Chapter 628 Meeting the Parents 2

Seeing how frankly Song Mingyuan spoke, Zhou Meiling felt much more at ease and less anxious than before.

A taxi pulled up in front of them, interrupting their conversation.

Song Mingyuan opened the back door of the car and let Zhou Meiling get in first. Then he sat in the passenger seat and said to the driver, "Yuquan Road Family Compound."

"Okay!" the driver replied, stepped on the gas, and the car turned a corner and left the school gate.

As Zhou Meiling watched the school gate gradually disappear into the distance, she encouraged herself.

The car stopped after 35 minutes, every minute an agony. Zhou Meiling stared at the old villas in the distance, each one more magnificent than the last. Her eyes widened in disbelief. Wasn't this supposed to be a family compound? How could the houses be so nice?

After settling the fare, Song Mingyuan opened the back door of the car and saw Zhou Meiling staring intently at the villa in front of him.

Do you like this kind of house?

"You live here?" Zhou Meiling looked at him. He usually dressed very plainly and didn't look like a wealthy person at all. She had heard that his family was well-off, but she didn't expect them to be this well-off.

“That’s right!” Song Mingyuan stretched out his hand: “We’ve arrived, aren’t you going to get off the bus?”

Zhou Meiling got out of the car under his urging, and after her feet touched the ground:

"With your family's good conditions, would you even want a daughter-in-law like me?"

"Am I getting married, or are they getting married?" Song Mingyuan put his arm around her shoulder. "Let's go! An ugly daughter-in-law always has to meet her in-laws eventually."

"You're so annoying! Who said I was going to marry you?" Zhou Meiling felt hot inside; she was definitely blushing again. Lately, she'd been blushing more and more often; she'd lost count of how many times it'd happened.

Song Mingyuan laughed: "You're destined to be my wife, there's no escaping you!"

"Hmph!" Zhou Meiling was slightly angry, feeling that he was being a bit arrogant.

“If you run away, I will find you no matter where you are in the world.” Song Mingyuan’s eyes were firm.

Zhou Meiling bit her lip: "The way you're saying that makes it sound like you've got me cornered for life."

“That’s right! I’ve got you covered,” Song Mingyuan replied.

Zhou Meiling knew she couldn't win an argument with him, so she grabbed his arm and said, "Weren't you going to take me to your house? Then come on over!"

"Yes, my dear wife!" Song Mingyuan put his arm around her shoulder and led her forward.

Zhou Meiling struggled slightly, but he only hugged her tighter. Helpless, she had no choice but to give up and was led by him all the way to the door of a small white house with a large red iron gate.

The house is at least several decades old and has a somewhat European/American style.

"This house was left to me by my grandfather. He was a founding hero of the nation. Otherwise, my family wouldn't be living in such a nice house," Song Mingyuan explained.

"Oh! I see. Your grandfather must be very powerful."

“Yes, he was my hero, but unfortunately he passed away not long after I was born.” Song Mingyuan said, opening the door.

Zhou Meiling noticed that some trees had been planted in the yard, but it was a pity that it was winter now; it would have been a beautiful sight in the summer.

The dogs in the yard started barking.

"Dahuang, if you dare to yell at my wife, I'll stew you into dog meat!" Song Mingyuan roared.

The dog immediately stopped barking and started making whimpering sounds.

"He can actually understand what you're saying," Zhou Meiling exclaimed, looking at the doghouse in the distance. A big yellow dog stood proudly there; it didn't look fierce, but it barked quite loudly.
