She was in a good mood and would eat anything, so she went to the food window and bought three ounces of rice. She usually ate no more than two ounces, but today she was tired from tidying up and wanted to eat more.
As she turned to leave, she noticed someone standing behind her. Looking up, she saw Song Mingyuan.
"You..." Zhou Meiling was so excited she didn't know what to say, and she was trying to figure out how to persuade her aunt to help her make the call. Then this person appeared right in front of her.
Song Mingyuan took in her reaction. He had played cards with his roommates when he returned to the dormitory today, which was why he came out to get food so late.
He had just finished the last serving of braised fish and was looking for a place to eat when he saw Zhou Meiling. In the end, he couldn't help but come over.
"It's so good to see you." Zhou Meiling pulled him to a corner to sit down.
"Why are you being so proactive today? Aren't you afraid someone will see?" Song Mingyuan couldn't help but tease.
"Don't mention that, I have something to tell you." Zhou Meiling raised her voice as she saw that the other students had finished eating and left.
"Speak," Song Mingyuan replied with only one word. Seeing his beloved girl only eating cabbage and tofu, he felt heartbroken and quickly put the fish from his lunchbox into hers. Then he picked up some cabbage and tofu for himself and ate it heartily.
Zhou Meiling recounted the whole story, feeling that she had never spoken so quickly before.
Song Mingyuan initially had an appetite, but after hearing the story, he lost his appetite and casually put down his chopsticks.
"Is your roommate mentally ill?"
"Isn't that right? She's sick. The little girl calls it princess syndrome, and I think that's pretty much it." Zhou Meiling felt hungry at this moment, picked up her spoon to eat, and then realized that the vegetables in the lunchbox had all been replaced with fish and meat.
"You ate all the fish, how can that be?"
Song Mingyuan: "If I say it's okay, then it's okay. You're so thin you barely have any flesh on your face. You need to eat meat every meal from now on. If you run out of money, you can tell me. I'm your man, understand?"
Zhou Meiling found herself increasingly drawn to this obsessive and domineering nature, something no one had ever done for her before.
Song Mingyuan waited until she had almost finished eating before speaking: "I'll take the train home with you tomorrow."
"Ah!" Zhou Meiling was a little surprised and choked on the food in her mouth.
Song Mingyuan quickly handed over the bowl of soup: "Take a sip quickly, and you'll feel better after swallowing it."
Zhou Meiling did as she was told and finished the whole bowl of egg drop soup. She had only eaten about 70% full before, but now she was completely full and couldn't drink a drop of water.
I had only planned to have a simple meal, but I ended up eating food that Song Mingyuan had ordered.
Seeing that she was alright, Song Mingyuan dared to speak again: "My parents have already prepared everything. I'll take a taxi home tonight and bring everything I need. Then I'll ask the principal for leave tomorrow morning. You can take his car to the train station first, and I'll follow you in a taxi."
"Mmm." Zhou Meiling felt so happy; Song Mingyuan had thought of everything.
After finishing their meal, the two parted reluctantly, knowing that this brief separation was so that they could be together openly the next day.
Song Mingyuan returned to his dormitory and began packing his things. He then left the school just before the gates closed and took a taxi home. He told his parents what had happened and received their approval.
Song Aiguo looked at his impatient son and said, "You're a grown man now. When you go to someone else's house, you have to be flexible and know when to stand up for yourself. No matter what happens, you can't talk back to your parents. You have to remember this, or you'll suffer later."
