"I've come to see Chief Wen. This is my wife, Qiao Wanyue," Lu Yunzhou introduced.
Looking at the kind-faced young girl, Grandma Wen's gaze softened. "His condition has improved recently. The doctor said the chances of him waking up are very low, almost impossible. You can go in and take a look, but don't come back again."
She knew that Lu Yunzhou and Wen Bing had nothing going on. Wen Bing was hopelessly in love and had ruined her whole family. She didn't blame anyone, but she was an old woman with only a few days left to live. She just hoped that her son wouldn't die in front of her.
She couldn't be rude to the kind people working for her son, but she also couldn't control her mentally ill granddaughter. She could only try to minimize contact with the couple and protect herself.
Lu Yunzhou didn't say anything.
He knew the old lady's worries.
However, he disagreed, arguing that it wasn't his problem, as Wen Bing was the one causing trouble, and he was the victim.
"Let's go in first," Lu Yunzhou said softly, bowing his head.
Qiao Wanyue went in side by side with him.
As Grandma Wen watched the two figures walk away, she couldn't help but sigh, "They are quite a perfect couple."
The guards were members of the Wen family, and they helped the old lady sit down.
"Didn't you say you wouldn't allow anyone to come in?"
Grandma Wen looked at the enormous figure with gentle eyes.
She didn't actually say that she had heard the old man say that Lu Yunzhou was on the verge of death when Mu Fan gave him something to drink. At that time, even the doctors said that he couldn't be saved, although they later told the public that it was a miracle.
But there are no miracles to be found; Lu Yunzhou has a secret.
She didn't care what the secret was; as long as Lu Yunzhou could help her son, she was willing to give her life for him, even if it meant sacrificing her own.
"Close the door. No one is allowed near the door until Lu Yunzhou comes out."
The guard replied, "Yes."
Grandma Wen stood guard at the door.
"The old lady has her suspicions," Qiao Wanyue whispered.
Her reaction was too calm, as if she knew Lu Yunzhou would come. When she saw Lu Yunzhou, her gaze did not waver at all, and there seemed to be a hint of relief that she was waiting for him.
"Chief Wen saved me; he is my benefactor. He knows that I was saved, and Grandma Wen has guessed something. She knows I won't stand idly by and watch the chief die."
Rather than saying she was waiting, it would be more accurate to say she was gambling.
I bet Lu Yunzhou won't stand idly by.
"The old lady is a reasonable person; all she wants is for her son to live."
Wen Gaohan lay on the bed, his face pale, his arms atrophied, and he was extremely thin. He was malnourished and could only be fed a little food through nutritional supplements and a feeding tube.
Qiao Wanyue stood by the bed. She didn't have many opportunities to meet Wen Gaohan. When they first met, she felt that he was a kind and fair person, even though he didn't know at the time that Wen Bing was not his daughter.
There was not the slightest bias.
Lu Yunzhou opened the kettle lid, poured the water into a regular cup, and found a syringe on the bedside table. Wen Gaohan couldn't eat anything, so he took the syringe, drew some water into it, and poured it into his mouth.
The spring water is undiluted and has a sweet taste. A small drop has a noticeable effect. When the syringe is inserted into the mouth, most of it flows down the neck. The areas where the water droplets have passed instantly become much whiter.
A look of amazement flashed in Lu Yunzhou's eyes.
Even knowing its effects, seeing it in person was still amazing.
After half a syringe of water had gone down his throat, Lu Yunzhou wanted to continue giving him more, but Qiao Wanyue stopped him.
"His body is too weak right now, it's not good for him to drink too much." She took a tissue and wiped all the water off his neck, then took a basin, wrung out a towel, and casually added some spiritual spring water to wipe his body.
Lu Yunzhou placed the syringe on the table and was about to say, "I'll do it."
