Qiao Family
Qiao Sheng rubbed his aching temples. "Wanyue, what exactly do you want to do? The house is in such a mess. Can't you have any consideration for us parents?" He sat in the head of the family seat, looking wearily at his eldest daughter.
"The house is already in complete chaos, are you going to cause more trouble?"
Qiao Wanyue leaned against the doorframe, somewhat amused. "I'm making a scene? Captain, you're the one who told me to go home, and then you and your wife came to criticize me, and your eldest son came to condemn me, even threatening to beat me up."
Why do you think I'm making a scene?
Qiao Sheng looked at her, puzzled. "Everything was fine before, why are you so resentful now?"
Qiao Wanyue was too lazy to argue with him. "If you don't pay back the money, then we'll see you at the police station."
After saying that, she turned and left.
"Stop." Qiao Sheng's tone was somewhat annoyed.
He knew he couldn't let her cause trouble any longer. Because of the marriage, he, as the brigade leader, was already being ridiculed by the villagers. If Qiao Wanyue didn't return home after her wedding, the reputation of the Qiao family would be completely ruined.
"Stop right there, I'll get you the money." Qiao Sheng sighed. "Stay home for a while, I'll give you the money."
Qiao Wanyue stopped in her tracks, a cold glint in her eyes.
She stepped out of the house and found the Qiao family home bustling with activity. Qiao Xingwang was bandaging someone in the yard, while Liang Xiu was squatting by the well washing her face, vigorously lathering her face with soap and rubbing it as if she wanted to peel off a layer of skin.
Qiao Xingjia came out of the room, and suppressed sobs could be heard coming from inside.
He glared at Qiao Wanyue. "Why didn't you say so sooner?"
Qiao Wanyue: ?
She rolled her eyes and turned her face away from the man in the green hat.
The Qiao family hadn't had lunch yet. Today they were preparing a homecoming banquet for their two daughters. Qiao Sheng had Liang Xiu borrow fifty yuan specifically to make the banquet a grand affair, in order to regain the face they had on their daughters' wedding day.
But they waited and waited and waited, but Qiao Wanyue never came back. Qiao Shanshan knew that Qiao Wanyue had returned early in the morning. Qiao Sheng was so angry at home that he smashed a plate. Later, Aunt Taohua's neighbor, who was a shrew and a bitter enemy of Liang Xiu, came to the Qiao family to mock Liang Xiu for not returning home even when her own daughter was having her wedding.
Qiao Shengcai then learned that Qiao Wanyue had gone to his second great-uncle's house.
"You should have said so earlier? Would you have believed me?" Qiao Wanyue's eyes were filled with laughter.
Qiao Xingjia choked.
"Qiao Wanyue, are you out of your mind?" Qiao Xingjia was unhappy and needed an outlet for his frustration.
Qiao Wanyue glanced at him. Qiao Xingjia was a typical bully at home. He was Qiao Sheng's second son, with his older brother Qiao Xingwang above him and his younger sister Qiao Shanshan below him. Qiao Sheng and his wife paid very little attention to him.
He had a bad temper since childhood, which contrasted with his "gentle and refined" older brother.
"none of your business."
Qiao Wanyue scoffed coldly and walked towards the door. She didn't want to stay in the Qiao family for even a minute longer.
At this moment, Qiao Shanshan came out.
Qiao Wanyue almost didn't recognize her; her face was swollen like a pig's head, and a faint stench emanated from it.
She stood next to Qiao Xingjia, and Qiao Xingjia subconsciously moved a meter away.
"Second brother!" Qiao Shanshan stomped her foot in anger.
Qiao Xingjia touched his nose guiltily, "Shanshan, your second brother isn't looking down on you, he just thinks men and women shouldn't be so close." He smiled and took a few more steps.
Qiao Shanshan: !!!
She gritted her teeth and glared at Qiao Wanyue, "What are you doing back here?"
