Chapter 200 Yan Xiaoqiang went to the county town

Bei Nan and Yan Xiaonan both understood that Mao Tou was now their number one target for capture. Only if Mao Tou was caught could his cousin escape, so Mao Tou had to hide.

Yan Xiaonan went to the kitchen and secretly got some food for Maotou. Maotou was indeed starving and wolfed down a large bowl of food. Finally, he patted his stomach and sighed. "Wang Erniu will probably betray me because he always comes to see me. Luckily, he doesn't know you're in contact with me," Maotou added.

"I think you should find your cousin right away and tell him what happened here. You need to be quick, or it will be troublesome," Yan Xiaonan suggested.

“I know, but I can’t get out. I heard them waiting at the station from the grass. If I go there, I’ll be caught.”

This is troublesome. Yan Xiaonan looked at Bei Nan, not knowing what to do.

The door was pushed open, and the three of them were startled. Looking at the serious face in the doorway, they couldn't help but feel a little guilty. It turned out that Yan Xiaoqiang had come in.

“I heard everything outside. Just stay here and don’t move. I’m going to the county town tomorrow. Tell me your cousin’s address,” Yan Xiaoqiang said coldly.

Mao Tou was overjoyed and quickly asked Bei Nan for paper and pen, writing down his cousin's name and address. Yan Xiaoqiang, holding the paper, said, "You silly boy, what if I sell you?"

Maotou shook his head repeatedly: "Beinan is my brother. I trust Beinan, so I also trust Beinan's family."

Yan Xiaoqiang patted him on the shoulder and said, "Your name is Maotou, right? Listen to me, this isn't the right world for you. You should change careers."

Mao Tou nodded. He was also scared half to death today. His first reaction was to crawl into the dog hole. After crawling out, he carefully gathered the hay and ran straight to the haystack. Ye Chenming was afraid that there would be too few haystacks and that he would be easily discovered, so he made a dozen or twenty.

He found a haystack at the back and crawled inside. He heard everything he should and shouldn't have heard. Maotou gritted his teeth, controlling his urge to rush out and hit someone, and hid inside without moving.

I don't know how long I waited, until there was no more sound outside, before I quietly climbed out of the haystack. Well, several haystacks had already been searched. I guess they were in a hurry and didn't have time to search the later ones, which saved me from a disaster.

I originally planned to hide somewhere and take a bus to the county town tomorrow to find my cousin and tell him what happened here. But now I'm sure I'm being watched, so I can only ask Bei Nan for help. I hope I haven't implicated Bei Nan, after all, he has a whole family.

The next morning, Yan Xiaoqiang caught the first long-distance bus to the county town. The station was crowded with people, and everyone had to be carefully examined before boarding, making everyone very nervous.

Yan Xiaoqiang had been to the county town several times and was quite familiar with it, but it still took him some time to find Maotou's cousin. The place where they were hiding was really good, and it wouldn't be easy for anyone to find them. The cousin already knew what was happening in town, and he was also worried about his younger brother.

Upon learning that Maotou was currently hiding in Beinan's house, he frowned deeply: "You're Beinan's father, right? I have to go and bring Maotou over, otherwise your family will be in trouble."

Yan Xiaoqiang nodded, but how to pick up the person was a problem. His cousin smiled, took out a car key and handed it to someone next to him: "Uncle, you and my brother will run a errand and bring Maotou back today."

The man nodded, took the key, and left. Yan Xiaoqiang was a little confused. What was going on?

"He's my brother, like Bei Nan and Mao Tou, the kind of really close friends. When you ride back to Mushroom Village in his car, try to take him along the back roads," my cousin explained simply and clearly.

So that's how it is. Yan Xiaoqiang was relieved and quickly followed the man outside. It turned out to be a jeep with a military overcoat inside, which the man had already put on.

The car was driving rather fast. The journey would take three or four hours by long-distance bus, but the jeep only took a little over two hours. Yan Xiaoqiang thought of the back mountain where he did business with the Zhao brothers.

So he pointed to a small path, a path that was rarely used and therefore difficult to navigate, but for this fellow, it was no problem at all.

Grandma Yan walked into Bei Nan's room, raised the eye bag stick, and Bei Nan knelt down with a thud. "Grandma, I was wrong, I will change, I will definitely change, please hit me."

Maotou wanted to kneel down too, but Grandma Yan stopped him: "Maotou, tell Grandma, does your cousin have a car?"

Yan Xiaonan told his grandmother that his father had gone to the county town to find Maotou's cousin, so his grandmother guessed that his cousin must have a car, just like the Zhao brothers, because how could they do this job without a car?

Maotou nodded: "Grandma, we have vehicles, big trucks and jeeps."

Grandma Yan nodded: "Beinan, this afternoon you can put your clothes and hat on Maotou. Nannan, take Maotou to the back mountain. Your father must have taken his cousin there to wait."

Grandma Yan lit her pipe, took a deep drag, and thought, "This brat has to be sent away safely, or the family will be in trouble."

After lunch, Yan Xiaonan prepared some food for Maotou to eat on the road, which she put in Bei Nan's basket. Bei Nan always carried a basket when she went out. Then she lay down on the bed, but her consciousness wandered out.

Yan Xiaonan's trail led towards the town, unaware that Wang Erniu's house had been turned upside down. Wang Erniu hadn't returned all night, a fact Wang Gou Dan hadn't known before; he simply assumed Wang Erniu had gone to the foot of the mountain to catch pheasants.

So they left the food in the pot, waiting for Erniu to come back to eat. But when they woke up in the morning and saw the food still in the pot, they thought Wang Erniu had fallen asleep. They wanted to ask Pan Gaozhi when he came out for breakfast.

What he didn't know was that Pan Gaozhi was now so scared that he didn't know what to do. Wang Erniu had told him about going to the black market before, and had gone a few times before, always returning after two or three hours.

But from yesterday until now, she has been waiting and waiting, and Wang Erniu has not returned. Pan Gaozhi knows that something has happened to Wang Erniu, but she dares not say anything. She can only wait in the house, her stomach growling with hunger, but she dares not go out to eat.

Wang Gou Dan was unhappy and kicked his wife: "Go see what they're up to."

Erniu's mother could only lift the curtain and go inside, only to see Pan Gaozhi sitting alone on the kang (a heated brick bed).

"Gaozhi, where's Erniu?" Erniu's mother asked.

Pan Gaozhi made up her mind and decided to keep it completely a secret, pretending to know nothing when asked: "Mother, I don't know either. Erniu didn't tell me. I haven't seen Erniu since I woke up."

"Erniu's father, Erniu went somewhere early this morning, and Gaozhi doesn't know either. Gaozhi, come out and have breakfast." Erniu's mother called out to Pan Gaozhi.
