Qiao Wanyue turned her head and saw an elderly man with white hair steadily supporting her back. He seemed to have arrived in a hurry, leaving his cane at the door, and his legs were trembling.
Qiao Wanyue saw that the person who saved her was an elderly man over fifty years old. She put her hand on the stone pillar to steady herself before thanking the old man, "Thank you, sir."
"Are you alright?" The old man looked her up and down to make sure she was okay.
Qiao Wanyue walked to the door, picked up his cane, and handed it to the old man.
The old man stroked his beard with satisfaction.
He said sternly, "Wen Bing, what are you doing now?"
Wen Bing was crying in her mother's arms when she suddenly heard a familiar voice, and goosebumps instantly rose on her back.
"Grandpa, I'm hurt." Wen Bing pouted.
grandfather?
Qiao Wanyue took a few steps back, keeping her distance from Wen Bing.
His eyes were full of vigilance.
The old man had worked his whole life; how could he not see that this young girl was wary of Wen Bing calling him "Grandpa"? And then he remembered what had happened at the door and what his wife had said.
He looked at his daughter-in-law with displeasure, "Liang Yu, you've made things difficult for the young girl."
Liang Yu was completely confused.
Qiao Wanyue was also in a wait-and-see state. The old man in front of her had a full head of white hair, was in good spirits, and looked very kind, but she was afraid that she could know a person's face but not their heart.
"Dad, this is my distant niece."
The old man scoffed, "Niece, you let people search you at the gate? And then you let them walk in? Liang Yu, you have quite the airs of an official."
Liang Yu was startled.
How did the old man know?
You see, what the old man hates most is someone acting as an accomplice to evil. If he knew what Wen Bing had done, he would beat Wen Bing to death without even needing anyone from the military.
The old man is a veteran. As for how old he is, he participated in the uprising army and experienced the most difficult years. He fought alongside his son, and when he was young, he was the only one who could be trusted in the army. But as he got older, his health deteriorated, and he suffered from heart disease several times. He was finally forced to retire by his wife.
"Girl, I apologize to you on their behalf." The old man clasped his hands in a fist salute to Qiao Wanyue.
Qiao Wanyue looked at the kind-looking old man in front of her, and her heart softened. "It's nothing, it has nothing to do with you."
Qiao Wanyue turned and left.
She already knew Liang Yu's attitude.
There's no need to stay any longer.
As Qiao Wanyue left the military compound, she vaguely remembered that Mu Fan had said the scapegoat had been arrested. She headed towards the military area, and the people at the gate recognized her and asked who she was looking for.
Interrogation Room
Wei Jun stood beside Qiao Wanyue and asked, "Sister-in-law, are you sure you want to see Liang Kun?"
Qiao Wanyue nodded. "He is innocent."
A thin, lame man was brought out.
Today, Liang Kun was to be sent to a farm in Northeast China for reform through labor. His hair had been shaved off, and he was dressed in military green long sleeves. He limped toward them.
"You're Liang Kun?"
A hint of confusion flashed in Liang Kun's eyes. "Who are you?"
Qiao Wanyue laughed, "You hired someone to insult me, don't you know who I am?"
Liang Kun's pupils widened.
"Qiao Wanyue".
Qiao Wanyue nodded. "You want to get revenge on Yunzhou?"
A flicker of pain flashed in Liang Kun's eyes, but it vanished in an instant. A ferocious look rose on his face. "Why is Lu Yunzhou a hero, while I am ridiculed by everyone? So what if he is dead? I will make people despise him, and I will make you pay with your life."
He struggled to lunge at her, his eyes like knives, wanting to kill Qiao Wanyue.
Wei soldiers stood in front of Qiao Wanyue.
