Su Chenhao knew that Qiao Xiaoni would not lie to him. He picked up the jade pendant and did not feel anything special about it. It was just the same as it had been in his hand before.
The matter was so bizarre that he found it somewhat unbelievable.
Qiao Xiaoni recounted how the beast recognized its master and what happened afterward, including that Momo was a white tiger divine beast.
As Su Chenhao listened to each and every incident, he was deeply shocked. The jade pendant in his hand had brought about so many things; was it a blessing or a curse?
"Okay, I've told you everything." Qiao Xiaoni said, observing his reaction.
Su Chenhao hugged her and said, "You said the jade pendant poses no threat to you, so take good care of it. What I give you is yours. You are my wife, so don't have any wild thoughts. Everything I have is yours."
Qiao Xiaoni looked up: "Don't you want to take it back? Just take out one or two items from inside the jade pendant and you'll be set for life."
Su Chenhao placed his hand on her lips: "You can't say these things to a second person, not even your parents or your brother."
They're easily frightened and couldn't handle something like that. Besides, what if someone leaks it out and bad people harm you?
Qiao Xiaoni could tell from his expressions and reactions that they were the most genuine, and she couldn't detect his inner thoughts. She was willing to believe that what she saw was all there was to it, and that having him in her life was enough.
Su Chenhao lowered his head and kissed her forehead: "Alright, it's getting late, we should go back. If we don't go back soon, they might come looking for us."
Qiao Xiaoni nodded, then got on her bicycle, putting her arm around his waist. She felt much better after telling him the truth. She hadn't told him about her rebirth yet and planned to find another opportunity to tell him, otherwise she was afraid he wouldn't be able to accept it.
Unbeknownst to her, Su Chenhao appeared calm on the surface, but inside he was in turmoil; the matter of the jade pendant was far too unbelievable.
Thinking about my little black cat at home, which turned out to be a white tiger mythical beast, I wondered why it had turned into a cat. No wonder it seemed to understand everything I said.
Putting aside the jade pendant for now, this matter needs to be clarified first; he cannot allow any danger to appear around Qiao Xiaoni.
By the time I got home, it was completely dark.
They got off their bicycles and had just pushed open the courtyard gate when they saw Li Meihua coming out of the house.
"Why are you two so late? Your dad was worried and almost sent your older brother to look for you."
Su Chenhao: "The car behind us didn't have much air left, so we drove for a while and came back late."
Li Meihua looked them over from head to toe. Their expressions seemed normal, and their clothes were intact. Sure enough, her old man had been overthinking things.
He thought the two children had deliberately stayed outside and had done something wrong...
Su Chenhao noticed his mother-in-law's scrutinizing gaze and knew perfectly well that they had misunderstood. He smiled helplessly.
"Auntie, we've been walking all this way and we're starving. Is dinner ready yet?"
Li Meihua smiled: "The food was ready a long time ago. There was some leftover braised meat today, so I made some steamed buns with chives when I got back. Everyone was waiting for you to come back before eating.
You're back just in time! The buns in the pot are ready. Hurry up and wash your hands before eating!
Qiao Xiaoni stepped forward and took Li Meihua's arm: "Mom, take some small chili peppers out of the jar, I'll chop them up and make a side dish later."
