Thinking about this, Su Jianguo became somewhat angry.
"Fighting someone over a pair of broken sunglasses... how much are those things even worth? If you wake up, I'll buy you ten pairs."
The green line on the monitor jumped steadily, clearly unresponsive to this outpouring of emotion.
Su Jianguo suddenly leaned down, his forehead resting on their clasped hands, his shoulders trembling violently.
"Wake up, you bastard..."
His voice was muffled by the sheets.

Su Jianguo slowly tightened his grip on Wu Ermaida's hand.
"I'll teach you how to make a slingshot and take you bird hunting... You could never seem to learn before, but this time I'll teach you step by step..."
Just then, the sunlight streamed through the window and shone onto the hospital bed.
Su Jianguo looked up at Wu Ermai's handsome face, which was still quite bluish-purple in the sunlight.
"Oh, right..."
He forced an awkward smile.
"Here's what we'll do. Once you're better, I'll find you a wife. I've already inquired around; it's Old Liu's daughter from the next village. Although she has a slight limp, she's very hardworking..."
His voice suddenly choked up.

On the bedside table, the broken pair of sunglasses lay quietly.
The frame was twisted and deformed, and the lenses were nowhere to be found.
Su Jianguo reached out and picked it up.

He rubbed the dent on the frame with his thumb.

His voice suddenly rose in pitch.
"Don't you like looking at girls? Wear your most fashionable clothes and go out on the street! We can look all we want!!"
Just then.
The green line on the monitor suddenly flickered.
Su Jianguo suddenly stood up.
"Second Brother?"
He trembled as he leaned closer, almost touching Wu Ermai's face.
"Did you hear that?"
His breathing became rapid.
"Just move your hands! Blink your eyes! Anything will do!"
As if in response to his call, Wu Er's eyelids trembled slightly.
Su Jianguo froze on the spot as if struck by lightning, his breath caught in his throat.
"Doctor... Doctor!"
He suddenly turned and rushed towards the door, his voice cracking.
"Help! He moved! His eyes moved!"
The sound of hurried footsteps echoed in the corridor.
On the hospital bed, Wu Er's eyelids twitched again, this time more noticeably.
His lips parted slightly, and he made a faint, almost inaudible sound.
"Jian...Brother Jianguo..."
These three words were like a blunt knife, stabbing directly into Su Jianguo's heart.
He staggered back to the bedside, gripping Wu Er's dirty hands tightly. The grown man finally couldn't hold back any longer and burst into tears.
"I'm here! I'm right here!"
His tears fell onto their clasped hands.
"Good brother...you've finally..."
He couldn't continue, so he could only press his forehead against Wu Er's dirty hand, letting his tears soak the bandage.
Wu Er's shabby eyes slowly opened a crack, his cloudy pupils struggling to focus.
His lips moved, and Su Jianguo quickly moved closer.
"sunglasses..."
Wu Er's voice was very soft, and Su Jianguo finally managed to hear it with great effort.
"Oh no...it's all wrong...I didn't...protect..."
These words made Su Jianguo cry even harder.
He rubbed his face haphazardly, but the more he rubbed, the wetter it became.
"Are you stupid?! Who wants you protecting that piece of junk?!"
At that moment, the doctors and nurses rushed in.
Su Jianguo was pushed aside.
The doctors began to give Wu Er a detailed examination.
"What a miracle!"
After the examination, the old doctor took off his stethoscope and sighed.
"It's amazing that he woke up after such severe brain damage..."
He turned to look at Su Jianguo.
What did you say to him?
Su Jianguo opened his mouth, but found that his throat was blocked and he could not speak.
He could only shake his head.
The doctor patted him on the shoulder.
"His vital signs are stable, but these injuries..."
He glanced at the medical record. "She'll need at least another month to recover."
After the medical staff left, Su Jianguo returned to the bedside.
Wu Er's eyes were fully open, and he was looking around blankly.
Upon seeing Su Jianguo, a smile suddenly bloomed on his face, like a child who had found his home.

He said, sounding aggrieved.
Su Jianguo carefully touched his face.
"I know...I know..."
"It's okay, you'll be fine in a few days. Once you're better, we'll go eat roast duck, at the same place we went to last time."
Wu Er's eyes lit up for a moment, but then dimmed again.
"Sunglasses... gone..."
"purchase!"
Su Jianguo said firmly.
"Let's go tomorrow! Buy ten sets! You can change one set each day!"
"As long as you live well..."
Wu Er laboriously raised his hand, and Su Jianguo quickly grasped it.
That hand was so thin it was practically skin and bones, yet it gripped Su Jianguo's hand with surprising strength.
"Brother Jianguo..."
Wu Er suddenly said.
"I...I dreamt of my mother..."
His gaze drifted to the distance outside the window.
"Mother, Mother said... said you're good..."
Su Jianguo forced himself to hold back his tears.
