Chapter 737

Zhang Xinyue sat on the bed crying. Her parents had heard from someone that the factory had given out a lot of things before the New Year.

I didn't get anything back, and they scolded me severely. I really couldn't swallow this insult.

During the Chinese New Year, everyone else's house is filled with joy, but her house is lifeless. It's just a few things, isn't it?

The door was pushed open with a creak, and a woman wearing a blue sweater, looking weathered and worn, walked in.

"New Moon, don't blame us for being angry. So many things, and you just gave them away like that. You didn't even blink an eye, and you didn't even tell us. If you were in your shoes, wouldn't you be angry?"

"Mom, do you think I want to give these things away? It's because my boss is giving me trouble. If I want to stay and work here, I have to give gifts to the team leader, otherwise they simply won't accept me."

"My job is no longer on the packaging line, and I haven't even told you yet! I've been switched to the most tiring job, where I have to wash chili peppers every day and then chop them with a kitchen knife." Zhang Xinyue said, sounding extremely aggrieved, and spread her hands out.

"Look at my hands, they're so red because of the chili peppers."

"Silly child, why didn't you tell me?" Zhang's mother noticed that her daughter's hands were frighteningly red.

Zhang Xinyue felt this was an opportunity: "Mom, I don't want to work in the workshop anymore. Can you tell Dad for me that I can find another job? Even if I have to go to a textile factory, I don't want to work there anymore."

"What nonsense are you talking about? This job is a bit tiring, but the pay is high! Because of this income, several people have asked me what kind of partner you're looking for. You don't know how many people care about this these days." Zhang's mother looked troubled. Thinking about the family's situation, she felt like the sky was falling if her daughter lost this job.

"Aren't you going to work yet?" Zhang's father pushed open the door and shouted, "I heard them say that you have to work overtime on the first day of the Lunar New Year, and they said you'd get double pay. What are you doing at home? Go to work! What's the point of staying at home?"

Zhang Xinyue jumped off the bed in anger: "Is money all you care about? Can't you see how badly I've been bullied? What's so great about that place? Can't I just find another job?"

"No way!" Zhang's father roared, his temper flaring, and slapped his daughter. "You'll stay there and work hard for me. I heard from them that this job has a promising future."

"They might even get a raise, and I could earn seventy or eighty yuan a month!"

"If you like money, go earn it." Zhang Xinyue felt a pang of bitterness. Why did she have such parents? All they cared about was money. Although her family wasn't wealthy, they weren't that poor either.

"If I could earn money, what would I need you for?" Zhang's father picked up the work clothes hanging on the wall and threw them at his daughter. "Aren't you going to change into these? Do I have to do it myself?"

Zhang's mother tugged at her daughter's hand: "Finish your shift today first, we'll talk when you get home tonight, don't be stubborn."

Zhang Xinyue had no choice but to take her clothes to the next room to change before hurriedly leaving the house.

They actually think it's something to be happy about to work on the first day of the Lunar New Year. They don't seem to realize how hard they work.

As she approached the workshop entrance, before she could even go inside, a man grabbed her arm and pulled her to a corner against the wall. Startled, she panicked and tried to scream, but her mouth was covered.
