Sun Jie then realized his mistake and looked slightly embarrassed.
"There were many people washing their faces, so I waited in line for a while longer."
Zhou Meiling didn't suspect anything and sat down again.
"Hurry up and wipe your face clean, then eat something. I bought your favorite soda. We need to return the bottle later!"
"Hmm." Sun Jie put the used towel back in his bag, glancing meaningfully at Qiao Xiaoni as he looked up. Then he looked away and sat down on his berth. He opened the soda bottle, then, remembering he hadn't asked the price, casually asked, "Is this soda eight cents?"
"Two cents!" Zhou Meiling replied without looking up.
Sun Jie sprayed the soda out of his mouth, and it sprayed all over Zhou Meiling's hair.
Qiao Xiaoni immediately hid to the side. There really wasn't enough time, otherwise she would have definitely grabbed Zhou Meiling.
Zhou Meiling quickly stood up, touching the soda in her hair: "What's wrong with you now?"
"This soda costs two cents, you should just buy one bottle, why did you buy two? Such expensive soda, how can a human drink it?" Sun Jie kept grumbling. In his opinion, there was no need to drink such expensive soda. There was free boiled water on the train, you could drink as much as you wanted.
"Don't you like drinking it? I was thirsty too, so I bought an extra bottle. Besides, it's my money, why are you being so fussy? Are you at it again?" Zhou Meiling blurted out angrily; she was getting annoyed too. Sun Jie was too frugal, sometimes it felt like a symptom of something wrong. He had to save this money, otherwise he felt uncomfortable.
She told her parents about this habit, and they actually thought it was a good thing. Because she usually spent money recklessly and never considered how she would manage after she ran out of money.
Sun Jie put the soda bottle on the table and said, "Keep it for yourself!" After saying that, he slipped on his slippers, got into his sleeper berth, lay down, turned his head to the other side, and started to sulk.
Zhou Meiling was equally angry. She ignored him, took out another towel from her bag, and went out to dry her hair.
Qiao Xiaoni felt that their relationship wouldn't last. University life was rich and colorful, and there were all sorts of people there.
There are already conflicts now, and there will only be more in the future, definitely not fewer. Thinking about it, I never got involved; after all, they were just strangers I met by chance.
When Zhou Meiling returned, she glanced at Qiao Xiaoni, expecting them to ask questions, but things didn't go as she had imagined, thus avoiding an awkward situation.
Time flies, and it was noon in the blink of an eye.
Su Chenhao decided to go to the dining car to buy food, and casually placed the newspaper on the table:
"Honey, I'm going to buy some boxed lunches."
"Go ahead! Don't buy anything too fancy, just eat something simple." Qiao Xiaoni instructed him as he walked away.
Su Chenhao paused for a moment: "I understand."
Zhou Meiling lay on her sleeper berth, looking at Sun Jie lying opposite her. She couldn't help but compare herself to him and felt sorry for herself.
They are not considerate at all, they are petty and only care about money.
Sun Jie's anger had subsided, and he was hungry. He sat up from his berth and said, "I'll go downstairs to buy some food too. Do you have any requests?"
“No, you can buy whatever you like,” Zhou Meiling replied.
Sun Jie, realizing he was in the wrong, didn't dare say much. He got off his berth, put on his shoes, and then went to the carriage in front to buy food.
