Cuihua and Yan Xiaoqiang were already standing at the door. Watching Ye Chenming help Yan Xiaonan into the room, they finally breathed a sigh of relief. They were so scared!
"Chenming, you're here. Have you eaten yet? Shall I make you a bowl of noodles?" Cuihua asked.
Ye Chenming's mouth watered. He hadn't eaten Cuihua's cooking for several months, and he really missed it.
"Okay, Mom, Nan Nan, would you like something to eat?" Ye Chenming was more worried that Yan Xiaonan was hungry.
"Okay, I'll have some too. Mom, please cook more. I want to eat egg noodles," Yan Xiaonan said.
Cuihua nodded repeatedly and plunged into the kitchen. The house was well-stocked with food and drinks, and there were even several refrigerators.
Grandma Yan slowly walked downstairs, and Ye Chenming quickly ran over to help her: "Grandma, why aren't you asleep yet? Did I wake you up?"
Grandma Yan said with a smile, "If you don't call, Nan Nan can't sleep, and if she can't sleep, neither can I."
Ye Chenming touched his nose: "Grandma, I wanted to give Nannan a surprise, so I deliberately didn't call."
"I know, I know. I knew as soon as you rang the doorbell, so we didn't go down to open the door. We even forgot about the steps at the entrance. Luckily, everyone is safe and sound."
Ye Chenming then realized why Nan Nan had opened the door; it turned out that his grandmother and the others had deliberately not come downstairs to open the door. How heartwarming!
Steaming hot noodles were served. Ye Chenming picked up his chopsticks and started eating, muttering "delicious, delicious" as he ate. Yan Xiaonan, with eyes bigger than her stomach, was just a glutton and put down her chopsticks after a couple of bites.
As a result, Ye Chenming ate both bowls of noodles cleanly, even drinking the broth completely, which made Yan Xiaonan feel sorry for him: "Don't you have any food to eat at home?"
"Of course there's food, but Auntie's cooking isn't as good as Mom's, and you know how the cafeteria food is—it's just for filling your stomach," Ye Chenming said, feeling aggrieved.
“Then my in-laws’ grandfather will definitely be coming too, probably in the next few days,” Grandma Yan said.
Ye Chenming paused for a moment, recalling his grandfather's somewhat teasing tone when he called. He shrank back, realizing he had forgotten his grandfather's needs.
Yan Xiaonan chuckled. With parents and grandparents above her, loving children below her, and a man who cherished her like his own life, her rebirth was a blessing from heaven.
Ye Chenming took a long, refreshing shower, changed into clean clothes, and poured out his heart to Yan Xiaonan. After he finished speaking, Yan Xiaonan led him into the space.
As soon as they entered, they heard Yu Shu's sweet voice: "Daddy, did you come to see me?"
Ye Chenming blushed slightly. He would call every day to inquire about Yu Shu's condition, but today, he only remembered Yan Xiaonan and forgot about his beloved daughter.
"Yushu, my darling, tell me, how are you now? Can you see again?"
Ye Yushu smiled sweetly: "Dad, I can already see your shadow, a blurry shadow. Also, I've learned the Judge's Pen Technique."
"What 'Judge's Pen Technique'? Is it related to judges?" Ye Chenming grabbed Yan Xiaonan and stood in front of her, shielding her from view.
"Yu Shu, can the Judge's Pen hurt people?"
Ye Yushu didn't answer. Instead, a small, emerald-green calligraphy brush appeared in her hand. Before Ye Chenming could react, Yushu began to move.
Holding a gleaming white short stick in his left hand and a bright green calligraphy brush in his right, he leaned forward and backward, kicked left and right, sometimes leaping upwards and sometimes crouching down to stab.
A moment later, Ye Yushu's judge's pen pierced a large safe in the space, and the safe was pierced with a large hole, big enough for Yushu to crawl through.
Ever since Yu Shu learned that Judge's Pen technique, I always find things for Yu Shu to play with, from quilts to sandbags, from furniture to protective walls, nothing can withstand the Judge's Pen's casual touch.
Until they found a batch of safes, which could at least somewhat withstand the piercing of the judge's pen, but that was the hardest thing Yan Xiaonan could take out.
"Yu Shu, tell me, how did you learn this Judge's Pen technique?" Ye Chenming asked.
Yu Shu shook her head and said, "I don't know either, it just suddenly popped into my head."
"Dad, look! This is the Jade Dragon Entering the Sea, this is the Prodigal Son Kicking a Ball, this is the Swallow Carrying Mud, this is the Jade Maiden Weaving Through the Water, the Trapped Dragon Emerging from the Water, the Splitting Kick, the Judge Wielding His Pen, the Turning Back of the Horse, the Drunken Judge Playing with Bats, the Upside-Down Flower, the Spiritual Ape Flying Through the Mountain, the Agile Hawk Circling its Nest..."
Watching Yu Shu's every move, her movements were so fluid and beautiful that Ye Chenming's eyes narrowed. He had an urge to go down and fight his daughter, but Yan Xiaonan pulled him back.
"Is your body as sturdy as a safe? You still want to go and spar with your daughter? You're courting death."
Ye Chenming scratched his head, a little embarrassed. Yu Shu stopped, put the judge's pen back into the pen holder, and said with a coquettish smile, "Daddy, when my eyes can see clearly, I'll demonstrate with you."
Ye Chenming looked at the silvery-white stick: "Is this the copper stick from back then? How did it turn this color?"
Ye Yushu shook her head: "I don't know either. Anyway, both the pen and the pen holder suddenly changed color. I can't see it now. My mother told me that the pen was green and the pen holder was white."
"Hmm, it's very beautiful. You'll know when Yu Shu sees it. Does the Judge's Pen obey you now?" Ye Chenming felt extremely amazed.
"I think I heard it. I feel like I'm bound to it," Yu Shu said excitedly.
Yan Xiaonan sat or lay on the sofa, listening to the father and daughter's chattering conversation. She closed her eyes and, without realizing it, fell asleep to the sound of their familiar voices, even snoring.
"Yushu, let's be quiet and let Mom sleep well." Ye Chenming took a thin blanket and covered Yan Xiaonan with it. Although it was spring-like all year round in the space, it was always comfortable to be covered with a blanket.
Yu Shu nodded, tiptoed, and led Ye Chenming to the bedroom. She pointed to the bed, indicating that Ye Chenming should lie down on it.
The father and daughter were asleep in bed, unaware that the judge's pen in the pen holder was emitting tiny, firefly-like lights, all of which were directed towards Yu Shu's eyes.
Yan Xiaonan, who had slept soundly all night, finally woke up. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw breakfast on the table. Yu Shu had milk and bread, while she and Chen Ming had coffee and bread, along with a few fried eggs.
However, the fried egg looked really ugly, with the yolk and white stuck together. After tasting it, Yushu spat it out: "Dad, it's all salt, it's too salty."
Yan Xiaonan laughed: "Chenming, back when you were an educated youth, didn't you know how to roast pheasants? They tasted so good! How come you can't even fry an egg now?"
