Chapter 41 A Way Out! A Way Out Has Been Found!

Wu Ji's eldest uncle, isn't that the village chief's older brother?

Wow, that's some serious connections!

No wonder the village chief could find ten-yuan bills in his house; you really couldn't get them without connections.

"Village chief, are you home?"

"I am Lin Mo. May I come in?"

Lin Mo carried the ten rabbits and nine pheasants over on his shoulders and back.

When the village chief squinted and opened the door, he saw that Lin Mo hadn't come empty-handed, and his eyes brightened.

"Wow, quite a haul! All rabbits?"

The village chief was overjoyed.

Actually, he had always wanted to do business in exporting furs, but unfortunately he didn't have any stock on hand.

In his earlier years, he managed to catch rabbits sporadically and had a small taste of the sweetness of success.

But as I got older and the weather got colder, my body gradually couldn't handle the kind of work that required both skill and physical strength.

A rabbit pelt, once handed to the older brother, was worth two yuan.

Golden shaded rabbit fur is much prettier than gray fur, and it might only cost three yuan!

When I got up last night to check on the rabbit, hehe!

One wild rabbit actually went into its burrow and gave birth to ten babies!

Ten of them!

This morning, early in the morning, Lin Mo brought over another ten rabbits.

The village chief almost grinned from ear to ear.

There were nine extra pheasants too, oh my god!

Lin Mo didn't keep them in suspense and went straight to the point with the village chief:

"Village chief, I overheard you saying something. You have connections in the county too?"

The village chief narrowed his small eyes, unable to hide his smile:

"You have such sharp ears, you heard everything."

“My elder brother, my own brother! He’s in charge of the Commerce Bureau. When the list comes down from above, he’s in charge of coordinating the procurement.”

After a pause, the village chief sighed regretfully:

"It's a pity we don't have any stock. If we did, we wouldn't be in such dire straits."

Suppressing the overwhelming joy in his heart, Lin Mo slowly smiled and said:

"Tsk tsk, you have this skill but you don't make good use of it."

"Any one item on that coordination list could overwhelm us."

"Could you recommend me?"

The village chief was eyeing the rabbit fur business, and Lin Mo was able to procure wild rabbits with golden fur.

The saying goes, "Pork leaves oil after being handled," so don't even think about getting a recommendation.

Just trap us, that'll solve it.

After muttering to himself for a moment, the village chief smiled slyly:

"Sure, you need something to recommend me, right? You can't expect me to bring you a list, those are all confidential."

"If you're really interested, you should prepare some good stuff yourself. Maybe you'll just get lucky and the county will coordinate something?"

The two foxes, one old and one young, sang a few lines from a ghost story for a while, and Lin Mo knew exactly what was going on in his head.

He was also happy to have a village chief in the middle.

Because transporting mountain products is a major problem, it has to be done.

If you were to bring the village chief along, you would simply need to bring your mountain produce to his house, and he would handle the transportation.

It's a win-win situation.

"Okay!" Lin Mo readily agreed, then turned and looked down at the rabbit.

"What about these rabbits and pheasants? Five yuan each, can you afford them?"

The village chief chuckled with his eyes and silently went into the main room.

When he came out again, he was holding a wad of tempting banknotes in his hand.

"Ninety-five yuan, count it."

Lin Mo reached out and took the money, and immediately his eyes were stunned by the consecutive serial numbers on the brand-new banknotes.

This guy is really something else; he's actually quite wealthy.

Not only are the banknotes brand new, but they're also consecutively numbered!

The temporary livestock shed that the village chief built was only about half a person's height, but it was made of stacked mud bricks.

He could see the situation inside with just a slight peek out.

Damn, the rabbit that was delivered yesterday actually laid eggs, and it laid five eggs in total...

Before he could even count properly, the cunning village chief shoved him, pushing him away.

"Hurry up, this is the time to coordinate the distribution of public grain and the peak season for transporting goods to other places. It will be much quieter once winter comes."

"Let's go."

The village chief shoved the person aside and then closed the door.

Lin Mo, left outside, found himself in a quiet place, but then he heard the village chief's sly chuckle coming from inside the courtyard.

"oops."

I glanced at the sun; it was almost eight o'clock.

While I'm not home, my mother must have gone to the production team to earn work points again, even though she's not home.

Lin Mo hurried toward the production team, and on the way he happened to run into Su Xiaoxiao and Su the carpenter, who were also heading to the team.

Seeing Su Xiaoxiao reminded me of her desire to take the high school entrance exam.

Looking at Su the carpenter again, I remembered that he needed a narrow bamboo basket to scoop fish. I wondered if the dried black oysters, after being pickled and dried, might just happen to be on the bulk purchase list by sheer luck.

I don't care whether they want it or not, I have to give it a try. At worst, I can keep it and stew it at home.

Lin Mo's footsteps gradually approached the father and daughter.

As a result, whether Su the carpenter wanted to avoid suspicion or simply didn't like him, he took Su Xiaoxiao's hand and walked even faster.

Helpless, Lin Mo could only run over directly and get straight to the point when speaking to Carpenter Su:

"Uncle Su, could you help me weave some narrow-mouthed bamboo baskets?" After a pause, Lin Mo lowered his voice:

I'll buy them from you for 50 cents each.

Upon hearing this, the frowning carpenter Su suddenly relaxed his brow, and surprise appeared in his eyes:

"You want a bamboo basket? Hmm..."

After thinking it over, he realized that having a way to make money would be great, and if he could raise enough money, he would actually be happy to send his daughter to take the high school entrance exam.

I'm just worried that if I try to lift it up, I might run out of steam halfway through, and then all my efforts would be wasted.
