Lu Yang quickly thanked him and, after receiving the key, immediately called Cheng Lin to head to the warehouse.
The two of them went to refuel first, and then drove towards the provincial capital.
Cheng Lin sat in the car, initially somewhat excited.
But after half a day, he calmed down, looking somewhat uneasy.
Lu Yang handed him a scallion pancake and said, "Eat first, and I'll teach you how to open it after you finish."
Cheng Lin, munching on a pancake, asked vaguely, "How many days will it take to arrive?"
"Two days and two nights."
Lu Yang munched on a scallion pancake and said leisurely.
Cheng Lin immediately revealed a pained expression, finished the pancake in a few bites, and said, "Hurry up, this is too tiring."
Fortunately, Cheng Lin was more talented at driving than Chu Xiangyu, and he became a skilled driver in less than half a day.
Lu Yang drove for two hours. After dark, he switched places with Cheng Lin and continued driving.
Four hours later, Cheng Lin sat in the passenger seat, grimacing and rubbing his back.
The car hadn't gone far when a group of people suddenly rushed out from in front, the leader of whom was carrying a gun.
"Holy crap, someone has a gun!"
Cheng Lin was so frightened that he couldn't speak coherently, and his eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
Lu Yang quickly unbuckled his seatbelt and shouted, "Lie down!"
Cheng Lin quickly ducked under the car seat, and Lu Yang also crouched down before driving over.
Bang—bang—bang—
The people outside fired three shots in quick succession, shattering a piece of the windshield and hitting two more shots on Lu Yang's side of the car door.
Lu Yang stepped on the gas, and the car immediately accelerated, speeding forward.
The people behind them were not satisfied and chased after them on motorcycles, firing two more shots.
"Holy crap, this is going to kill me!"
Cheng Lin wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, took out a fruit knife from his bag, and his hands trembled uncontrollably.
Lu Yang, however, was much calmer than him. After all, he had worked in a sewing machine shop in his previous life and had been involved in many group fights.
"The other side only has one gun, take out the one with the gun first."
Lu Yang said calmly.
Cheng Lin was almost in tears: "How do we kill him?"
Lu Yang didn't say anything, but just sped up. The truck quickly swerved and crashed into the motorcycle on their right.
Both the gunman and the motorcyclist fell to the ground. Lu Yang immediately stopped the motorcycle, took out a dagger from his pocket, jumped off, and rushed to the man with the gun.
Both of them were badly hurt when they fell. When Lu Yang got close, they struggled for a moment and then grimaced in pain.
Lu Yang picked up the gun and kicked the two men in the neck twice, knocking them unconscious.
Just then, another motorcycle came hurtling toward him, but before it could hit him, Cheng Lin leaped off the motorcycle and crashed into the motorcyclist, knocking them both off the vehicle. All three of them fell to the ground.
However, because the rider cushioned Cheng Lin's fall, Cheng Lin was not seriously injured. It was the man on the motorcycle who fell to the ground and screamed in pain.
Lu Yang ran over and knocked out the two people who had fallen.
Cheng Lin said, trembling, "Are you alright now?"
"It's alright, let's get out of here!"
The two quickly got into the car, fastened their seatbelts, and continued speeding.
With a trembling voice, Cheng Lin pulled on the seatbelt and asked, "Is it too late to go back now?"
Fortune favors the bold.
Lu Yang smiled easily and continued driving while singing "The East Is Red".
Cheng Lin was on the verge of tears. He had been blinded by the prospect of making big money in the south, and he never imagined that he would be shot.
As dawn approached, Lu Yang stopped the car and urged, "It's your turn to drive. If you see anyone, just honk the horn. If they don't dodge, just drive right through them."
Cheng Lin was dumbfounded, but having just been shot, he still forced a response.
Lu Yang leaned back in the passenger seat and fell asleep, while Cheng Lin drove with a heart full of fear.
He drove for a while and then saw several people carrying a stretcher coming out from a side road and waving at his car.
It seemed someone was sick, so Cheng Lin honked his horn without hesitation. The other party didn't respond and continued to block the road, so Cheng Lin gritted his teeth and stepped on the gas to drive past.
Soon he heard shouts and curses coming from behind him. The other person had a heavy accent, and he could only make out the gist of it.
After a perilous journey, they finally arrived at Zhengjia Village.
Around 7 p.m., Zheng Yuntao pushed his three-wheeled motorcycle back.
Lu Yang stuffed all the steamed buns, braised beef, glutinous rice sausages, and long-grain rice he had brought from his hometown into Zheng Yuntao's hands and urged, "If you have time, let's go to the black market tonight."
Zheng Yunfeng accepted the items somewhat bewildered, nodded, and asked, "What kind of goods are you planning to stock this time? Clothes again?"
Lu Yang thought for a moment and said, "Let's sell clothes first, and the commission will be the same as Sister Chu's."
Zheng Yunfeng nodded: "Then let's go tonight."
Lu Yang breathed a sigh of relief; with the help of locals, things became much easier.
The two chatted for a while, then went out together, and Lu Yang invited Cheng Lin to come along as well.
The three of them got into the car and headed straight for the black market. Cheng Lin muttered to himself, "A place that's open at night, a night market?"
"The black market." Lu Yang drove with a straight face: "Let Zheng Yuntao negotiate the price later. If you can keep quiet, then don't."
Cheng Lin's mind went blank for a moment, and his face turned pale.
After arriving at the black market, the three parked their car on the side of the road and got out to look for clothing stalls.
Lu Yang looked around and found a secluded street stall with decent goods.
The vendor was still setting up his stall; he had clearly just started.
Lu Yang winked at Zheng Yuntao, who immediately started negotiating the price with the other party in the local dialect.
The two were speaking so fast that Lu Yang couldn't understand a single word.
Lu Yang paid after Zheng Yuntao agreed on the price.
The three of them loaded all the goods onto the truck and left the black market immediately.
Lu Yang dropped Zheng Yuntao off at the Zheng family home and then immediately drove away with Cheng Lin.
