He had been working for six hours straight without even having lunch, yet he hadn't even finished checking one account.
Suddenly, the office door was pushed open, and Li Changhai walked in with two strangers.
"Section Chief Su, these two are comrades from the Discipline Inspection Commission."
Li Changhai's voice carried a deliberate seriousness.
"They've come to conduct a spot check on how last year's safety production funds were used."
Su Mingde suddenly stood up, the chair making a screeching sound.
"Discipline...Discipline Inspection Commission?"
"Yes, how's the accounting coming along?"
Li Changhai asked.
Looking at the messy ledgers in front of him, and then at the two serious-looking discipline inspection officials, Su Mingde felt a wave of dizziness.
"I...I'm still here..."
"Still organizing?"
Li Changhai sighed and turned to the people from the Discipline Inspection Commission.
"I'm sorry, Section Chief Su has just taken over the job, so perhaps..."
"Director Li."
One of the discipline inspection officials interrupted him.
"These accounts look very messy; the original vouchers and approval documents don't match up."
Li Changhai looked troubled.

Another discipline inspection official picked up an account book and flipped through it.
"Several expenditures here are suspicious; the amounts are substantial, yet no responsible person has signed them."
Su Mingde felt his legs go weak, and he vaguely realized that he might have fallen into a carefully designed trap.
"Section Chief Su."
Li Changhai suddenly said seriously.
"Please cooperate with the disciplinary committee's investigation and truthfully explain the situation."
"I...I don't know..."
Su Mingde's voice trembled.
"This is the first time I've seen these accounts today..."
"Yeah?"
The discipline inspection official gave him a meaningful look.
