Chapter 89 Leading Wild Boars Down the Mountain from Zhongnan

In the yard, Daqiang, Xiaoqiang, and the four directions of southeast and south were surrounding a wild boar. Xiaoqiang had also locked the yard gate tightly, leaving the wild boar nowhere to escape.

The wild boar charged at Xiaoqiang, who dodged it, but his shovel struck the boar in the lower back. The boar, in pain, roared and turned to run towards Zhongnan.

Zhongnan was already a fully grown wolf, but he was still no match for the wild boar in a one-on-one fight. Seeing the wild boar charging at him, he leaped onto its back and bit down on its neck, holding on tightly. Daqiang saw this and rushed over, smashing a club over the wild boar's head.

Southeast then slashed the wild boar's rump hard from behind with his machete. The boar, in pain, flipped over and pinned Zhongnan down. Zhongnan screamed as he was pinned down, and the boar's tusks bit down on him.

Southeast panicked and shouted for Zhongnan to rush over, but the distance was too far. At the critical moment, Yan Xiaonan moved his hand, and it seemed as if something was forcibly pushing the wild boar's head upward. With a crack, its neck broke.

Zhongnan felt the pressure on him suddenly decrease. He flipped over and turned the wild boar over. With a thud, the wild boar was turned over and fell to the ground. Yan Daqiang and Yan Xiaoqiang arrived at this time.

Yan Xiaoqiang shoveled the shovel into the wild boar's belly, and blood flowed out. The wild boar finally breathed its last.

Yan Xiaoqiang knew the wild boar had died, so he quickly found a large wooden basin. Together with Yan Daqiang, they put the boar inside, knowing that pig's blood was edible and shouldn't be wasted.

Zhongnan knew, of course, that Yan Xiaonan had saved him. He could feel Yan Xiaonan's breath breaking the wild boar's neck. He happily scrambled to his feet, ran to the gate, and barked wildly at it. Old Man Chen had never seen such a fierce dog before and didn't know whether to open the gate or not.

Then they heard Cuihua come out carrying Nannan: "Dad, open the door, everything's alright."

Old Master Chen believed his daughter's words and quickly opened the door to the main room, whereupon Zhongnan rushed in.

The wolf's eyes darted to Yan Xiaonan, and it pounced, biting Yan Xiaonan's trouser leg. Cuihua couldn't hold on and had to sit down.

Zhongnan's wolf head was finally able to touch Yan Xiaonan's hand, affectionately rubbing its head against Yan Xiaonan's hand.

Yan Xiaonan stroked Zhongnan's wolf head, still feeling lingering fear. It was she who had sent Zhongnan up the mountain to lure the wild boar down. If she had been a second slower, Zhongnan would have been dead. Her consciousness scanned Zhongnan's body; thankfully, he was unharmed.

Yan Xiaoqiang and Dongnan rushed in after Zhongnan. The wild boar's neck had suddenly broken. Although he later managed to fix it with a shovel, they knew it was Nannan who had done it. They wanted to see if Nannan was alright, but thankfully, Nannan was just playing with Zhongnan.

Grandma Yan glanced at Yan Xiaonan, patted her head, and thankfully she was alright. She gently slapped Xiaonan's little hand and said, "You're such a troublemaker. I won't bring you out anymore." Although she said that, she was secretly pleased, knowing that her in-laws would be eating plenty of meat these days.

Cuihua hugged Yan Xiaonan tightly. How could her daughter be so considerate? She must have seen how poor her grandparents' family was, so she sent Zhongnan to lure the wild boar there.

Yan Daqiang was a very meticulous person. At first, he thought that Zhongnan had overturned the wild boar, giving Yan Xiaoqiang an opportunity to take advantage of it. But upon closer inspection, he realized that the wild boar had died from a broken neck. How could Zhongnan, who was trapped under the wild boar, have broken its neck?

Later, seeing Zhongnan frantically trying to enter the main room, Xiaoqiang and Dongnan also rushed in nervously. Sensing something was wrong, they followed behind them.

When he saw Zhongnan being so affectionate with Nannan, and Dongnan and Xiaoqiang breathed a sigh of relief, he knew that this little girl was not simple. But he couldn't guess what was so special about her. He glanced at his mother and thought he would ask her later.

The wild boar lay quietly in the yard. The villagers outside had been startled out of their homes by the commotion, and even the village chief of Chenjia Village came to knock on the door.

Old Man Chen suddenly came to his senses, pulled Yan Daqiang up, and went to open the door. The village chief immediately noticed the soldier standing next to Old Man Chen and wondered why there was a soldier in the Chen family.

But now is not the time to ask. What exactly happened that caused such a big commotion at the Chen family?

Old Chen grinned from ear to ear, stepped aside, and pointed at the wild boar on the ground, saying, "Village chief, my son-in-law hunted a wild boar, so it made a bit of a commotion."

The village chief gasped. Such a large wild boar was hunted by the Chen family's son-in-law? Then who was this soldier?

Old Man Chen understood the village chief's confusion and automatically explained, "This is my son-in-law's older brother. He, my son-in-law, my nephew, and their wolfhound all killed the wild boar together."

Everyone understood. So there were soldiers present. No wonder they were able to kill a wild boar. Soldiers are indeed powerful. But the wild boar was hunted by the Chen family's son-in-law, so watching was pointless.

Old Man Chen, a shrewd man, coughed and said loudly, "Village Chief, how about we kill the wild boar and you distribute the entrails among the villagers?"

The village chief's eyes lit up. "Well done, Chen family!" he thought. He quickly sent someone to find a butcher to slaughter the pig. Yan Daqiang took the opportunity to invite the village chief to his family for tea. "Such a big wild boar, the village chief should definitely give us some."

Upon hearing that they could share the meat, the villagers spread the word excitedly. They did the same thing as Village Chief Ma: each household brought some wild vegetables and potatoes, and they stewed it all together so everyone could taste the meat.

The village chief was invited in for tea by a soldier, and he was immediately moved by the immense honor. He strode in and greeted Cuihua with a smile.

"Cuihua, you're going back to your parents' home today. You're so lucky to have married into such a good family."

Cuihua quickly stood up: "Happy New Year, Village Chief! This is my mother-in-law, and this is my uncle."

The village chief quickly greeted Grandma Yan: "Hello, old sister-in-law! These must be your sons and grandsons. They're so handsome and good-looking! Oh my, this one is a lucky baby from a New Year's painting! You're so blessed, old sister-in-law!"

Hearing the village chief's eloquence, Grandma Yan smiled and said, "The village chief is truly blessed; a wild boar has come to his door on our first meeting."

Everyone burst into laughter. Old Man Chen spoke up, "Qiangzi, you were the ones who hunted this wild boar. What are you planning to do with it?"

Yan Xiaoqiang was quite clever; of course he understood what his father-in-law meant, and quickly said, "Dad, I'll take half, and you can decide what to do with the other half."

The village chief's eyes lit up even more as he looked at Old Man Chen and said, "Old Man Chen, this wild boar must weigh at least 300 jin (150 kg). Why don't you sell it to the village for 50 jin?"
