After this whole farce, I was late getting back to the dorm, and even if I rushed back, the dorm doors would be closed. I can't let a young girl stay in a hotel.
Song Mingyuan pulled Zhou Meiling to the outside corridor: "It's too late to go back now, why don't you come home with me tonight!"
"Just call the dorm supervisor and let her know; nothing should happen."
"Well, that's all we can do." Zhou Meiling thought to herself that if she had known this would happen, she would have told the dormitory aunt before leaving.
They went to the hospital office to discuss it and then borrowed the phone to make a call to their dormitory.
Unable to get through to their own dorm, they had no choice but to call the dorm next door. After much pleading, the dorm auntie agreed, saying she would talk to their dorm auntie later.
The aunt was very kind and even told her to be careful while she was out.
After the call ended, Zhou Meiling went home with Song Mingyuan.
Song Aiguo and Zhao Susu stayed behind to keep watch. They were both worried about leaving one of them behind, so they decided to stay together.
I took a taxi back home and saw that the food on the living room table had gone cold.
Everything was fine during the day, but after that happened, I still feel terrible.
Zhou Meiling took off her down jacket and put it on the sofa: "Take the food to the kitchen, it's not good to leave it here. We can reheat the food tomorrow and eat it again."
"Okay." Song Mingyuan responded, and then he helped her tidy up the things on the table and put them all in the kitchen.
After tidying up, the two sat on the sofa to rest.
Song Mingyuan turned on the TV and watched the news silently. Reflecting on the events of the day, he couldn't hold back any longer.
“Grandpa did a lot of harm. If he had explained everything back then, none of this would have happened.”
Zhou Meiling: "I guess he's in a dilemma too. There might be other things going on. As the younger generation, we shouldn't speculate. Since it's already happened, let's try to find a solution."
“You’re right, our most important task right now is to solve the problem. Auntie hasn’t calmed down yet, and she might still do something extreme.”
"Not necessarily. She used to think that way because she believed she and her father weren't biological siblings. Now that she knows, her obsession should have dissipated a lot. With some guidance, perhaps she can open her heart," Zhou Meiling said, offering her opinion.
"I hope so! Are you tired? If you are, go to my room to rest, I'll go to another room to rest."
"I'm a little tired, but I want to stay with you for a while. So much has happened today, you must be feeling bad."
"I'm not feeling too comfortable. Why don't you tell me about your family situation to distract me?"
"That works too. My parents are similar to yours; they're both optimistic and cheerful. They sometimes argue, but my dad is always the first to back down. Everyone jokes that he's henpecked."
My dad, however, didn't think it was a big deal. He said, "If I don't pamper my wife, who will?"
"That's exactly what I was thinking. I'll spoil you from now on too."
"Don't interrupt."
"good!"
The two chatted back and forth for a long time until the ten o'clock bell rang. Zhou Meiling was so sleepy that she couldn't stand it anymore, so she rubbed her eyes and stood up.
"I'm going back to my room to sleep, you should get some rest too."
Song Mingyuan yawned: "I'm going back to my room to sleep in a bit. Feel free to touch anything in the room."
"Don't worry, I won't stand on ceremony with you." Zhou Meiling turned around and went upstairs with a smile.
