Chapter 354 Night Talk (2/2)

He grabbed Zhong Qingqing's hair and started tearing at it.

The two started fighting.

"Brother Yunzhou is as fierce as ever." Yang Ercui shook her head. He really was a man who could kill not only the man but also the man's spirit.

Qiao Wanyue, "What was he like before?"

Yang Ercui felt a chill run down her spine when she thought about the past. "Whenever he bullied us, he wouldn't say anything to our faces, but he would definitely come back at night. Our woodpile caught fire many times."

Qiao Wanyue looked at that straight back, her eyes full of smiles.

When Lu Yunzhou turned around, he saw Qiao Wanyue looking at him with a smile in her eyes.

"What's wrong?"

She shook her head. "It's nothing."

Lu Yunzhou walked over and instinctively wanted to take her hand, but then he remembered something and withdrew his hand. "Let's go, it's late, let's go home and sleep."

Qiao Wanyue didn't notice his subtle movement and nodded, "Mm."

The two remained silent as they walked.

After returning home, Lu Rong sat in the main room, staring wide-eyed at Lu Yunzhou.

Lu Yunzhou didn't even glance at her.

Lu Yunqi returned through the back door, his feet covered in mud.

Seeing Lu Yunzhou breathe a sigh of relief, he said, "It's getting late, let's go to sleep." He walked over and patted his younger brother on the shoulder.

Lu Yunzhou nodded. "Mm."

Inside the room, Lu Yunzhou filled three hot water bottles and stuffed them into Qiao Wanyue's bed before going to wash up. When Qiao Wanyue returned from washing up and was about to take off her coat and get into bed, Lu Yunzhou brought in a basin of hot water.

"Soak your feet."

Qiao Wanyue was somewhat surprised.

She was about to take off her shoes and socks, but Lu Yunzhou was a step ahead of her, squatting down in front of her and dragging her wet shoes. Only then did she realize that her shoes and socks had gotten wet without her noticing.

He squatted down, carefully took off her shoes, and gently placed her feet into the basin.

Warm water enveloped her feet; the water temperature was just right.

Lu Yunzhou wasn't idle either. He took the socks out and came back with clean socks in his hands. He spread the socks out on the chair next to the stove and placed the shoes upside down around the stove.

"Will the Li family report you?" Qiao Wanyue asked, recalling what happened tonight.

Lu Yunzhou shook his head, "No."

He looked up at Qiao Wanyue, knowing she was worried, and his heart softened. "You are my family. If I'm afraid of being reported and don't stand up, what's the point of me coming back? Don't worry about me, they can't cause any trouble."

Qiao Wanyue nodded.

I casually started chatting with her about things at my factory.

She's been taking things out these past few days. Although there wasn't much to do before, she found that there were many small things to handle personally when she was finally cleaning up. She didn't know when the handover would be completed.

Lu Yunzhou also brought a basin of water and listened to her talk while rubbing her feet.

Occasionally, they would chime in with a comment, offering constructive suggestions.

Lu Yunzhou also started talking, recounting interesting stories from his time in the military.

Qiao Wanyue was so engrossed in listening that she didn't even notice the water getting cold.

Lu Yunzhou poured out the water and wiped his feet clean.

Qiao Wanyue was about to pour water when Lu Yunzhou grabbed a towel to wipe her feet before pouring the water.

She wasn't an ignorant girl; Lu Yunzhou's actions were definitely not impulsive. But she didn't intend to become a nun either. She thought she should let things take their natural course, let things fall into place naturally, and once the feelings were there, everything would be fine.

As she lay down, Lu Yunzhou turned off the light and lay down beside her.

The two were covered by separate blankets. Her hands were tucked under the covers. For some reason, Qiao Wanyue wasn't sleepy today. Compared to the past few days when she would fall asleep as soon as she touched the bed, today her eyes were wide open the longer she lay there.

She tossed and turned, unable to sleep, until finally the top blanket rolled off onto the floor.

Can't sleep?

Qiao Wanyue assumed he was asleep from his breathing, but a sudden remark made her spine stiffen.

"Um."

He reached out and picked up the blanket from the floor, covering them both. He turned to look at her, the moonlight streaming through the window onto the bed, bathing his face in its glow, his eyes filled with tenderness.

He propped his head up with one hand and looked into her eyes. "Let's chat for a bit."
