"Brother Qiao!" Ma Yulan finally managed to say it.
"Ah!" Granny Wang probably couldn't believe that the other person was actually Qiao Xiaoshan.
This young man is undeniably honest and kind. He has visited my home several times before and always behaved himself properly, never looking around and speaking softly.
I never expected that such an honest and kind person would be thinking about his own daughter.
"How long have you been together? What's the situation? Did he do something to you?" Granny Wang asked anxiously, holding her hand.
"No...we've been very polite and haven't done anything wrong." Ma Yulan felt there was hope; although her mother-in-law's reaction was strong, she didn't seem disgusted.
"That's good. You're a good child in every way, except you're too soft-hearted. Men are like cats; once they've tasted the fish, you mean nothing to them." Grandma Wang released her daughter-in-law's hand and looked at the bed beside her: "Do his parents know about your relationship? Or is it just that you're both so devoted, and they know nothing at all?"
"Mom, actually you don't know that his parents already know. But we only found out recently."
Grandma Wang looked at her young and beautiful daughter-in-law and said, "Xiaoshan is a good boy. I can tell he's a good kid. I won't object if you go with him."
"As I said before, Fanfan can't take his surname, Qiao. He can only be the eldest grandson of the Wang family. You can have another child, and I can help you take care of him. I'm not lying."
"Mom!" Ma Yulan hugged her mother-in-law, her voice trembling with emotion. "Thank you!"
"My silly daughter, my son is gone, but you are still my daughter, and I hope you can be happy." Grandma Wang felt much more at peace, at least knowing that the pig that was stealing her cabbage was right next door. He was a decent person, and she hoped her daughter-in-law would be happy with him.
After her mother-in-law went back to her room to sleep, Ma Yulan tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep. Before she knew it, it was dawn.
With dark circles under his eyes, evidence of staying up late, he first made breakfast for his family, then hurriedly changed his clothes and went to the store.
Grandma Wang smiled and said nothing when she saw her daughter-in-law's flustered appearance.
She doesn't open the shop as early as before; she just needs to arrive before 7 a.m. However, to get things done faster, she arrives half an hour earlier.
This is what Qiao Xiaoshan looked like when he first arrived at the store; he hadn't even taken off his outer clothes yet.
Ma Yulan glanced at it and went to the kitchen.
Remembering what Xiao Ni had said last night, Qiao Xiaoshan followed her into the kitchen, closing the door behind him.
Ma Yulan was lighting a fire to prepare soup when she heard the sound and turned around to see Qiao Xiaoshan staring intently at her.
What are you doing?!
“Yulan, I want to ask you, when are you going to tell your mother-in-law about our relationship?”
"Are you in a hurry?" Ma Yulan lowered her head, trying to suppress a laugh.
Qiao Xiaoshan, unsure of what to do, stirred the water in the bucket with a spoon: "I wouldn't say I'm in a rush, I just want to get to know you as soon as possible. So we can be together openly and honestly, instead of doing it secretly."
"Oh, then your idea has come true." Ma Yulan looked up and couldn't help but smile. She hadn't slept last night because she was too excited.
"Ah!" Qiao Xiaoshan couldn't believe what he was hearing. His idea had suddenly come true. How could it feel so unreal?
Ma Yulan walked to his side and said, "No, Grandma has a condition. You have to agree to it first, otherwise she won't agree to us being together."
