After some effort, we finally reached the cave. There was a lot of weeds at the entrance and no footprints, so it looked like no one had been here for a long time.
Helping him into the cave, the most striking thing that caught our eye was a pile of branches in the corner. Because it had been there for so long, mushrooms had grown on them. Of course, they weren't fresh; they had withered and dried.
There was a pile of black ash in the middle, probably left over from burning firewood, and a pot on the far left was covered with ash.
“Nothing here has changed; no one should have been here,” Su Chenhao said after looking around.
Qiao Xiaoni helped him to a huge rock and helped him sit down.
"You sit down first, I'll go and figure out a way to get the bicycle and the bags in."
"Be careful on the road," Su Chenhao instructed.
"Hmm." Qiao Xiaoni turned and left the cave. Good heavens, as soon as she stepped out, she saw a huge dark cloud moving rapidly towards them from a distance.
Just a moment ago, it was a bright and sunny day, but in just a short while, dark clouds began to drift by.
This was a sign that a heavy rainstorm was about to begin. Fortunately, Su Chenhao wasn't left alone on the mountain. If he had been caught in another downpour, he might have developed a fever or even died.
Thinking of his selfless rescue, she felt an indescribable warmth in her heart. Facing the harsh weather, she smiled, knowing that a rainbow would appear after the rain, just as all difficulties would be overcome if she forged ahead.
She moved the bicycle and bags into the cave before the heavy rain started, leaving her breathless with exhaustion.
Su Chenhao tried to stand up, but he was too weak and sat back down.
Qiao Xiaoni took a deep breath before speaking.
"Don't stand up, rest for a bit. It's about to rain heavily outside. Luckily we took shelter in the cave, otherwise we would have been soaked to the bone."
Su Chenhao frowned. "The weather has been quite hot these past few days. I didn't expect it to rain so soon. If I had known this would happen, I wouldn't have come back today to deal with this."
Qiao Xiaoni, panting, dragged her weak body to his side and sat down on the rock next to him.
"The matter had to be resolved sooner or later; it's just that we were unlucky enough to be caught in the rain."
I don't know if it'll thunder. You didn't see that thick layer of dark clouds outside; it's definitely going to be a torrential downpour.
Su Chenhao saw that her face was flushed, and the stray hairs on her forehead were already damp with sweat.
"Honey, thank you for your hard work just now. I wanted to go out and help, but I didn't have the strength. I could only watch you move the things in little by little. I'm so useless. I was of no use when you needed me the most."
Qiao Xiaoni casually touched his brow. "Don't say that, you silly goose. You've already done so much for me." Her hand involuntarily grabbed his arm. "You chose to save me in that life-or-death moment, which made me realize how important I am to you."
Su Chenhao, if I only had a good impression of you before, then in that instant just now, you have taken root and sprouted in my heart.
Maybe I'll grow into a towering tree soon. Then you won't want me anymore? Believe me, I'll just grab a knife and kill you!
"Haha!" Su Chenhao laughed. "What you're thinking won't happen. I've never changed my mind about what I've decided on, especially since you're the one I've decided on."
Xiao Ni, I'm not looking for a wife to have children. I'm looking for someone who truly understands and cherishes me, and you are the person I've been searching for.
