Chapter 392 Moving Things

The nanny knocked on the door, startling Gu Yong, who had just drifted off to sleep. He opened his bloodshot eyes and, full of irritation, pushed away Fang Dani's hand that was massaging him: "Go open the door—"

Fang Dani jumped out of bed and opened the door. She was stunned when she heard what the nanny said.

She wanted to turn back and ask Gu Yong, but seeing his impatient look, she gritted her teeth and said in a low voice, "Then let's not cook breakfast. Let's go to the cafeteria and buy some food to take home! Hurry up, the kids will be getting up soon!"

The nanny hesitated for a moment, then said, "Da Ni, you need tickets and money to go to the cafeteria—"

Fang Dani hurried back to her room, fiddled around for a while, took out five yuan and some bills, and gave them to the nanny.

The nanny clutched the ticket and searched the kitchen for a long time before finally finding a bamboo basket that Fang Dani had brought back with her when they went grocery shopping. She picked it up and went out.

When she returned after buying breakfast for the family, she found a large truck parked at the gate of the yard. The gate was wide open, and several soldiers in olive green uniforms were jumping off the truck and walking inside.

The nanny's heart tightened, and she quickened her pace to enter the house.

Gu Zhiyuan and Xu Ningyan were sitting on the sofa in the living room.

Gu Dajun and his group sat huddled around the dining table, glaring angrily at Gu Zhiyuan and his group.

Gu Zhixing was directing people to move things, his voice particularly loud: "Anything with a note that says 'Jiang' on it, load it onto the truck. Move the things on the first floor first, then go up to the third floor, there are still some things there."

Although the soldiers were puzzled, they had been instructed by the logistics department leaders to do more and talk less before they came, so they didn't think too much about it, agreed, and buried themselves in carrying things.

Gu Yong managed to doze off for a while, but he couldn't sleep soundly.

The noise from moving things outside had already woken him up.

Turning his head, he saw Fang Dani standing to the side and asked impatiently, "Why is it so noisy outside?"

Fang Dani said cautiously, "It was the Zhiyuan brothers who called people and trucks from the logistics department; they're moving things!"

Gu Yongqi was furious. He had only signed the divorce and separation agreement, and he hadn't even gone through the divorce proceedings with Jiang Yuan yet. Why were they in such a hurry?

Fueled by this momentum, Gu Yong rolled out of bed, opened the door, and came out.

The soldier directly in front of them, carrying two small cabinets and other items, quickly stood at attention and said, "Greetings, Commander!"

Gu Yong nodded haphazardly and waved for them to leave.

Walking into the living room, I saw Gu Zhiyuan sitting there talking to Xu Ningyan, making Xu Ningyan cover her mouth and laugh. Their youngest son, Gu Zhixing, was watching people move things.

The eldest and second eldest children, along with their parents, were all crammed around the dining table, looking particularly pitiful.

Taking a deep breath, Gu Yong walked over to Gu Zhiyuan, frowned, and whispered, "Does it really have to be this heartless?"

Gu Zhiyuan didn't speak, but turned to look at Gu Zhixing: "Go upstairs and call Mom down. Take care of things while there aren't many people around this morning!"

They completely disregarded courage.

Jiang Yuan came down quickly; she had cried and had recovered somewhat.

Apart from her eyes being a little red and swollen, there was nothing else wrong.

Her hair was neatly combed, and she was dressed as usual, looking clean and presentable.

Seeing the mess in the living room, she acted as if she had seen it too, and said directly to Gu Yong, "Alright, everything's ready here, let's go!"

Gu Yong opened his mouth, but before he could speak, Jiang Yuan spoke up again: "I've already called the hospital to ask for leave, and I've also called Commander Yang and Political Commissar Qin. They'll be waiting for us in their office."

Gu Yong looked at Jiang Yuan in surprise, seemingly not expecting her to be so decisive, giving him no chance to back out or delay.

After a moment of silence, Gu Yong nodded: "Let's go!"

After instructing Gu Zhiyuan and Gu Zhixing to take all their belongings away, they were not to come back. They were to wait for her call if anything came up. Jiang Yuan then hurriedly followed Gu Yong out the door.

Xu Ningyan watched Jiang Yuan's retreating figure and couldn't help but feel a little worried: "I heard that military marriages aren't easy to get divorced, especially for people of their status. Won't it be difficult?"

Gu Zhiyuan wasn't worried: "If Mom really wants a divorce, then the divorce will definitely happen! Don't worry about it. Leave things here to Zhixing. I'll take you home first. You haven't slept all night, so go home and get a good night's sleep."

After saying that, he walked over, whispered a few words to Gu Zhixing, and told Xu Ningyan to follow him out of the Gu family's courtyard. He then got on his bicycle and gestured for Xu Ningyan to get on.

Xu Ningyan was indeed exhausted. After a whole night of commotion, the dust had finally settled, and her nerves, which had been excited all night, finally relaxed. She yawned one after another, and her eyes were almost too heavy to keep open.

Unfortunately, he hadn't ridden his bike far when he ran into an acquaintance from the compound, who stopped him: "Zhiyuan, what happened at your house yesterday? It sounded like there was a commotion all night! Is it because your dad doesn't approve of your marriage to your boyfriend and they're making a scene? Or is there some other reason?"

As soon as one person spoke, more acquaintances gathered around, asking questions all at once.

"Yeah, why did the logistics department send a car to your door so early in the morning? And we even saw them moving things out of your house? Did you split up?"

"It's not that your parents don't approve of your marriage to your partner, so you're making a scene and demanding a separation from the family, moving all your belongings out, is it?"

“Zhiyuan, you’ve been raised by your aunties, listen to our advice! Don’t go against your dad! You’ve been away from home all these years, and your brother is still young. How can they compare to those two who know how to coax your dad? If you really upset your dad, wouldn’t that be playing right into their hands?”

"That's right! It's not just you who has to leave! It's those who are married and have children who have to leave! Where do you see unmarried sons being kicked out while married ones stubbornly stay at home!"

“Zhiyuan, I know you young people are hot-blooded and can’t stand being wronged! But you have to think about your mother and your brother. What will happen to them if you leave? Won’t your family fall into the hands of those people? Wouldn’t that be a waste of their money?”

"Shh, go back and apologize to your dad, and try to appease him!"

...

Although these aunties were talkative and some of their words were not pleasant to hear, it was clear that they were all well-intentioned and favored Jiang Yuan and Gu Zhiyuan and their two children.

It makes sense, considering that many of the people in this compound went to the battlefield with Gu Yong and Jiang Yuan. After things settled down, they've been neighbors in the compound for many years.

Jiang Yuan is gentle and kind, and her medical skills are renowned far and wide.

If anyone in the compound has a headache or fever, or needs help, just give them a call, and Jiang Yuan will help in any way she can.

Moreover, women are more understanding and empathetic towards each other. Who wouldn't feel uncomfortable about Gu Yong bringing his parents back, his ex-wife, and her two sons living in his home?

Even those who were jealous of Jiang Yuan before, when they saw that Gu Yong's ex-wife had been living in the Gu family for more than ten years, they felt sorry for Jiang Yuan, though they didn't say it to her face.

Of course, there were also people who didn't get along with Gu Yong and wanted to see the Gu family make a fool of themselves. They deliberately said things that hurt Gu Zhiyuan's feelings and wished that Gu Zhiyuan would live in the compound and quarrel with Gu Yong every few days. That would be more interesting.

Gu Zhiyuan had no interest in paying attention to these people. Whether they meant well or harbored malice, it was no longer his concern.
