Chapter 16 Selling Jobs (2/2)

Qiao Shanshan is here to replace her as a factory worker.

Qiao Wanyue smiled slightly.

Wanting everything will only harm you.

Zhou Wenwen squatted at the entrance of the textile factory, while Qiao Wanyue went around to another entrance. The factory buildings and the staff quarters were connected, so she went in through the back door. As soon as she entered, she saw a little kid playing with pebbles on the ground.

"Sister Wanyue." Upon seeing the person who arrived, the little devil ran over excitedly and hugged her leg.

Qiao Wanyue patted her head and took out a few candies she had bought from her pocket. "Is your mother home?"

"Yes, I'll take you to find your mother."

The little devil's name was Zhou Ranran, the son of the textile factory director and the grain bureau secretary.

His only son.

Qiao Wanyue saved Zhou Ranran by chance.

Zhou Ranran pulled Qiao Wanyue upstairs. They stopped at a tenement building at the entrance of the stairwell after making three turns. She knocked on the door with her little hand and said, "Mom, look who's here."

Wang Qi didn't go to work today. When he opened the door, he saw Qiao Wanyue.

"Wanyue, what brings you here?" Wang Qi looked at her in surprise, not noticing the person behind her, and raised an eyebrow.

"Mom, let my sister go in first."

Zhou Ranran pushed her mother aside and dragged Qiao Wanyue inside.

Wang Qi then noticed that Qiao Wanyue was carrying fruit.

The apples were big and juicy; their family was already quite well-off, but fruit of this quality was still rare.

She immediately realized that Qiao Wanyue needed her help.

"Ranran, could you go borrow a stool from the old lady next door?"

Okay.

The little guy walked away on his short legs.

Wang Qi: "Wanyue, is there something you need from your aunt?"

Qiao Wanyue didn't mince words and directly stated her purpose for coming.

Wang Qi listened to her recount what had recently happened.

"This is outrageous!"

Wang Qi slammed her hand on the table. "Then why are you selling your job? Even if you marry a military officer, as long as you have connections at the textile factory, you can transfer there. If you sell it, you'll have no job."

“Wanyue, listen to your aunt. A woman needs to have a job, no matter how much money she earns. That’s how you make a living.”

Wang Qi disagreed with Qiao Wanyue selling her job.

Qiao Wanyue grasped Wang Qi's hand, knowing she was acting in her best interest, and explained, "Auntie, I know you mean well, but the Qiao family is eyeing us covetously, and my household registration hasn't been transferred yet."

They can be replaced anytime; I might as well just sell them and get the money myself.

She makes a good point.

Seeing that she understood the pros and cons, Wang Qi stopped arguing and went out to find someone. The current permanent positions are the hardest to come by. Qiao Wanyue got her spot through her own exam, but without inside information, she has no chance.

Wang Qi was very happy that she came to see him.

This is equivalent to doing her a favor.

Wang Qi went to the house across the street, familiar with the place, and soon returned with a man and a woman.

"Wanyue, these are your Uncle Li and Aunt Li."

"This is Wanyue," Wang Qi introduced her.

Wang Qi patiently explained, "Aunt Li's daughter is graduating from high school this year. We were supposed to arrange a temporary job for her, but it fell through due to internal reasons. If you're willing, you can sell the job to Aunt Li."

“They will absolutely not let your sister do anything reckless,” Wang Qi whispered in Qiao Wanyue’s ear.
