The train chugged along towards the capital, but Bei Nan regretted going back. He was scared and uncertain. What would he say to his grandmother? What would he say to his parents? He hoped he wouldn't see Nan Nan, but he also wanted to see this little girl. He used to hear her calling him "Third Brother" in his dreams, and then he would stay up all night.
Ah Tie had never known that Bei Nan had such a vulnerable side, and he couldn't help but find it funny, yet he also felt inferior. Apart from Ah Long and a few other brothers, he had no relatives at all and couldn't understand the feeling of being nervous when returning home. Suddenly, he longed for a home, a home of his own, a woman of his own, and of course, a child of his own.
I own a manor and a business in Vancouver, but I've never thought about finding a girl from there. I always felt that the girls from my hometown were the best match for me. Why don't I take this opportunity to have someone introduce me or get to know someone myself and find a like-minded girl to spend my life with?
Ah Tie was thinking about what kind of girl he should find. First of all, she had to be pretty, have a beautiful figure, and have a gentle temperament. Most importantly, she had to be well-educated and reasonable. Otherwise, it would be pointless for the two of them to always be fighting.
Bei Nan was thinking about how to explain her experiences over the years to her family. Although Mao Tou had already played the victim for her, she really couldn't bring herself to play the victim in front of her family.
Lost in thought, time flew by, and the train finally arrived in Beijing. Ah Tie had been to Beijing once before, and he skillfully hailed a rickshaw and told the train the address of the courtyard house. Actually, there were also courtyard house addresses in the north and south, but he just couldn't say them; the words were on the tip of his tongue, but he couldn't make a sound.
The weather in Beijing in January was very cold, but fortunately, both of them had brought down jackets, which helped them keep warm. When the rickshaw arrived at the gate of the courtyard house, Bei Nan stood in front of the gate, raised her hand as if to knock, but then put it down again. After doing this several times, Tie Ge got impatient and ran up to knock on the copper ring on the courtyard house gate.
The courtyard was quiet, and there was no response after knocking many times. Bei Nan felt a pang of pain in her heart. Could it be that Brother Long had told them that he was coming back today, so they were all avoiding her? A Tie shook his head: "Bei Nan, they've probably gone out to buy New Year's goods."
"Oh yeah, the Lunar New Year is just a month away. I'd completely forgotten about it!" Bei Nan's eyes lit up, and she pulled A Tie up, asking, "Brother Tie, do you know where the market is?"
Ah Tie shook his head. He really didn't know. "How about we find a guesthouse and come back tonight?"
Bei Nan nodded, that was all they could do. A Tie led the dejected Bei Nan toward the guesthouse. He knew the way, but he didn't know if the guesthouse still had any rooms available.
"Bei Nan, turn left ahead and you'll reach the guesthouse. Go on, oh dear, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to." A Tie was trying to point out the location of the guesthouse to Bei Nan, but his hand accidentally poked someone, and in the worst possible spot.
Fu Qingping brought Ye Huixian to Beijing for the Chinese New Year. Her husband, son, grandson, and granddaughter were all in Beijing, so she asked Ye Huiguo to find two plane tickets to fly to Beijing. The two of them arrived yesterday and wanted to visit a clothing store and a furniture factory today. They planned to come back together tonight to cook dinner.
Unexpectedly, a hand reached out from the alley on the right and poked Ye Huixian's chest. Not only were Ye Huixian and Fu Qingping startled, but Tie Ge was also taken aback. This wasn't Canada, where women could be touched so casually. One wrong move and you could get into trouble.
Ye Huixian was initially furious, but Tie Ge apologized repeatedly, even bending his back to a ninety-degree angle, so he couldn't bring himself to say anything accusing. He could only glare at him and then pull Fu Qingping away.
Bei Nan looked at the two people and realized they looked very familiar. Her mind raced, and suddenly she shouted, "Ye Chenming, are you Ye Chenming's family?"
Fu Qingping and Ye Huixian were taken aback. They had been so angry when A Tie bumped into them that they hadn't paid any attention to the man next to them, but the man actually knew Chen Ming.
The two quickly turned to look at Bei Nan, feeling that the man exuded a strong sense of hostility. Although his face seemed vaguely familiar, they couldn't quite place him. Hesitantly, they asked, "Who are you? Do you know Ye Chenming?"
"I am Yan Beinan, Yan Xiaonan's third brother," Beinan said loudly.
"Are you Bei Nan? Bei Nan from Mushroom Village? How come you've changed so much? Where did you go? Did you see Nan Nan? Did you see your grandma and your mom and dad?" Fu Qingping asked a series of questions right off the bat.
Bei Nan was happy, but her eyes were red. She didn't know how to control her emotions. She was happy, but why did she feel sad? She wanted to see her grandmother and family, but why did she want to run away?
Fu Qingping learned everything from Ye Chen'er about what happened back then, and he also had his own opinions about Bei Nan. However, many years had passed, and there was no objection to talking about the past again. He smiled and said to Bei Nan, "There's no one in the courtyard, right? They're all at the clothing store and the furniture factory. Just follow us."
Bei Nan nodded. He also wanted to see Nan Nan's fashion store, but what about the furniture factory? Did his father go to work at the furniture factory? Didn't he give them two million? Why wasn't he resting at home? It must be too tiring.
After boarding the bus at the intersection, Fu Qingping told Bei Nan that the clothing store was very close, only a few stops away, and told Bei Nan not to worry. Bei Nan thanked Grandma Fu for her help and wanted to give back in kind, but then realized that she had nothing, not even a piece of candy.
"Grandma Fu, I don't know where there is a supply and marketing cooperative. I want to go and buy some things to show my respect to my grandma and my parents."
"There's a shop about ten minutes' walk from where we get off the bus. They sell New Year's goods there. You can go and have a look," Fu Qingping replied.
They chatted back and forth, and soon they arrived at the next few stops. Bei Nan helped Fu Qingping off the bus. This time, A Tie was very careful to let Ye Huixian get off first, while he stood behind and blocked the crowd from getting off. He only got off the bus after Ye Huixian was safely on the road, which angered the people behind him, but they all glared at A Tie.
"Thank you, but you don't need to do that. It's easy to get robbed, and your wallet is easily stolen. Oh no, my wallet is gone!" Before Ye Huixian could finish speaking, he realized that his handbag had been cut open with a knife, and his wallet had been stolen.
Bei Nan was talking to Fu Qingping and didn't notice who was standing around them. Tie Ge, on the other hand, was trying to make up for his carelessness and was shielding Ye Huixian from people. He knew exactly who was around and what they looked like.
Unfortunately, he never expected that even so, someone would still dare to reach out. It was all his fault for only paying attention to the face and not the hand. After thinking for a moment, he looked at the car that was about to leave and ran over to it.
