He Wenlin took the test paper and went upstairs.
Teacher Lin first explained the last three major questions to her, and then corrected her work.
"Teacher, could you please write down the solution process for the questions I got wrong next to them?" He Wenlin asked.
“You don’t need to go down, just watch from the side,” Teacher Lin said.
Math problems don't have answers you can see at a glance; you have to calculate them.
Teacher Lin started calculating from the first question, and He Wenlin got the first one wrong. How embarrassing!
In one class period, Teacher Lin spent the entire time going over the test paper with her alone.
By the end of get out of class, the test paper hadn't been finished; it dragged on for another twenty minutes.
All the students at the school have left.
He Wenlin hung up on her father when he called.
Finally, He Wenlin calculated that out of a total of 150 points, she scored 90, barely passing.
"Keep working hard on math! There are still a few months left, and you still have a chance to get into a good school," Teacher Lin encouraged her.
"Thank you, teacher."
He Wenlin's current goal is to complete one math test paper a day, plus extra practice problems from her workbook. For physics and chemistry, she aims to complete one test paper every three days, plus extra practice problems from her workbook each day.
The extracurricular exercise book had answers, so He Wenlin checked the answers herself after finishing it.
If He Wenlin encounters a problem she doesn't know how to solve, and the answer key only provides a "omitted" instead of a solution, she has no choice but to ask her teacher for help.
He Wenlin plans to study humanities in the future, so no matter how much she hates math, she still has to work hard on it because it will be necessary in high school.
She only wanted to pass physics and chemistry, but she didn't want to do them in high school. She thought math was too much, and she couldn't bear to have to study physics too.
He Wenlin called her father back: "The teacher was explaining a problem to me just now. I'll be right down. Wait a few minutes."
