Chapter 44 Counterattack (1/2)

Qiao Wanyue couldn't help but roll her eyes.

Is it something to be honored to be chosen by her?

"No, I won't lend it to you," she said decisively.

Yang Lin walked to the bicycle and looked at the brand-new bicycle. He couldn't help but curse Qiao Wanyue in his heart again. He thought of what his mother had said to him that afternoon. The Yang family, with its orphans and widows, had a hard life.

Qiao Wanyue, his niece-in-law, didn't help him at all; instead, she only cared about enjoying herself, which made him so angry that his heart and lungs trembled.

He carefully touched the bicycle; its brand-new surface was so smooth that you could see your reflection in it. His mouth practically stretched to the back of his head in a wide grin. He could already imagine how the Yang family would praise him when he pushed the bicycle to their house.

Upon hearing Qiao Wanyue's refusal, Yang Lin paused, his sharp, eagle-like eyes glaring at her.

"What did you say."

His hands didn't stop moving; he forcefully pushed the car outwards.

As far as Yang Lin was concerned, everything belonging to the Lu family belonged to the Yang family. He had been married into the family for so many years, and had been looked down upon and gossiped about by the villagers. What was wrong with him taking some of his own family's things to show filial piety to his mother?

Qiao Wanyue sat in the courtyard, holding Lu Hui in her arms. When she saw her grandfather pushing her second aunt's cart, Lu Hui was so excited that he waved his arms and legs. Yang Lin glared at him, and the little guy was so scared that he shrank his neck and dared not say a word.

Qiao Wanyue fed the little one a peach shortbread, "Is it delicious?"

Her leisurely demeanor made the little guy anxious. "Second Aunt, Grandpa..."

Qiao Wanyue wasn't in a hurry. "Sweetie, eat some peach shortbread..."

The next second, Yang Lin started cursing in a fit of anger.

"Qiao Wanyue, open it for me."

Yang Lin pushed the cart out, but after only a couple of steps, the cart stopped moving. There was a lock on the rear wheel of the cart, but this lock was no problem for Yang Lin. He forced it open and found that there was an even thicker lock in front of the wheel, thicker than his wrist.

The handlebars and chain were locked.

It's a Lu Mu lock.

Yang Lin, cornered, resorted to violence and started cursing at Qiao Wanyue.

Qiao Wanyue calmly fed the last bite of peach shortbread to Lu Hui, then stood up and patted the crumbs off her clothes. The little guy's eyelids twitched at the sight, and he quickly caught the crumbs with his hands and put them into his mouth.

"There's more, don't take these." Qiao Wanyue stopped Lu Hui from picking them up from the ground.

Upon hearing Qiao Wanyue's words, the little guy indeed stopped picking them up and stood obediently beside his aunt.

"It's my car, whether I open it or not is up to me."

Yang Lin was also intimidated by this daughter-in-law. He lowered his voice and said, "Your aunt's family borrowed Momo. They'll return it in a couple of days. Her family of orphans and widows have never seen a new car before. They'll be happy with it for a couple of days and then return it to you."

He said it was only natural.

It was an honor for Qiao Wanyue that the Yang family had taken a liking to her.

She dared not lend it to her.

Qiao Wanyue: "No."

"I told you, I'll return it in a couple of days," Yang Lin repeated.

Qiao Wanyue twitched the corners of her mouth and deliberately raised her voice, "I already said, I won't lend it."

“How can you be so heartless? Your uncle passed away early, and his family, a widow and her children, has had a hard life. What’s wrong with borrowing your bicycle? It’s not like we’re stealing it from you. How can you be so cruel?” he said, sounding heartbroken.

If Qiao Wanyue didn't lend it, she would be breaking a divine law.

Sister-in-law Lu and Lu Rong were cooking in the kitchen when they heard this and couldn't hold back anymore. She grabbed a kitchen knife and was about to rush out when Lu Rong stopped her.

"Don't go, Wanyue can handle it."

Sister-in-law Lu looked at her younger brother's sister-in-law's thin back with a puzzled expression.

Can that small frame withstand her father-in-law?

Seeing that Qiao Wanyue remained motionless, Yang Lin's eyes darted around.
