Chapter 376 The Fierce Old Woman (1/2)

The people around looked at the old woman with hostility, and their attitude towards her daughter-in-law was too fierce.

Qiao Wanyue could tell that the old woman was straightforward, while her daughter-in-law was probably timid. The two of them didn't know how to get along. The old woman disliked her daughter-in-law for being timid, and the daughter-in-law thought that the old woman didn't like her.

"Auntie, could you check if my daughter is frightened?" Qiao Wanyue pointed to Panpan in Lu Xingxing's arms.

The old lady walked over casually, touched Panpan's head with her finger, and said nonchalantly, "This child is fine, she's very strong-willed. It's good that she's growing up; she'll definitely amount to something in the future."

No one dislikes others praising their child.

Qiao Wanyue took another pear and handed it to the old lady.

The old lady said, "That's not right, I've already accepted your apples." She had seen other people buy those apples before, they cost several cents each, and she couldn't bear to buy such good things, but if they insisted on giving them to her, then she wouldn't refuse.

Qiao Wanyue smiled and placed it in her hand, saying, "Thank you."

The old lady happily took it back and wanted to break the pear open, but when she was halfway through, she remembered that breaking a pear was unlucky. She looked at her daughter-in-law and then at her grandson, stuffed the whole pear into her daughter-in-law's hand, and snatched the half-eaten apple from her.

He stuffed it into his mouth.

"I ate." Perhaps because he was in a bad mood, his tone was much better.

The woman was flattered.

Biting her lip, she looked at the juicy pear and swallowed hard.

"Keep it for the child."

"Just eat it when I give it to you. Why all the nonsense? What, my son can't even afford to let his grandson eat a pear?"

She was about to say no.

The old woman snorted and turned to talk to the person next door.

She gave a wry smile.

Her mother-in-law had never liked her, and whether it was out of spite or because the pear was too delicious, she finished it off in a few bites. Her eyes were blurry, her eyelids were very heavy, and she fell into a deep sleep.

The old woman picked up her grandson and took a piece of clothing to cover her daughter-in-law.

"Auntie, you're so good to your daughter-in-law." Aunt Lu had slept enough and decided to chat.

The old woman snorted disdainfully, "What's the use if people don't appreciate it?"

Lu Xingxing stuck out her tongue. "You're so fierce, and the other person isn't very brave. It would be strange if they appreciated it."

But Lu Xingxing wouldn't interfere in other people's business.

The old lady couldn't keep a secret; she confessed everything in just a few words.

She was a widow who raised her son alone. When he was eighteen, she sent him to the army. Her son lived up to her expectations and recently made a contribution in the army, which allowed his mother to come with him.

She was happily preparing to go with the army, but that ingrate actually wanted to marry the leader's son, and that his mother wouldn't be there to enjoy a life of luxury, but to serve that young lady.

The old lady couldn't stand it.

Although she didn't like her daughter-in-law's personality, she had arranged for her son to marry her when he was in the army, so that the family could have a male heir. Although there was no affection between them, the daughter-in-law had at least given her a grandson.

She cannot do anything that would harm her reputation.

He decided to go all out and brought his daughter-in-law and grandson to join the army.

She refused to believe that the ungrateful wretch, with his wife and son in tow, would marry the leader's daughter.

Even if I were to marry her, she could still ruin everything.
