Deep winter, heavy snow
At dawn, Qiao Wanyue pushed open the wooden window, and the entire view was covered by a blanket of white snow.
Lu Hui, wearing a thick cotton coat, rolled around in the snow, his feet sinking deep into the snow. He played in the snow, sometimes sinking deep and sometimes shallow, while Lu Yunqi behind him carried a shovel and swept the snow in the yard.
Hearing the noise, Lu Hui turned around and saw his second aunt leaning against the window. "Second aunt, it's snowing! Come out quickly, let's build a snowman together."
The little guy is very energetic and doesn't feel cold at all.
Qiao Wanyue replied that she would be right there.
She threw off the covers. Although there was a coal stove burning in the room, she could still feel the cold air as she left the covers. She shivered, put on her cotton-padded jacket and newly made cotton-padded trousers, and then put on a knitted hat and scarf before coming out of the room.
They ran into Lu Rong.
She had just gotten up, still holding a glass of warm water, intending to wash her face, when she saw Qiao Wanyue and felt a moment of embarrassment. The eldest daughter-in-law had already told her what had happened in the Qiao family.
When she heard it, she felt as if she had entered an ice cave.
Qiao Sheng feigned illness to trick Wan Yue into returning home, intending to send her to Gao Yan's bed in exchange for his own benefit.
In that instant, her mind exploded.
She couldn't understand why parents could be so vicious.
At the same time, she felt a sense of dread, wondering why she had advised Qiao Wanyue to go back in the first place.
In an instant, a mix of emotions welled up inside me and filled my entire body.
When Qiao Wanyue returned from the Qiao family, she was filled with anxiety, fearing that Qiao Wanyue would point her finger at her and scold her like Lu Xingxing had done. But she waited for a long time, and no one came to complain about her.
Qiao Wanyue remained amiable.
The eldest son and his wife never said anything harsh to her.
She felt increasingly guilty.
She dared not meet Qiao Wanyue's eyes.
"Slow down." Lu Rong's hand trembled, and the water he was holding sloshed around.
Qiao Wanyue reached out and took the warm water, then reached out to help Lu Rong, who had tripped and fallen.
Lu Rong looked up and met his daughter-in-law's eyes. "Wanyue, do you resent me?"
Qiao Wanyue knew what she was referring to and smiled, "I don't resent it."
Lu Rong breathed a sigh of relief.
She was afraid that Qiao Wanyue would harbor resentment. Her son was already gone, and if a rift developed between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, life would be even more difficult in the future.
Qiao Wanyue continued, "Mom, I don't blame you because you can't control me or change my mind. In other words, with you, I have another mother; without you, I won't lose anything, and it won't affect me much."
Lu Rong's face turned pale instantly.
What's the meaning.
Qiao Wanyue slowly said, "My situation is different from Xingxing's. She saw you as her only hope. You were once everything to her. You personally pushed her into the abyss, so she hates you."
“We are mother and daughter who were adopted by another family; there is still a blood relation between us.”
“You know this in your heart, so you’re worried that I’ll resent you because of something you said, which will create a rift between us. You won’t apologize to Xingxing; you think it’s all perfectly normal.”
"Are you helping Lu Xingxing to criticize me?" Lu Rong's expression was not good.
She was unwilling to face reality.
Qiao Wanyue put down the basin of warm water, reached out and hugged Lu Rong, and smiled, "I'm not blaming you, I just want to tell you that I don't blame you, and I also hope that you can be more at ease. Xingxing is doing well."
Lu Rong's vision blurred at some point.
She turned and went into the room.
Qiao Wanyue did not follow to offer comfort.
