She deliberately sat next to the old lady, talking while eating.
"Grandma, I heard that a new bathhouse opened not far from us, and it's really impressive."
The old lady asked curiously.
"What kind of bathhouse is it?"
"Oh dear, that would be terrible!"
Li Jinhua's eyes lit up, and she began to describe it vividly.
"The floor is covered with white ceramic tiles, so shiny you can see your reflection. The water in the pool is constantly steaming, and there's a shower nearby, so you can shower however you like."
The old lady listened intently, her chopsticks even stopping in mid-air.
"Then... how much will it cost?"
"Not expensive at all."
Li Jinhua waved her hand.
"It's so cheap, only 50 cents per person. The best part is it's comfortable! The water's always hot, you can soak as long as you want, and someone even scrubs your back!"
The old man took a sip of his wine and asked casually.
"Where do all the teachers at your school go to wash?"
Li Jinhua was taken aback for a moment, then smiled.
"That's right! Our school even gives out bath tickets, saying it's to show they care about the teachers' well-being."
She turned to the old lady.
"Grandma, how about I take you to see it later? I don't have class this afternoon, so I don't need to go."
The old lady hesitated.
"This...isn't that too extravagant?"
"Oh, what's five cents!"
Li Jinhua affectionately took the old lady's arm.
"You've worked hard your whole life, it's time to enjoy yourself. Besides, if you don't give it a try, how will you show off to the old ladies in the village?"
The old lady was somewhat tempted by what she heard and glanced at the old man.
"Old man, look..."
The old man took a sip of wine.
"Go if you want to; it's rare for Jin Hua to have this kind of thoughtfulness."
A triumphant smile flashed across Li Jinhua's face, and she quickly gave Su Mingqiang a wink.
Su Mingqiang understood and immediately picked up his wine glass.
"Grandpa, let me toast you! You fought so hard against the Japanese invaders back then, now it's time to enjoy your retirement!"
The old man looked at his grandson and slowly raised his wine glass.
"You little rascal, when did you become so good with words?"
I have always respected you!
Su Mingqiang tilted his head back and downed the wine in one gulp, wincing from the spiciness.
"Grandpa, you are the pride of our family. Who in the village doesn't know how you single-handedly wiped out three Japanese strongholds back then?"
A hint of a smile flashed in the old man's eyes as he downed his drink.
"That's all in the past."
"How can it be something from the past!"
Su Mingqiang quickly filled his grandfather's cup.
"Look how good life is now, isn't it all thanks to the foundation laid by your generation? This glass is a toast to all the old heroes like you!"
Seeing this, Li Jinhua quietly tugged at the old lady's sleeve.
"Grandma, shall we go? The water in the pool will get dirty if we stay any longer."
The old lady glanced at the grandfather and grandson who were still drinking, and hesitated.
"Is it alright for them to drink so much?"
"It's alright!"
Li Jinhua smiled.
"Mingqiang can hold his liquor well, and besides, Grandpa's rarely in a good mood, so let them have a few more drinks."
She leaned close to the old lady's ear.
"I heard that the bathhouse offers massage services, it must be so comfortable..."
The old lady was finally persuaded.
"Then... let's go."
Li Jinhua immediately got up and helped the old lady walk outside.
"Grandpa, I'm taking Grandma to the public bathhouse. You and Mingqiang can drink slowly!"
The old man nodded and gave his grandson a deep look.
"Go ahead, be careful."
As soon as the door closed, Su Mingqiang immediately picked up his wine glass again.
"Grandpa, let me toast you again! You don't know how much I've admired you since I was little, and I've always dreamed of becoming a hero like you!"
The old man slowly sipped his wine, looking at his grandson with a half-smile.
"Really? I remember you were most afraid of me when we were kids?"
Su Mingqiang blushed.
"Well, that's because you're too imposing!"
He filled his grandfather's cup again.
"This toast is to our Su family. To have produced a hero like you is an honor for our entire clan!"
And so, one toast after another, Su Mingqiang said every toast he could think of.
From filial piety to military achievements, from family honor to personal future.
The old man accepted all offers of wine, drinking more and more, but his eyes became increasingly clear.
The old man drank one and a half jin of the two jin of 60-proof liquor, but his face was slightly flushed.
Su Mingqiang had only drunk half a jin of liquor when he was already slumped over the table, snoring loudly.
The old man shook his head and drank the rest of the wine in one gulp.
"Hmph, this silly boy, trying to get me drunk? You're still too green."
He stood up and walked steadily into the inner room, showing no sign of drunkenness.
At the same time, Li Jinhua was leading the old lady toward the bathhouse.
She kept asking around along the way.
"Grandma, what kind of alcohol does Grandpa usually like to drink?"
How much alcohol does he drink?
How much savings do you have at home right now?
The old lady initially answered a few questions, but gradually became suspicious.
"Jin Hua, why have you suddenly become interested in these things?"
Li Jinhua quickly smiled.
"I just wanted to learn more about Grandpa so I could take good care of you both in the future."
The old lady nodded and didn't say anything more, but her heart was pounding.
.
By the time Li Jinhua helped the old lady out of the bathhouse, it was already past three in the afternoon.
The old lady's face was glowing, her hair was still damp, and she looked much more energetic, with a radiant complexion.
"Grandma, please slow down."
Li Jinhua supported the old lady's arm, a sweet smile plastered on her face, but in her mind she was calculating the time.
