Chapter 28 The Su Family 2

Su Chenhao rode his bike home and opened the door to find his younger brother, Su Chenqiu, sitting on a stool, seemingly lost in thought. He had been away from home for two years and noticed that his brother had become quiet and withdrawn since returning.

He only answers one question at a time, a stark contrast to his previous lively personality.

"Chenqiu, what are you thinking about?" After parking the car, he walked over and asked, "Did you have breakfast? I made you some porridge. You're too thin; you should eat more."

"Brother, when are you leaving?" Su Chenqiu asked, feeling very reluctant to part with him. However, remembering what her second aunt had said, she felt it was better for her brother to leave than to stay at home.

My brother had just left this morning when my aunt came to the door and said, "Your brother hasn't gotten married yet because of you. Can you bear to let him stay in the village? If he goes out and does more work, he can send more money back, and your life will be better. He can also find a wife sooner."

You can't be so selfish. He's shouldered everything for the family since he was little, are you going to hold him back?

Su Chenqiu felt a sharp pain in his heart as he thought of these words. He would be 11 years old next year. Thinking of the suffering his older brother had endured since childhood, he felt like a burden, and he couldn't let his brother suffer any more…

Su Chenhao sat next to his younger brother, thinking the little guy was overthinking things again. He took out the candy Qiao Xiaoni had given him and waved the paper bag in front of him.

"Chenqiu, guess what's inside?"

Su Chenqiu was just a child after all. He was very interested in what was inside the paper bag and looked at it, but he didn't reach out to take it.

"Brother, what did you buy me this time?"

"It's candy, but I didn't buy it. A lady treated you to it. I'll introduce you to her sometime. She's a very nice person, and I'm sure you'll like her when you meet her." Su Chenhao finished speaking, opened his pocket, took out the candy, unwrapped it, and put it in his younger brother's mouth.

Is it sweet?

Su Chenqiu tasted a sweet flavor. It wasn't that he hadn't eaten candy before, but it had been so long that he had forgotten what sweetness even tasted like. After savoring it, he said:

"Bro, what does that girl look like? Why did she give you candy? Is she your girlfriend?"

Su Chenhao was somewhat helpless after his younger brother bombarded him with questions: "What are you thinking about? She's Qiao Xiaoshan's sister, a really nice person. We just happened to run into her at the market today."

My relationship with her isn't the kind you're imagining.

Thinking of the little girl's adorable appearance, Su Chenhao couldn't quite describe the feeling, but he just thought she was quite interesting.

Su Chenqiu didn't think that way. He suddenly wondered if his brother would not have to leave if he got married.

"Is Xiaoshan's sister pretty? I've never seen her before. Could you take me to visit her sometime?"

Su Chenhao never imagined that his younger brother was thinking about finding him a wife, so he nodded and said...

"Okay, once I'm done with my things these next few days, I'll take you to visit his family sometime, so you won't be stuck at home all day wondering what to do."

I told you yesterday that I wanted you to go to school. Have you thought it through?

“Brother, going to school costs a lot of money, I don’t want to go anymore.” Su Chenqiu said with his head down. “Besides, I haven’t been to school for so many years, and kids my age are already in the third grade of elementary school. I really can’t sit in a classroom with a bunch of little brats.”
