Qiao's mother knocked on the door from outside. "Wanyue, your parents just feel sorry for Shanshan. You are also a piece of my flesh and blood. How could I not like you? Don't think too much about it. I will make it up to you about your work."
Qiao Wanyue turned a deaf ear.
Qiao's mother talked on and on, repeating the same old things over and over again: Shanshan is the younger sister, she's too young, and she should understand.
Qiao Wanyue ignored her. After talking for a while and finding herself being rebuffed, she left.
Qiao Wanyue walked to the bedside. The bed was in a mess, and there were even signs of crawling under the bed. The mouse holes on the floor had been ransacked. It was obvious who had done it.
When Qiao Wanyue came out of the room, no one from the Qiao family was left.
Qiao's father was the brigade leader and had to participate in labor. Qiao's mother was the brigade leader's wife and also served as the women's director in the brigade. Although she didn't do any hard labor, she still had to go out and put on a show.
Qiao Wanyue never used to skip work; she received the same work points as the men every day. Today, however, she didn't want to go to work. She walked around the yard, and Qiao Shanshan's house was empty.
After graduating, Qiao Shanshan stayed at home doing nothing. She considered herself an intellectual after studying for several years, but she was ambitious but lacked practical skills and wanted to work a permanent job in the city. She looked down on temporary jobs, but with the current system of nepotism, there was no place for her.
She stayed at home the whole time.
Now I know without even thinking where they went.
Qiao Wanyue touched the bag at her waist and walked to her parents' room.
The Qiao family lived in four red brick houses. Qiao's father and mother lived in one room, Qiao Shanshan lived in another, and Qiao's second son, who worked as a technician in the village, was married and did not live separately from his wife. He and his wife lived in the same room.
The other room was reserved for Mr. and Mrs. Qiao, who worked in the city.
The remaining room is the main room, which serves as the living room.
The Qiao family's rooms were red brick houses arranged in a straight line. Qiao's father and mother's room was next to the main room. A red curtain opened the main room and the room, revealing a wooden door. Qiao Wanyue pushed open the wooden door.
The room was bright and spacious, with sunlight streaming in through the windows. A bitter smile crossed Qiao Wanyue's lips. She had been squeezed into the living room since she was a child, and later she was sent to a thatched hut.
Qiao's mother said that she was a girl and should give way to her brother.
Later, Shanshan became the younger sister, and she should give way to her younger sister.
Even when she asked Qiao Shanshan to live with her, she was refused.
Qiao's mother's room was simply furnished with a large bed, a dressing table, and a wooden cabinet, all neatly arranged. Qiao Wanyue would come to clean it every day and knew exactly where everything was.
She walked to the bed, squatted down, and pried open two bricks on the ground, revealing a square box. She had discovered this by chance when she was cleaning in her previous life and noticed that the bricks here were not right.
She took out the square box, then took out the bag from her waist and placed it under the box. Mrs. Qiao rarely opened this box to look inside; the most dangerous place was the safest place. She put the money here, and Mrs. Qiao would never find it.
She placed the cloth bag under the iron box and was about to put the iron box in when suddenly, her hand touched something and the lid of the iron box popped open, revealing half a jade pendant inside.
Qiao Wanyue frowned.
She reached out and took out the jade pendant. Half of the jade pendant emitted a faint green light, which dimmed in an instant. Although she did not know the quality of the jade, she knew that it was a fine piece of jade.
Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her hand.
The tip of the jade pendant pierced his fingertip, and a drop of bright red blood dripped onto it.
She frantically tried to wipe away the bloodstains, when suddenly, a green light appeared before her eyes.
In an instant, the scene before her eyes changed to mountains and flowing water. A pot of spring water gushed out from the mountain and fell into a pool on the ground. The water was crystal clear, and plump fish swam in the water.
Along the riverbank, there are also fruits and vegetables that grow year-round, and they all grow very robustly.
