Guo Chenpi frowned. Just as he had guessed, this young man was not to be trifled with. His words were logical and reasonable; if he didn't agree, he would seem disloyal.
"Uncle Guo, you and my dad have been friends for many years, please make an exception for me today! I will definitely pay you back as soon as possible, and I will never let you down again." Gu Anyi stepped forward and pleaded. He wasn't stupid; he had already guessed what had happened based on what had occurred before.
The reason Guo Chenpi lent him money again and again was simply because he wanted to take over the shop.
The shop cannot be sold; it represents the Gu family's last hurrah. It absolutely cannot be sold while he's alive; he doesn't want to cause his father grief.
Guo Chenpi decided to go back and think about it: "I didn't bring the IOU with me, so I'll come back tomorrow and we can discuss it then." After saying that, he turned and left without leaving any room for negotiation.
He wanted to go back and discuss the next steps with someone.
After watching the person leave, Su Chenhao turned to Gu Anyi, who was standing to the side, and asked, "How much money do you owe outside?"
“He owes the most, the rest are just small amounts. I’ve been on credit with other people these days, all sorts of things, about 30 yuan or so.” Gu Anyi finished speaking and lowered his head.
Su Chenhao felt sorry for Gu Anyi. It was already quite good that he had managed to hold on until now. In a big city, what skills could a young man like him possibly have to earn money?
"Okay, I understand. I'll pay you back with the money I make after the shop is renovated."
However, this money isn't something I'm giving you for free; it's to pay your rent. Don't borrow money from them anymore. If you need money, just tell me, and within reasonable limits, I'll lend you some. Then it will be deducted from your salary, so neither of us loses out.
Gu Anyi: "Okay, I'll do as you say. I'll leave my salary and rent with you first to pay off the debts. Then I can use the money to pay my dad's hospital bills and buy him some good food."
The little incident passed, and they went to the market to buy materials as planned.
Gu Anyi did get to know a lot of people, found most of what he needed, and then paid for and delivered it back to the store.
After more than two hours of this work, the shop was piled high with stuff, and a kitchen needed to be built in the corner, so they needed to find two more workers.
Gu Anyi: "I know there are many workers waiting to work at Beida Bridge, we can go there."
Su Chenhao casually grabbed a stool and sat down: "No rush, it's almost noon, let's eat first, and then go find the workers to get to work."
Gu Anyi heard his stomach rumble as he realized it was time to eat, and looked at them sheepishly.
Qiao Xiaoni suggested, "I know there's a noodle shop at the intersection ahead, let's go there to eat."
Gu Anyi looked up: "That noodle shop is delicious. The last time I ate there was before my dad got sick."
Su Chenhao stood up and said, "Then let's go to the noodle shop to eat. Let's eat quickly and then come back to find the workers to do the work."
Gu Anyi nodded happily. Ever since his father fell seriously ill, he had been living a life of going hungry. Now he finally saw hope and felt like he had come back to life.
They locked the main gate again and went to the noodle shop, which was packed with people during lunchtime. They waited a short while before a table became available.
Su Chenhao first went to the counter and ordered three bowls of noodles. Then he looked at the menu and ordered a plate of pork ribs and a side dish, thinking that it should be enough for the three of them.
