"The boss said we need to make sure there are no police lying in ambush."
The other person clicked their tongue impatiently.
"Brother, you're being too cautious. Where would you find a policeman in this desolate wilderness?"
"Shut up!"
Scarface's henchman shouted.
"What do you know? That Su Jianguo is no pushover. He's the kind of guy who can make tens of thousands of yuan a year selling vegetables. You think he's an ordinary person?"
Time passed by, and the only sound in the forest was the rustling of leaves in the wind.
Finally, a full hour after Su Jianguo left, the two kidnappers nimbly jumped down from the tree.
"Finally, I can move again!"
The younger kidnappers rubbed their numb legs and eagerly ran to the side to unzip their pants.
"I'm so suffocating!"
He walked to the side, urinating while complaining.
"My brother's too cautious; he made me wait an hour before coming down. In this freezing weather, squatting in a tree for so long, my balls were practically frozen off!"
The older kidnapper looked around warily.
"Better safe than sorry. Last time, 'Blackie' was too careless and got caught by the police while collecting the ransom."
The two entered the cave, and the young kidnapper immediately spotted the backpack on the rock.
He rushed over excitedly, unzipped the zipper, and the bundles of banknotes were still conspicuous in the dim light.
"I've struck it rich!"
He grabbed a wad of money and rubbed it on his face.
"Twenty thousand yuan! That kid was right, Su Jianguo really is rich!"
The older kidnapper inspected the backpack and nodded in satisfaction.
"Well done. Let's go back and report."

The young kidnapper suddenly lowered his voice.
"Didn't the boss say that once we got the money, we'd...get rid of the hostage?"
The older kidnapper glared at him.
"We'll talk about this when we get back! Let's get the money back safely first."
The two quickly left the cave and walked along a hidden path into the deep mountains.
However, what they didn't know was that several sharp eyes were tracking their movements from all angles.
On a distant high ground, Captain Li Qiang observed everything through binoculars and whispered into the radio.
"Target spotted, two individuals, moving northwest. Group A and Group B, take turns tracking, maintaining distance."
He turned to Su Jianguo beside him.
"Comrade Su, you don't need to follow us for the rest of the operation. We will rescue your brother."
However, Su Jianguo disagreed.
"No, I have to go with them!"
Su Jianguo grabbed Captain Li Qiang's arm.
"That's my own brother, I can't just sit here and wait!"
Li Qiang frowned as he looked at the man with bloodshot eyes; his expression was unreadable beneath the camouflage paint.
A hissing sound came from the radio; in the distance, members of the tracking team were reporting on the kidnappers' movements.
"Comrade Su, this is not a child's play."
Li Qiang lowered his voice.
"The other side might have guns, we..."
"I don't care!"
Su Jianguo's voice was hoarse.
"Jianjun was arrested because of me, and now his fate is unknown. I promise to follow orders and will not cause any trouble!"
Li Qiang stared at Su Jianguo for a few seconds, then finally sighed.
"Stay close to me, don't stray even for a moment. If the mission fails because of you..."
"I take full responsibility!"
Su Jianguo said firmly.
Li Qiang whispered a few words into the radio, and soon two special police officers brought over a set of spare equipment.
Su Jianguo put on the bulletproof vest, his fingers trembling with nervousness.
"The target has shifted southeast and is moving towards Shenjiabao."
The latest report came over the radio.
Li Qiang frowned.
"Not going back to the city?"
He quickly unfolded the map, and Su Jianguo leaned over and immediately recognized the path.
"This is the shortcut to the back village of Shenjiabao!"
The team set off immediately, with more than ten special police officers moving through the forest like ghosts.
Su Jianguo followed closely behind Li Qiang, taking each step with extreme caution.
They bypassed the main road and followed the kidnappers' footprints.
The occasional laughter of the kidnappers could be heard in the distance, exceptionally clear in the silent mountain forest.

The voice of the young kidnapper came through.

"Shut up!"
The older man scolded.
"Be careful what you say!"
We walked for a while longer.

Li Qiang suddenly raised his hand to signal, and the entire team instantly froze.
Several farmhouses appeared at the end of the woods ahead, and the kidnappers were heading towards one of the more secluded brick houses.
"Location confirmed: No. 17, Houcun Village, Shenjiabao."
Li Qiang spoke into the radio, simultaneously signaling the snipers to take their positions.
"Attention everyone, the target may be armed. Prioritize the safety of the hostages."
Su Jianguo stared intently at the farmhouse, then suddenly remembered something.
"That's the home of Widow Liu in Shenjiabao!"
Seeing Li Qiang's questioning gaze, he explained in a low voice.
"I heard it from the villagers. It seems that Widow Liu's husband died young, and that Shen Daqiang and Widow Liu were having an affair..."
The farmhouse yard was overgrown with weeds, and the windows were covered with yellowed newspapers.
After cautiously looking around, the two kidnappers pushed open the door and entered.
Through the torn window paper, one could see shadowy figures moving inside the house.
Li Qiang quickly assigned tasks: one group to block the back door, the second group to occupy the high ground, and the third group to prepare to breach the door.
Su Jianguo was assigned to a command post at a safe distance.
