inside.

Shen Degui staggered back a few steps, almost falling.

"You, you're trespassing!"

Shen Degui stammered, but his voice clearly lacked confidence.

Su Jianguo ignored him and quickly searched the main room, the inner room, and even the kitchen and woodshed, but Shen Daqiang was nowhere to be found.

Inside the house were only Shen Degui and his petite wife, who stared in horror at the group of uninvited guests.

"Shen Degui."

Su Jianguo grabbed the old village chief by the collar and pinned him against the wall.

"Your son kidnapped my brother, where is he now?"

"W-what?"

Shen Degui's eyes widened in surprise.

"Impossible! Daqiang may be a scoundrel, but he would never do such a thing!"

"Yeah?"

Su Jianguo took the extortion letter out of his pocket and waved it in front of Shen Degui.

"The ransom of twenty thousand is to be delivered to the cave behind the mountain by eight o'clock tomorrow night. Besides your son, who would know that I, Su Jianguo, am wealthy? Who would know that my brother went to the county town today?"

Shen Degui's face turned from white to green, and his lips trembled as he couldn't speak.
