Qiao Wanyue didn't even look at her, but she almost knew what she wanted to say.
Lu Rong looked like a wronged little wife again.
Without a doubt, she was being asked to go back and see Qiao Sheng.
"Wanyue, I'll go back with you tomorrow. We can't let those people talk behind your back," Lu Rong said with a bitter face.
Qiao Wanyue sat on the bed, leaning against the headboard, resting her chin on her hand as she looked at Lu Rong, her tone helpless, "Mom, didn't you ever think that the Qiao family would deceive me into going back, and that I wouldn't be able to come back?"
Lu Rong was very naive, "I'll go with you."
Qiao Wanyue pointed to the foot of the bed, gesturing for her to sit down.
Lu Rong rubbed the corner of his clothes. "Mom thinks that he is still your father. Even if the relationship is severed, a dying man's words are kind. Even if he just goes to see him one last time, he can fulfill his filial duty in the end."
If anyone else had said those words, Qiao Wanyue would have kicked them out long ago.
But it was Lu Rong.
She doesn't have any bad intentions.
Just stupid.
Qiao Wanyue sighed and interrupted Lu Rong's incessant chatter, "What did someone say to you this afternoon?"
Lu Rong paused, his hand rubbing the hem of his clothes.
Chen Surong and the other aunts who had been dismissed by Wanyue spoke ill of Wanyue in front of her.
But she didn't listen and even chased the person away.
"Chen Surong and the aunt you fired were talking badly about you, so I chased them away. I didn't hear what they said, but they were right about one thing: you're a communications officer now, and if you don't go back to see them, even if you've severed ties with your family, you'll still be talked about behind your back in the future."
"Mom, come out here, I can't find my shoes!" Lu Yunqi shouted loudly from outside the door.
Lu Rong muttered to himself.
If you can't find your shoes, go find your wife, why would you go find your mother?
But she still replied that she would be out soon.
"Mom will go back with you tomorrow. We'll just take a look and come right back," Lu Rong said, still unwilling to give up.
Qiao Wanyue pressed her temples. "No need, I'll go back myself."
Lu Rong breathed a sigh of relief.
She turned and left the house, yelling at Old Master Lu, "What are you shouting for? Are you trying to kill me?"
Lu Laoda rolled his eyes at her. "Don't meddle in Wanyue's affairs. Don't think I don't know those aunties are gossiping about you. If you dare to say anything, I'll kick you out and let you live with Yang Lin."
Lu Rong was stunned.
The eldest brother had never said anything so serious to her before.
Her eyes involuntarily reddened.
"Boss, are you threatening me?"
She was a mother after all, and deep down she still believed that her son was inferior to her.
She didn't want her boss to talk to her like that.
Boss Lu sneered, "I'm not only threatening you, I'm also afraid you'll harm me."
"Wanyue is my sister, my own sister. If you say anything you shouldn't, don't blame me for being heartless." Lu Yunqi knew what kind of person his own mother was, and that a dying person's words were always kind.
Qiao Sheng is a complete scoundrel.
He was clearly plotting against Wanyue.
She even urged Wanyue to go over. Wanyue had never experienced her own mother's affection since she was a child, but she had felt some affection from her mother-in-law. What if she listened to her mother-in-law and something happened at the Qiao family?
How can he face his deceased brother then!
Lu Yunqi would not allow this to happen.
Tears streamed down Lu Rong's face as she looked at her own son with red eyes, unable to understand how he could imagine his own mother to such an extent.
How could she possibly harm her own family?
What Lu Yunqi hated most was Lu Rong doing something hurtful and then looking at him with wide, innocent eyes.
It's infuriating.
