Chapter 220 Tuberculosis 1

Qiao Xiaoni sighed. Every family has its own troubles. Looking at the beautiful and tidy yard, who would have thought that this family was having such a hard time?

If you heard it with your own ears, you wouldn't believe it. I walked to the door and knocked a few times. Soon a little boy ran out and smiled at me.

Wang Fanfan saw an older girl standing at the door, turned around and went back to tell her mother about it.

When Ma Yulan heard that guests had arrived, she came out of her bedroom and saw a girl standing at the door. As she got closer, she realized that the girl was her neighbor who had recently moved in, and she was the owner of the snack shop.

The young girl was quite young, but she had a lot of guts and decisiveness. In just a few days, she had opened a shop, and business was booming. She had never admired anyone in her life, but now she did—it was the young girl in front of her. She walked to the door and opened it.

"Did you need something from me?"

Her voice was gentle, and Qiao Xiaoni found it very pleasant to listen to. No wonder her second brother had a crush on her; some women are just naturally attractive to men.

"Sister, may I sit inside?"

"Okay!" Ma Yulan turned to let the person into the room.

When Qiao Xiaoni entered the house, she saw that the floor was spotless and the things were arranged neatly. From this, she knew that she usually liked to tidy up and was hardworking.

"Who's come to our house?" Granny Wang called out.

"Mom, it's the young boss from next door who's come to our house," Ma Yulan quickly replied.

"Then let her come in and sit down." After saying that, Granny Wang coughed violently a few more times. She felt that her days were numbered. Sometimes she really wished that she would die before she could catch her breath, so that she wouldn't be a burden to her daughter-in-law and grandson.

With her son dead, her pillar of support was gone. It would be better to be buried sooner and join them in death.

When Ma Yulan entered the room and saw her mother-in-law coughing badly, she quickly poured her some water and brought it to her, watching her drink it.

"Mom, is your throat feeling any better?"

"Much better now. Don't just look after me, go pour some water for the guests." Granny Wang said, trying to sit up. Having been bedridden for years, she had little strength, but with her daughter-in-law's help, she finally managed to sit up. She looked at the little girl sitting in the distance, her face full of good fortune.

"Girl, what's your name?"

"My name is Qiao Xiaoni, you can call me Nizi, that's what everyone in my family calls me." Qiao Xiaoni could tell from her mother-in-law's eyes that she was a very easy person to get along with, at least better than the old lady in her family.

Granny Wang smiled; it had been a long time since any guests had come to her house.

“I heard from my daughter-in-law that your shop is doing very well. You are so capable at such a young age.”

He started coughing again right after he finished speaking, feeling like his throat was about to burst.

Seeing that the old lady wasn't doing well, Qiao Xiaoni asked, "Sister Yulan, have you taken Auntie to the hospital?"

Ma Yulan handed the teacup back to her mother-in-law, only feeling relieved after watching her drink it.

"I went there once before the Lunar New Year. The doctor said I had a bit of a lung infection and prescribed some medicine for me. After taking it, I felt better."

Thinking she was cured, we didn't go to the hospital for a follow-up check-up. Recently, my mother-in-law caught a cold again, and her cough was even worse than before. I wanted to take her to the hospital, but she kept refusing.

Qiao Xiaoni nodded slightly. The old lady's face was pale, and there was a little sweat on her forehead. Her body was probably sweating profusely, and she would excrete as much water as she drank.

"Auntie, do you feel very weak? You never seem to have any energy at all."
