Qiao Xiaoni sat in the taxi feeling down, and her mood only improved after she got out. Only by becoming stronger could she provide a better life for her family.
The luggage was placed on the ground, and there were still 15 minutes before the train arrived at the station, which was just enough time.
They arrived at the waiting hall, and Su Chenhao saw that there were already many people standing at the ticket gate.
"Do you need to go to the restroom? It'll definitely be inconvenient when you get on the bus later."
Qiao Xiaoni glanced in the direction of the restroom and nodded: "Then I'll go first, and then you can go next."
"Okay, I'll wait for you at that row of chairs over there." Su Chenhao carried his luggage in both hands and waited until Qiao Xiaoni went into the restroom before walking towards the row of chairs.
The toilets at the old-fashioned train station were chargeable. Qiao Xiaoni paid five cents, asked the old woman for some toilet paper, and then went into the toilet.
The money was well spent; it was very clean inside, much more hygienic than the toilet at home, after I finished taking care of my bodily needs.
Once outside, they spotted Su Chenhao immediately. Halfway there, they saw a little girl, about three or four years old, dressed in red, wandering in the crowd. There were no adults around. After searching around without success, she stood there and burst into tears.
People around her pointed and whispered, but no one stepped forward. She walked over, squatted down, and asked the child, "Where are your mom and dad?"
"I can't find it!" the child cried loudly, and she didn't know how to explain.
Qiao Xiaoni glanced around and saw a caretaker not far ahead. She picked up the child and handed him over, carefully giving him a few instructions, just in case someone tried to take the child away.
After finishing everything, she realized that she had wasted almost all the time. She heard the sound of ticket checking in the distance, so she quickly went to queue up with Su Chenhao to check their tickets.
"I felt sorry for the little girl, so I helped her out. I didn't expect it to take so long." Qiao Xiaoni turned to look at Su Chenhao with an apologetic expression.
Su Chenhao: "I saw it all. If it were me, I would have gone up to help too. There were toilets in the car as well."
I can relieve myself in the car after we start driving. I just don't know when that girl's family will be able to find her.
"I have already spoken with the station manager. We will ask for information after the child has calmed down, and then we will look for his parents."
"You can't just hand your child over to anyone. If such a young child falls into the hands of bad people, the consequences could be unimaginable."
Su Chenhao nodded: "Your plan is very thoughtful. We should be able to find the child's parents soon."
Soon it was their turn to have their tickets checked, and they successfully completed the ticket check.
At that time, there weren't many sleeper berths on the train; there were only four carriages.
After boarding the train, they quickly found their assigned sleeper berths according to the seats shown on their tickets.
Su Chenhao put down his luggage: "Finally, I can rest for a while. I'll go get a kettle and fill it with some hot water. It won't be so easy to get hot water when there are more people later."
"Go ahead! I'll pack my things." Qiao Xiaoni opened her small bag and took out a bag of boiled eggs and two lunchboxes filled with dumplings. Li Meihua had packed these for them in case they got hungry on the bus.
Finally, I took out a bottle of chili sauce. Eating dumplings without dipping sauce is soulless.
They bought the lower bunk of both the upper and lower bunks in the sleeper car, just so it would be more convenient for them to sleep.
Everything was laid out on the table. Qiao Xiaoni then took a sheet out of her bag and spread it on the berth, so she could lie down comfortably.
