Chapter 363 The House

The door next door didn't open until the last group of breakfast customers left. Xiao Ruxue came out, but it didn't look like a business opening; she just stood at the door and looked around.

Qiao Xiaoni tidied up the things on the table, turned around and went back into the shop without looking back.

Xiao Ruxue waited all night, but her younger brother still hadn't returned. She was a little worried, afraid that he had gone out to do something else.

The reason we moved here to do business is because my younger brother is a gambler, and we simply couldn't control him. Our family was originally quite well-off, neither rich nor poor. But because of my brother's gambling addiction, we have to pay off debts every year, and now we only have this much money left.

Ma Yulan and Tao Chunfang busied themselves in the kitchen for a while, preparing all the ingredients needed for lunch, before coming out to eat lunch with everyone.

The meal was simple, consisting of one dish and one soup, and the two tables were placed together so that everyone could eat together.

Su Chenhao put down his chopsticks: "I'm going out for a walk, I'll be back in a bit."

Qiao Xiaoni knew he was going to ask Bai Cheng about housing, and since he hadn't found a reliable place yet, she hadn't told her parents, lest they worry about spending money. The elderly had suffered their whole lives and were afraid of spending money, wishing they could stretch every penny in half.

Ma Yulan took off her apron: "I'm going back to check on the child and see if he's eaten."

He's been a bit irritable lately because I've been working so much and haven't had time to spend with him; his little face has gotten so thin from hunger.

"Then go home and spend some time with your son at noon today, and come over later," Qiao Xiaoni said to her.

Ma Yulan waved her hand: "How can that be? The shop is so busy. What if we can't keep up if we're short one person? I'll go back and keep him company for ten minutes, and then I'll come back."

She is grateful for the significant change in her family's life. It's all thanks to the job they provided. She feels she has to be worthy of the high salary. It's normal for children to have tantrums; they'll get over it with time. Besides, the child will be starting school next year, and it's time for him to develop some life skills.

Two people left in the blink of an eye, and everyone finished their meal and sat down to rest. The weather was getting cooler and the wind was stronger, so the door wasn't open as usual.

Within half an hour, customers started arriving at the store, and Ma Yulan had to rush back to the kitchen to get busy.

There was no sound from next door, which Qiao Xiaoni found a little strange.

The husky lay lazily at the door, content with its daily meals and water.

The first few guests had finished their meal, and Qiao Xiaoni paid their bill and escorted them to the door. She then saw Su Chenhao walking back from a distance.

The round trip took an hour, and she thought to herself that the house issue should be getting better. Two more people came in to eat, and she quickly invited them in and ordered their food.

When I had some free time, I quickly went to the cabin to find Su Chenhao, and went straight in to ask:

"You're back so late, is there any progress on the house?"

Su Chenhao nodded: "There's some progress. He happens to know a family who went to do business in another city. They asked them to look after the house, and they even gave him the keys."

He simply gave me the keys so we could move in sooner.

Everything is already provided; you only need to bring some bedding, clothes, and basic cooking utensils.

Qiao Xiaoni sat down next to him. "If we go there so abruptly, what if they come back and cause trouble?"

He said there wouldn't be any trouble and that he would call the homeowners at some time to let them know.

"Regarding the rent, we can just pay a small amount. As long as we don't damage anything, there shouldn't be any major issues. Besides, even if there is damage, we'll just pay for it at cost; there's no need to overthink it."
