Chapter 411 Qiu Yulan's Dramatic Changes (1/2)

"Sister Yulan?"

Qiu Yulan's hair was permed into small curls, and she wore lipstick. Although she was still a little reserved, she had a faint smile on her lips and looked at her gently, radiating maternal warmth.

Her gaze had become much more determined; the change was so great that Qiao Wanyue almost didn't recognize her.

Qiu Yulan touched her head shyly and smiled bashfully. "My colleague got her hair permed, and I thought it looked pretty, so I cut my hair too. Does it look good?" She asked nervously.

Qiao Wanyue sincerely praised, "You look so good! And the clothes you're wearing today match your makeup perfectly. Even your lipstick is beautiful. Did you buy it yourself?"

Qiu Yulan shook her head. "My mom bought them. She said I don't dress up every day and look like an old woman, so she bought me a lot of clothes and lipsticks." She smiled shyly, her face full of happiness.

"Your mother has such good taste! This lipstick, and your clothes and hair today, they all look so good. Where did you get your hair permed? I want to get mine done too." Cui Qian spoke quickly and had already reached out to touch Qiu Yulan's hair.

Qiu Yulan was flattered. She thought the people in the family compound would say she was dressing up haphazardly, but everyone she met sincerely praised her for looking good, without any malice in their eyes.

She breathed a sigh of relief.

"I'm off tomorrow, I can take you there." Qiu Yulan was afraid that it would be rash to suggest this to someone she didn't know.

Cui Qian excitedly replied, "That's great! My name is Cui Qian, and I live next door to Wan Yue. Just come to my house and call me when you're free tomorrow. My child is quite young, and I don't have anyone to help me at home, so I haven't gone to work."

Qiu Yulan nodded, "My name is Qiu Yulan, I am Xie Yiran..." Suddenly remembering that Xie Yiran forbade her to say that she was his wife in public, she changed her words to "Xie Yiran's younger sister".

Cui Qian scratched her head, "You're Xie Yiran's country wife, aren't you? They say Xie Yiran's wife is very unsophisticated, and you're not..."

Cui Qian's arm was nudged, but she didn't realize it until later.

She chuckled sheepishly, "Sorry, sis, I just can't control my mouth."

Xie Yiran's story is nothing new in the entire family compound; in fact, it happens frequently. After people have seen and experienced the world, they tend to look down on the path they came from.

A couple should be evenly matched for them to have a good life. Xie Yiran has seen so much prosperity, and for him to go back to see his wife who had shared his hardships would be another kind of torture for him.

This doesn't mean Xie Yiran was wrong; it just means he couldn't keep his heart. There are plenty of people in the family compound who are doing well with their original spouses; it's all a matter of personal choice.

But Qiu Yulan's change was something she hadn't expected.

"I thought you would..." After all, Xie Yiran's desire to marry Su Wenxia was obvious. Qiu Yulan could insist on the marriage, but Xie Yiran's future would be ruined.

If they part amicably, Xie Yiran will remarry, and Qiu Yulan will have to return to her hometown.

This is also unfair to Qiu Yulan.

Qiu Yulan looked up and smiled, "Did you think I would cry at home?"

"I really don't know what to do. All I can do is cry, but my mom says I can't cry because she thinks I'm bad luck. She says she'll beat me if I cry, so I stop crying for fear of being beaten. I do whatever she tells me to do."

"My mom makes me work, and she lets me go shopping with my colleagues, buy nice clothes, and put on nice makeup. I couldn't do it well at first, but my mom did it for me in no time. She even did my makeup today." She said with a hint of pride.

Qiu Yulan remembered, "Your mother came too? Didn't you say your mother-in-law came with you?" She was a little envious. Although Qiu Yulan was unlucky and met a heartless man, her mother was really good.

Qiu Yulan blinked. "That's my mother-in-law."

Cui Qian was stunned. "The 'Mom' you were just talking about isn't your biological mother, but your mother-in-law?"

A hint of melancholy flashed in Qiu Yulan's eyes. "My biological mother died early, and now I only have my mother-in-law."
