"Field training is great! The troops should conduct more field training exercises whenever they have free time, so that the people can see the spirit of our soldiers."
Yes, yes.
Su Mingchao's voice also sounded more relaxed.
"I remember their battalion did recently have plans to... well... familiarize themselves with the terrain in that area."
"That's great."
Su Jianguo understood immediately.
"Tomorrow at noon, Lijia Village, the weather is nice, perfect for... a long training exercise."
"I will pass on the message to my comrade."
Su Mingchao paused.
"Uncle, please be careful. Don't get hurt."
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."
Su Jianguo gave a few more instructions and then hung up the phone.
Su Jianguo breathed a long sigh of relief after hanging up the receiver.
He leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes to rest.
Now, he has double protection.
The "bodyguards" in the open act as a deterrent, while the troops in the shadows provide support.
If the Song family dares to make any rash moves, they will pay a heavy price.
...
The next morning.
The morning sunlight streamed into the Song family courtyard through the carved window lattices.
Song Tieshan stood in the center of the main hall, pacing back and forth with his hands behind his back.
His brows were furrowed, and his eyes flickered with an unpredictable light.
"Brother, you didn't sleep all night?"
The third brother, Song Tiezhu, walked in rubbing his sleepy eyes. Seeing Song Tieshan's appearance, he couldn't help but slow his pace.
Song Tieshan stopped in his tracks, his gaze sweeping over the third brother like a knife.
"Any news from the second brother?"
Song Tiezhu shook his head.
"Not yet. Beijing is far from here. Even if we travel all night, we won't arrive until this morning."
Song Tieshan snorted heavily, turned around and walked to the octagonal table, his fingers unconsciously tapping the surface.
The tea on the table had gone cold, but he was completely unaware.
"Brother, don't worry too much."
Song Tiezhu cautiously advised.
"We can make plans after Second Brother has thoroughly investigated Su Jianguo's background."
"Worry?"
Song Tieshan gave a cold laugh.
"I, Song Tieshan, have lived most of my life; when have I ever been afraid of trouble?"
He slammed his hand on the table.
"I just can't swallow this! A mere brat, with a few men in suits, dares to act so arrogantly in front of the Song family's gate!"
Song Tiezhu shrank back, not daring to reply.
He knew his older brother's temper; saying anything at this moment would only add fuel to the fire.
Footsteps sounded in the courtyard, and the fifth brother, Song Tiejun, walked in with Song Guixiang.
Song Guixiang specially changed into a simple outfit today, and her hair was neatly combed, making her look much more docile.
"Uncle."
Song Guixiang spoke timidly.
"I...I'm ready, I can go to the Wang family anytime..."
Song Tieshan gave her a cold glance.
"What's the rush? Let's wait for your second uncle's message."
Song Guixiang lowered her head, a hint of resentment flashing in her eyes, but she quickly regained her submissive expression.
She was severely reprimanded by her father last night and now dares not act recklessly anymore.
"Big brother."
Song Tiejun rubbed his hands together.
"Should I take Guixiang there first? After all, we promised to do it at noon today..."
"Shut up!"
Song Tieshan interrupted sharply.
"I said I'd wait for news from the second son! Do you think I'd want the women of the Song family to kowtow to others?"
The scar on his face turned bright red with anger.
"But if Su Jianguo really does have powerful connections, we can't confront him head-on."
Song Tiejun awkwardly stepped aside, not daring to say another word.
Time ticked by, and the atmosphere in the Song family compound grew increasingly tense.
The servants walked on tiptoe, afraid of disturbing their master who was in a bad mood.
It was almost noon.
Suddenly, the sound of a motorcycle came from outside the courtyard.
Song Tieshan suddenly stood up and strode towards the courtyard gate.
The second son, Song Tielin, got off the model, looking excited.
"Big brother! We've found out!"
Song Tieshan grabbed his younger brother's shoulder.
"Tell me quickly! Who exactly is Su Jianguo?"
Song Tielin was panting heavily, a ferocious smile on his face.
"What a load of rubbish! That kid's just a vegetable vendor in Beijing! All that big boss stuff, it's all an act!"
"What?"
Song Tieshan's voice suddenly rose, and the muscles on his face twitched violently.
Are you sure?
"Absolutely true!"
Song Tielin pulled a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket.
"I spent fifty yuan to get this information from the Beijing Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce. Su Jianguo, the owner of 'Su's Vegetable Shop' in the Xicheng District of Beijing, is just an ordinary self-employed individual!"
Song Tieshan snatched the paper away, his eyes wide with surprise.
The paper clearly showed Su Jianguo's basic information, along with a photocopy of his vegetable shop's business license.
"Where are the bodyguards?"
Song Tieshan's voice trembled with anger.
"Bullshit bodyguards!"
Song Tielin spat.
"I asked around, and those were all temporary workers he hired. The clothes were rented from a photo studio, and the guns were probably fake too!"
Song Tieshan's face turned from red to green, and then from green to white.
He gripped the paper tightly, his eyes wide with anger.
"Bang!"
Song Tieshan suddenly swept the tea set on the table to the ground, and the sound of porcelain shattering echoed in the courtyard.
"Su Jianguo!"
He roared the name through gritted teeth.
"You fucking dare to mess with me!"
The entire Song family compound trembled because of this roar.
The Song brothers and their servants rushed over from all directions and gathered outside the main hall.
