July 10th.
After breakfast, Hu Meiling and Tan Mingyuan drove her to the airport in their van; she was going back to Shaoxing today.
At 2:30 p.m., He's father picked up He Wenlin at the airport in Xiaoxian County.
"Are Zhenzhou and Dongguan fun?" Mr. He asked as he drove.
“If we have the chance, Dad, let’s take the whole family to Zhenzhou for a trip. It’s really developing there,” He Wenlin said. “Dongguan is a bit worse. It’s very chaotic. We encountered two robberies in one night.”
He Wenlin didn't mention her encounter with the drunkard and hooligans, fearing that if she did, she wouldn't have the chance to go out alone again.
However, she learned her lesson and will always bring someone with her when she goes out in the future, to avoid getting into trouble.
“Meiling called me,” Mr. He suddenly changed the subject.
He Wenlin's brow twitched, and she probably guessed what her father was going to say.
Mr. He continued, "Why would you go to someone else's house and say those things? Your sister said she's not blaming you; she knows you meant well and wants you not to be angry."
"I'm not angry."
At first, He Wenlin was indeed a little angry, but after thinking about it, Hu Meiling's attitude was not wrong.
She was reborn, so she has a God's-eye view, but Hu Meiling is just an ordinary person.
Mr. He added, “I also think you should have said it in private. Saying these things at the man’s house makes them lose face, and his family will have a problem with your sister. What will people think of your sister after she gets married? Say nice things to his face, and say unpleasant things in private.”
"Haha, Dad, I never thought you could teach me this now." He Wenlin laughed. "You've really improved so quickly."
Just think back to how her father used to be able to shut He Wenlin up with his words.
Father He scolded with a dark face: "You have no manners! I'm your father. You're more capable than me, but I've lived a much longer life than you have. Can't I teach you how to conduct yourself in society? Who do you think you are?"
He Wenlin repeatedly said, "I can teach, I can teach."
After a pause, He Wenlin explained, "I know it's inappropriate to talk about these things in other people's homes, but I've actually already talked to my sister about it privately. I told her to be careful and to sign a contract. Even married couples get divorced, let alone them who are just dating. If they break up, will she be able to get the money back? What if the other party doesn't acknowledge it? I talked to her about it privately, but she didn't pay attention. It just so happened that the Tan family brought it up again when we went out to eat that day. I was afraid she would be embarrassed to say that she should sign a contract, so I said a few more words."
He Wenlin felt that Hu Meiling really didn't blame her. When she spoke to her, she was probably just teaching her how to conduct herself and pay attention to her methods.
He Wenlin added, "Dad, if you don't believe me, just wait and see. My cousin's boyfriend is unreliable. She doesn't listen to me. I've reminded her time and time again, but she doesn't take it seriously. She'll definitely regret it!"
Seeing how absolute He Wenlin's words were, He's father felt a little worried.
Mr. He thought he would call Hu Meiling later and have a good talk with her.

I finally got home around 4 p.m.
"Sister, you're finally back!" He Wenjun rushed over to greet his father when he saw him park the car.
"How's business at the convenience store?" He Wenlin asked with a smile. "Look at your mouth, you must have sneaked some snacks. You didn't even wipe your mouth clean."
Upon hearing this, Mr. He scolded, "You're eating snacks again! You don't eat your meals properly, all you do is eat snacks. How can those things be good for your health?"
"I only ate one bag of spicy strips." He Wenjun's gaze fell on He Wenlin. "Sis, did you bring me a gift?"
"There's not much to buy there. In late August, I'll take you to Shanghai. You can buy whatever you want then."
Shaoxing is not far from Shanghai, but despite its proximity, I've never been there.
"Sister, you must have had a hard time going to Zhenzhou this time." He Wenjun busied himself pouring water and cutting watermelon.
Mr. He felt a little jealous. He was usually exhausted, like a dog, and this kid had never been so attentive.
"Sister, have some watermelon to quench your thirst. Dad, you have some too." He Wenjun handed the watermelon to He Wenlin first, and then to her father.
"Thanks."
He Wenlin was indeed thirsty, and the watermelon, which had been chilled in the refrigerator, tasted very refreshing.
After finishing the watermelon, He Wenjun gave He Wenlin a towel to wipe her hands.
He Wenlin laughed and said, "Why are you being so considerate today? There's no smoke without fire. Did you do something to betray me?"
He Wenjun shook his head vigorously, like a rattle-drum: "Big sister, how could I possibly wrong you?"
Then she added, "Sis, I got perfect scores on my final exams. You told me to keep a diary every day, and I have been doing that. I've also been practicing my handwriting every day, and I've been doing two pages of my summer homework every day..."
"Uh, and then what?"
"Can I play on the computer a little longer each day? Just a little bit more."
He Wenlin has already bought a computer, but it's installed in her own home, not in the rented apartment. After all, she'll be moving there in a few months, and there are always people around at her place. Plus, she's installed security doors and windows, making it safer.
"All he does all day is play," Mr. He said irritably.
"Bring me your diary, homework, and calligraphy practice books so I can take a look and see if they meet the standards."
As soon as He Wenlin finished speaking, He Wenjun hurriedly pulled out his homework and handed it to He Wenlin for inspection.
"I can tell you've been working hard," He Wenlin said. "I can let you play for an extra twenty minutes every day, but only during the summer vacation."
"Thank you, sis!"
He Wenjun jumped up with joy.
I feel like I'm walking on air.
Father He: "Just keep spoiling him."
“I don’t call this spoiling him, I call it a clear system of rewards and punishments, a combination of kindness and strictness,” He Wenlin said. “At his age, he should be having fun. You can’t push him too hard. You need to guide him properly. The more you don’t want him to play, the more he wants to play. It’s already quite good that he can earn more playtime by performing well and achieving good grades. You’ve never seen a boy who lingers in the arcade and no amount of scolding or beating works.”
"I can't argue with you, so I'm going back to the fast food restaurant." At this hour, the fast food restaurant must be busy, so Dad He is going back to help.
“I’ll go with you.”
He Wenlin followed closely behind.
"Boss He." After walking a few steps, he encountered a woman in her early thirties.
Carrying fruit in her hand, she walked with a swaying hip, exuding a touch of charm.
He Wenlin felt that this person looked familiar, but she couldn't remember where she had seen him before.
"Young Master He is back too." The woman approached with a smile. "I just bought some fruit, would you like to try some?"
"No need, thank you," He Wenlin politely declined.
"Don't be so polite with me. Look at you, all sweaty. Go wipe it off." The woman took out a wet wipe to wipe Mr. He's sweat.
Mr. He quickly took two steps back: "No need, thank you, you're too kind."
He turned his face to the side and raised his arm, wiping the sweat from his face onto his short-sleeved sleeve.
Upon seeing this, He Wenlin's brow twitched, and she sneered inwardly.
