She introduced herself, "Hello, I'm Qiao Wanyue from the Economics Department."
The others stared at the girl who was glowing white, momentarily stunned.
They were all educated youth sent to the countryside, and some had come from rural areas through exams. They had worked in the fields for long periods of time, and their bodies were covered in black soot, just like coal. The other students weren't much fairer either.
But now, seeing this roommate, and then silently looking at my own arm...
"Hello Bai, hello, my name is Ye Yuan."
Hello, my name is Wang Li.
"My name is He Zhaonan."
Qiao Wanyue nodded and went inside with her things.
When her other roommates saw that she was carrying things, they quickly went over to help her.
"Are you new here? Is your home far away?" Ye Yuan asked.
Qiao Wanyue shook her head, "I'll be staying in the capital for now."
"Are you from the capital?"
Qiao Wanyue: "No, I came with the army. My husband is here."
Ye Yuan exclaimed in surprise, "You're married?"
She looked so young and beautiful, yet she married a scoundrel!
Qiao Wanyue didn't continue the topic. "Well, it's settled. Have you all packed your things? Are the remaining beds mine?" She looked down at her number tag.
The dormitory had four-person bunk beds, and she got number three, which should have been the lower bunk.
However, the lower bunk near the window was already filled, and the upper bunk was empty.
Seeing that she was looking at her bed, Wang Li plopped down and said, "I came early, this is mine."
Qiao Wanyue frowned slightly.
She wasn't trying to grab anything; she could have either the upper or lower bunk. The number tags were given out by the teacher, not based on who arrived first or last. It was the initial choice, and it would have been fine if she had given it up voluntarily.
She doesn't ask questions proactively, and even acts as if she's perfectly at ease.
Qiao Wanyue didn't want to indulge her. "Mine is number three. If you want to sleep on the lower bunk, ask the counselor to switch. I don't want to sleep on the upper bunk." She walked over and put her things on the table.
Wang Li: "Didn't you hear me? This is my seat."
Qiao Wanyue: "Yours? It says your name on it? Look at the bed, is my name written on it?"
Wang Li looked unwell.
"What's wrong with letting me have my way?"
Qiao Wanyue: "Does my face say I have a good temper?"
"We're all roommates, we'll be living together for four years, stop making a fuss," Ye Yuan began to say, trying to appease them.
He Zhaonan chimed in, "Xiaoli injured her leg, Qiao, you..."
"I'm the one who got hurt?"
He Zhaonan was taken aback.
“I didn’t hurt her, so why should I give in to her? There are two lower bunks in this dorm, why don’t you give her the other one?” She smiled and looked at number one, which was none other than He Zhaonan’s seat.
He Zhaonan shut up.
She's afraid of heights, and who knows if the top bunk might fall down.
She doesn't want to give it up.
Ye Yuan's expression was also not very good.
She silently took a step back, no longer joining their conversation.
In the end, Wang Li's shop was still thrown onto the top bunk. As for her mood, Qiao Wanyue didn't care. After packing her own things, she asked where to get a meal card.
But no one paid any attention to her.
Wang Li angrily jumped and bounced on the upper bunk.
She ignored her.
"I'll go with you," Ye Yuan finally said.
She had a hunch that He Zhaonan was probably good friends with Wang Li, and that they were from the same place. Ye Yuan wasn't completely familiar with them yet.
"good."
"Wanyue, your meal card is ready."
Grandpa Wen's voice came from outside the door.
