Chapter 42 Naming the Little Wolf

Grandma Yan had no idea, but Cuihua reminded her that these rabbits were probably caught by the old wolf to feed the wolf cubs. So she told Cuihua to skin the rabbits and save the skins for Nannan to make a fur coat, and to cook the meat for the wolf cubs.

Upon hearing that it was for wolves, Bei Nan and Xin Nan were somewhat disappointed. They hadn't eaten meat in a long time, and they pouted unhappily.

Grandma Yan didn't care about any of that. She turned around and went inside to check on Yan Xiaonan, wondering if her granddaughter was awake. When she went in, she was delighted to see the little girl talking to the wolf.

"What should I call you? Southeast, Southwest, North South, I'll just call you Central South." The little wolf whimpered in agreement.

"If your dad catches a rabbit, are two enough for you to eat every day? The rest can go to my family." The little wolf whimpered in agreement.

"You're not allowed to bite anyone outside, except bad guys." The little wolf whimpered in agreement.

"Go bathe in the river every day and clean yourself up." The little wolf whimpered in agreement.

"By the way, my family is going to raise chicks in a couple of days, so don't scare them. I'm waiting for them to lay eggs for me to eat." The little wolf whimpered again, agreeing.

Grandma Yan couldn't help but laugh out loud. Ever since Nan Nan was found, her little mouth had become incredibly talkative, making her and Cuihua very happy.

After helping Yan Xiaonan get dressed, the two, one human and one wolf, walked out of the house. The two tiny creatures exuded an aura of unparalleled heroes, making Bei Nan extremely envious.

Just as he was about to walk up and touch the wolf cub's head, the wolf cub revealed its sharp little teeth, which startled Bei Nan so much that he took several steps back. Yan Xiaonan looked at Bei Nan strangely, wondering what this guy had done to offend Zhong Nan.

Yan Xiaonan pointed at the little wolf and said to everyone, "Come, come, let me introduce you. This is my younger brother, Zhongnan."

*Pfft!* Yan Xiaoqiang, who was drinking water, spat it out. "My goodness! When did I give birth to a wolf cub?" Cuihua was also embarrassed and didn't know what to say. Southeast, Southwest, and North South all looked at the little wolf, muttering "Central South," which sounded like their younger brother.

Xuemei was laughing so hard she couldn't stand up straight. "My little aunt, how can you be so cute?" She went over and picked up Yan Xiaonan, kissing her passionately. "So cute, so lovable! Zhongnan, Zhongnan, what a wonderful name!"

Southeast walked over to Yan Xiaonan and said, "Baby, my dear sister, let's talk about changing this little wolf's name, okay?"

Yan Xiaonan shook her head. "It's fine, I won't change it." Xinan smiled, walked over and patted the wolf's head, saying, "Okay, let's go with Zhongnan. It sounds nice. Nannan's younger brother is also my younger brother, right?" Zhongnan hummed in agreement.

Seeing that the wolf cub could still interact, Southwest was overjoyed. Just as she was about to speak, North South shouted, "I disagree! What kind of nonsense is this? Letting a wolf cub be called Zhongnan? People will laugh at us when we go out." Before she finished speaking, Zhongnan pounced on her and knocked North South to the ground, revealing its sharp teeth.

Yan Xiaonan panicked and, while breaking free from Xuemei's embrace, shouted for Zhongnan to shut up. Zhongnan indeed released Beinan and walked towards Yan Xiaonan. Yan Xiaonan raised her fist at the wolf head and punched it repeatedly.

Yan Xiaoqiang and Dongnan watched the wolf cub nervously, ready to pounce at any moment should the wolf cub try to harm their daughter. However, the wolf cub sat down under Yan Xiaonan's fist, its two front paws still holding its head, whimpering softly as if begging for mercy.

Yan Xiaonan warned, "If you dare to bully my family again, I'll abandon you and you can go back to the mountains."

The little wolf wagged its tail and rubbed against Yan Xiaonan's arm, acting cute. Grandma Yan found it a bit cringe-worthy to see the little wolf, who was almost as tall as her granddaughter, acting cute.

A strong smell of urine filled the air. It turned out that Bei Nan was terrified and had wet her pants. She was sitting on the ground and couldn't get up. Yan Xiaoqiang gave Bei Nan a disgusted look. "Coward, not even as good as a one-and-a-half-year-old girl."

Southeast pulled Bei Nan back into the house. Xue Mei hurriedly went to boil water and cook rice, as Southeast and her parents still had to go to work later and couldn't be delayed. Southwest rushed between Xiao Lang and Nan Nan, spreading her arms to protect Yan Xiao Nan, afraid that Xiao Lang would hurt her sister.

Seeing this, Cuihua and Grandma Yan finally understood why Nannan was so kind to Xinan. Look at this child, trembling with fear herself, yet still protecting her younger sister. She's truly admirable.

Yan Xiaonan ran up and hugged Xinan's leg, but she couldn't reach his arm because she was too short. Xinan quickly said to Yan Xiaonan, "Little sister, quickly hide next to Daddy, brother will protect you."

Yan Xiaonan was deeply moved and told herself that she would never let Xinan suffer any injustice in the future. The little wolf wagged its tail at Xinan and whimpered something. Xinan gradually calmed down and said to the little wolf, "You can't hurt Nannan, or I will never let you get away with it." The little wolf hugged its head, as if admitting its mistake.

Yan Xiaonan tugged at Southwest's pants and said, "Second Brother, how about we have spicy rabbit meat today?" Southwest was puzzled; could rabbit meat be made spicy?

Yan Xiaonan laughed, thinking of her poor second brother, who knew that spicy rabbit heads were incredibly delicious: "Of course! You want more rabbit heads? Second brother, eat more!"

Looking at Yan Xiaonan's smiling face, as warm as a spring breeze and as pure as the autumn moon, Xinan suddenly felt relieved. His little sister was like a fairy, and the little wolf was there to protect her; he would never hurt her.

Yan Xiaonan ran to the door of the main room. Five snow-white rabbits were neatly arranged. Yan Xiaonan stretched out her fingers and counted them one, two, three, four, five. Then she asked the little wolf, "Zhongnan, which two do you like to eat? Pick them out and let my mother cook them for you. The rest should be cooked into spicy rabbit meat."

Zhongnan let out a howl, circled the rabbits, picked out the two biggest and fattest ones, and placed them in front of Cuihua, his intention very clear: go and cook them for me.

Cuihua was a little stunned. This wolf cub wanted her to cook meat for it. Wolves like to eat it raw, so why cook it?

The little wolf was also aggrieved. "I wanted to eat it directly, but my parents said I had to listen to this little girl. She said to cook it before eating, so I cooked it before eating."

Southwest asked Yan Xiaonan, "Nannan, don't wolves eat meat directly? Why cook them? And how do you know how to count?"

Yan Xiaonan was also dumbfounded. Oh dear, at the age of one and a half, and without any formal training, how could she know how to count? How could she have forgotten? Also, wolves are supposed to eat raw meat, right? It's not like I'm raising dogs. In my previous life, I raised dogs, and I would buy meat and bones, wash them, cook them, and then feed them to the dogs. Sigh, I'm obsessed.
