Su Xinghe took off his straw hat and fanned himself with it.
“There’s no need to be polite with me. Your dad and I were brothers who grew up together. He passed away early. I’ve seen you take on all the responsibilities of the family. You’re a good kid and you shouldn’t have to put up with this.”
Su Chenhao smiled faintly and didn't reply. He would definitely find out the truth of the matter. If the village chief wasn't hiding anything, he would think the matter was very simple: someone lost a child, and the grandfather picked him up and raised him.
Now that the village chief has chosen to conceal the truth, there must be more to the story than meets the eye. Now is not the time to pursue the truth; he must make other plans.
If they stayed any longer, the brat might ask Su Xinghe again.
"I won't say any more to you. I have things to do at home, so I'll head back now."
"Hmm!" Su Chenhao replied, watching the old man walk back in the direction he had gone.
Qiao Xiaoni: "I didn't expect things to be resolved so easily. I thought I was going to have to argue with your second aunt!"
Su Chenhao nodded, "That's what I was thinking too, but it was resolved so easily."
Qiao Xiaoni leaned closer to him and asked, "What do you think about what happened just now?"
Su Chenhao looked at the girl's face so close to his own. Her freckles were so cute, and her eyelashes were so long that he suddenly had an urge to touch them.
Qiao Xiaoni didn't receive a reply. Looking into his affectionate gaze, she suddenly felt at a loss, and her face flushed again.
"Xiao Ni, I want to date you." Su Chenhao finally decided to say it.
Qiao Xiaoni was stunned. What was going on? Then her hand was grabbed, and she watched as he opened the door, pulled her into the yard, and closed the gate.
She was pressed against the door, her heart pounding. She had never experienced anything like this before; the two of them were so close.
"I am twenty-five years old this year, seven years older than you, which is quite a big difference."
Please don't look down on me because I'm old. I've experienced more than you and can handle things better.
You don't need to worry about anything at home. I'll earn the money; you just need to stay home and relax.
This wasn't the first time Qiao Xiaoni had been confessed to by a man; she had many vivid memories of such confessions, experiencing all sorts of scenes with flowers and diamond rings. But none of them had ever moved her heart. Now, feeling her heart racing, was this what it felt like to be in love?
Su Chenhao continued, "I know we haven't known each other for very long, and you don't know me very well yet. I'll give you time to get to know me, if one day you find that we're not a good match."
You can tell me, and I'll disappear from your sight.
"Su Chenhao, do you know me?" Qiao Xiaoni asked.
Su Chenhao felt as if he had waited an eternity to finally receive a response, and he nodded.
"You are smart and wise, and you are brave in the face of unexpected events. I want to find a wife like you."
Qiao Xiaoni bit her lip and looked at him, "Am I not pretty?"
Su Chenhao smiled, "Beautiful. You are the most beautiful in my eyes. Whether now or in the future, you will only be in my eyes."
Qiao Xiaoni knew her superpowers weren't working, so she placed her hand on his chest; his heart was pounding.
"I'm not someone to mess with. You've only known me for a few days. I have a short temper, and I might do something unexpected if something happens."
"If you betray me in the future, who knows what you might do... like digging a hole here and taking your heart out, aren't you afraid?" The tone was half-joking, trying to see something in his eyes.
