Yan Zheng had already woken up once in the morning. He could hear Yan Ge telling him that Nan Nan was coming today. He could feel Yan Ge washing his face, wiping his body, and changing his clothes. He tried hard to open his eyes, and his eyes loosened up a lot. Yan Zheng even saw a beam of light.
Perhaps he had overexerted himself and fallen into a deep sleep. So when Yan Xiaonan used her special ability on Yan Zheng, Yan Zheng felt his whole body suddenly warm up and he felt much more comfortable.
Yan Xiaonan looked at Yan Zheng's trembling eyelids and estimated that another attempt tomorrow should be able to wake him up. If he still couldn't wake up by tomorrow, it would prove that her special ability was ineffective against this kind of coma, and then she would have to rely on the doctor.
Yan Ge brought over breakfast. The hospital breakfast was pretty good, with big meat buns and white porridge. The two ate breakfast and talked about Yan Zheng's affairs, without mentioning Yan Erqiang at all.
When Yan Xiaonan told Yan Ge that Southeast and Southwest would be coming to Beijing next week, he was very happy. He hadn't seen his cousins for a long time, and he also seemed to have heard from his father that they had already had two children.
Speaking of Yan Xiaonan, Yan Ge must be getting on in years. He should be twenty-eight this year. Why isn't he married yet?
Yan Ge gave a wry smile: "Nan Nan, my father was fired from the factory, so who do you think would marry me!"
Yan Xiaonan was shocked. What had this scumbag done to get fired from the factory?
Yan Ge ran to the door and looked outside. Finding no one there, he quickly ran back and whispered, "My dad got into an affair with a woman at the factory. He gave all the family's money to her, and even my mom's salary. When my mom found out, she reported my dad. The factory took into account that they were both long-time employees with families and children, so they didn't file a police report and just fired them."
"How much money did your dad give that woman?" Yan Xiaonan felt that her judgment when she was a child was very correct; this scumbag would turn bad if he had money.
"What I know is that there was 500 yuan in the savings account, as well as some other receipts and such. I was also fired from the factory because of this. I was a temporary worker, and my mother is not yet of retirement age, so I can only take over when she retires," Yan Ge replied.
"Did your mom get a leave of absence this time she came to the factory?" Yan Xiaonan asked with some concern.
"They gave her a leave of absence. I heard it was because her youngest son was injured, a heroic act. The factory gave her three months of leave, but she won't get paid for those three months," Yan Zheng said with a wry smile.
"Do you have any money on you?" Yan Xiaonan was about to take out her money.
Yan Ge quickly refused: "When I was a temporary worker, I earned twelve yuan a month. I gave them three yuan a month for food, and I spent two yuan a month on my own lunch. I saved the rest of the money."
"Didn't you receive the telegram I sent? I even gave you fifty yuan." Yan Xiaonan asked.
"No, we just received a telegram from my brother's unit, along with fifty yuan and a certificate, telling us to take the train here."
Yan Xiaonan was relieved, as long as Yan had money on him: "Then I'll go first. Come back at the same time tomorrow. I'll bring breakfast tomorrow, so you don't need to buy any."
Yan Ge nodded, knowing that Nan Nan was doing this to save him money.
After returning home, Yan Xiaonan and Cuihua started preparing to take more food to the hospital tomorrow. Grandma Yan asked Yan Xiaonan, "Nannan, how is your second uncle?"
Yan Xiaonan suppressed a laugh: "Grandma, the doctor said we need to use some medicine for allergy treatment, and we can only be discharged after the swelling goes down."
Grandma Yan chuckled and scolded, "You little rascal, you're getting more and more naughty. Your mother has finished making the clothes. Wear your new clothes and show them to Grandma later."
Seeing the milkman walk out, Cuihua whispered to Yan Xiaonan, "Girl, what exactly happened?"
Yan Xiaonan's consciousness spread outwards, and Grandma was already sitting in the recliner, ready to turn on the radio to listen to Peking Opera. She angrily threw the dough in her hand onto the board: "Mom, that Cai Min is so mean, she curses Grandma to die quickly so she can get her share of the inheritance."
"What?! This vicious woman! How could she do this? Honey, why did you make their faces swollen like steamed buns?" Cuihua's eyes turned red with anger.
"I'll let the ants bite them both, make them feel the pain, and teach them a lesson," Yan Xiaonan sneered.
"Yes, let them suffer. It's really too much. They call themselves city people? Bah!" Cuihua vigorously kneaded the lump of dough, as if it were the scumbag couple.
The sound of Peking Opera gongs and drums rang out outside, and Grandma Yan began to hum along, swaying her head and bobbing her head. She wondered how the people on TV walked, yes, they walked with a measured gait. She figured she couldn't walk like that anymore, so she just waved her hand.
Seeing her grandmother entertaining herself, Yan Xiaonan felt a little guilty. She thought that after her brother Ai Dang got married, she would take her grandmother out to play and see the sights. There were many fun and delicious places in Beijing.
"Grandma, after Brother Ai Dang gets married, I'll take you to eat the famous Peking duck, see the place where the emperor lived, buy you some of the most fashionable clothes in the capital, and take you to the theater. What do you say?" Yan Xiaonan ran out and promised.
Grandma Yan's eyes lit up: "Baby, are there still theaters now?"
“Yes, how about we go see ‘Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy’ and ‘The Red Lantern’ after we finish eating today?” Yan Xiaonan heard from her classmates at school that they were going to see plays on the weekend, so she inquired about it and found out that there would be two plays performed today.
Grandma Yan was excited and kept telling Cuihua to hurry up and serve dinner so they could go see a play afterward. Yan Xiaoqiang asked for the address, grabbed his bicycle, and headed out the door: "Mom, I'm going to buy tickets."
"Hey, let's all go, don't forget to buy anything," Grandma Yan said from behind.
"Okay, my whole family will go," Yan Xiaoqiang replied.
The Red Lantern Show started at 2 PM. Yan Xiaoqiang bought four tickets and came back just in time to see Cuihua finish preparing lunch. Everyone quickly ate lunch and went out. Yan Xiaoqiang carefully locked the door before leaving.
There was a bus right outside that went directly to the theater, so Yan Xiaoqiang didn't ride his bicycle. The four of them got on the bus, bought tickets, and only after hearing the conversations of the people around them did they realize that everyone on the bus was going to see a play.
Before the play even started, Yan Xiaonan already knew the plot. Sigh, how come these people are so good at chatting? They already know the plot, so what's the point of watching it? But Grandma and Mom and Dad listened with great interest, especially Grandma, who kept asking questions.
Seeing her grandmother's excited expression, Yan Xiaonan felt a pang of sadness. The old woman was almost eighty and had never even been to a theater. Fortunately, she discovered it in time; it's never too late to mend the fence after the sheep are lost.
Yan Xiaoqiang's ticket was relatively close to the front. The stage lights slowly came on, and what seemed like a simple stage design to Yan Xiaonan was incredibly beautiful to Grandma Yan.
